Peter Beardsley has now released a statement via his solicitors.

This follows reporting by The Mail in recent days regarding the allegations made by young players at Newcastle United.

Peter Beardsley says that he has ‘no knowledge’ of any ‘reported findings’ with regard to the alleged unfair treatment and discriminatory comments.

Peter Beardsley still denies all the allegations and his solicitors say they will be ‘monitoring’ all future coverage by the media ‘carefully’.

The statement released by Farleys Solicitors on behalf of Peter Beardsley:

“Peter Beardsley is aware of media reports which result from unauthorised leaks.

“Peter Beardsley has no knowledge of the reported ‘findings’ of unfair treatment and discriminatory comments by him towards Newcastle United Football Club’s Under-23 players including Yasin Ben El-Mhanni.

“Peter Beardsley categorically denies the allegations.

Peter Beardsley will not be making any further comment at the present time.

“Peter respectfully requests that his privacy and that of his family is respected.

“As Peter Beardsley’s legal representatives, we will be monitoring media and broadcasting coverage carefully.”

    Sad case this,
one of Newcastle`s greatest players involved in discriminatory treatment of young players.

    • Peaky

It really is sad Moose……best player I ever saw in a black and white shirt….arguably even better when he returned under KK than the first time around.

      • JonMag

the best i`ve seen in a Newcastle shirt

        • Peaky

There’s a montage on YouTube of The Best of Beardsley with Back In Black by AC/DC playing in the background…..if some of those goals were by Messi,Ronaldo etc you would never hear the end of it….bear in mind this was 20 + years ago.

          • Wor Lass

Too true – my favourite English player of all time.

      • Dillon Tovak

Were you on your gap year during Acuna’s stay then?

        • Peaky

Totally forgot about Clarence….weird looking little fella like Tevez if I remember rightly ??? Only gap year I had Dillon was between wives….😳😳

          • Dillon Tovak

            😂👏👌🏼

        • mentalman

For some unknown reason i really liked Acuna, not sure if it was his name of the hair

    • Peaky

Still no sound from Jezza….he must definitely be up the Himalayas with a Sherpa writing his memoirs…

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Could be at Club Tropicana

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

He’s been up there with the fairies for long enough. I think he may have been barred.

I disagree with banning but he can’t just keep making rubbish up.

  • robbersdog

His garden must be in great shape!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      😂😂😂
there`s an old saying, ” There are no facts, just interpretations “

  • Philippines

The supposed “political correctness” these days is ridiculous. It would appear that the darker the skin, the thinner it becomes. Perhaps I could be arrested for making that comment but fortunately I live 15,000 miles away from UK

    • JonMag

they shoot you in the Philippines, don`t they. rather harsh that

    • Wor Lass

suppose you would deny being racist yourself, despite what you say here?

      • Philippines

If I was a racist I would support a team of a single race would I not?

        • Wor Lass

          I was right, then.

  • Tino11

Peter said a rude word, or two! 😄

  • Scottie Chugger Dearden

They aren’t called the Snowflake Generation for nothing!

  • Wor Lass

Probably best for all concerned to leave this now until something absolutely authoritative comes out.

    • TheNutJob

if i needed a defence lawyer i`d get leazes
      😂😂

      • Wor Lass

I`d get your big bro – if he couldn`t win the case he`d just tell `em all to eff off!

        • TheNutJob

          he would at that
          😂

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

He’d block the judge and jury if they disagreed with him.

          • Wor Lass

I haven`t heard that expression for a while – are you from up the the Tyne valley somewhere, Bobby?

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It was just a reference to Leazes’ penchant for blocking folk on here.

          • Wor Lass

Hha ha! Brilliant – I used to go to Bardon Mill and Hayden Bridge a lot back in the day and “blocking” someone meant thumping them. I think it was a bit of a country thing – Friday night entertainment and all that.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Ah yes, my grandpa used to use that term, his father was from Haltwhistle but in this case, I was keeping the references to this board.

          • Wor Lass

Blocking was the passtime of choice in Haltwistle back then!

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Last time I was there, it seems tea drinking has taken over

          • Wor Lass

`jnockung …. is that some weird Norse dialect that`s still spoken out Haltwistle way?

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Lawyers aren’t allowed to lie and make stuff up in court, Leazes’ would be useless..

        • Kev Newcastle England

He’s twice as intelligent as you girls name

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Not sure where that leaves you on the food chain but happy Blaydon Races day anyhow.

          • Kev Newcastle England

Why did your family call you Bobbi Bobbi?

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

My mother’s favourite player was Bobby Mitchell

          • Kev Newcastle England

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

On what day did you go to the Blaydon Races? [Clue for the simpleton]

  • Sickandtired

Shed loads of folk condemning him on here and lecturing all about racism and discrimination – and the real fact is that no findings have actually been released.
    Hahahaha!

    • Down Under Mag

I couldn’t care less about this part. he will get his punishment if the allegations are proved to be true…until then i’ll not jump on any bandwagon…personaly i’m tired of people judged before anythign is officially found…it’s a case of guilty until proven innocent with certain accusations (rape, racism etc).

What I DO care about is the fact that the youth setup and the development of players at this club is a total and utter joke and THAT is why he should lose his job. Great player but just not up to it as a development coach. Clearly just a yes man to keep his job but if the club want to seriously begin developing their talent pool they need to have a clear out of dead-wood AND staff and start to move things in the right direction!!!

      • Sickandtired

But that is what the article was about, along with the over hundred outraged comments, and rising, all judging the guy and condemning him based on what appears to be yet another false media story – thus far. As I said from the outset, and in agreement with you, he should be judged on such actions once the facts are known and so far they clearly are not.
His abilities and results with the youth set-up are another issue completely.

  • Andy Mac

This has been well and truly flogged like the proverbial horse. Beardsley, great player, is a Fatman “Yes man” which is why he’s still hanging on to his job by his fingernails.

However if this club had any sense whatsoever PB would have been sacked years ago for his stunningly incompetent role as an U23’s coach, let alone for any indiscretions or racist behaviour ?

    • Kneebotherm8

His coaching abilities…………are the polar opposite to his wonderful footballing skills during his career when he was a joy to watch……he has,it would seem, kept his job due to his blind loyalty to Ashley…….just as you say…

  • Mxpx

We were not there and we don’t know what happened and what Peters intentions were as such I think there is no reason for anyone to be condemning or defending him until we know more it would seem to me that there are people who have decided a verdict without this information. it might be worth finding out what happened first he could be the victim or the he could be the instigator or as I believe is more likely it could be a grey area but we’ll have to wait to find out

    • Leazes.

Not the first time there has been allegations.

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

      We’ll said

    • 7gnanelvis

Hmmmm ….I heard that he took some lads to an outdoor activities centre and told the black lads they should be great at the monkey bars and climbing the cargo nets .

  • Albert Stubbins

I don’t for one minute believe he intended to be overtly racist. I hope common sense prevails and Pedro can be allowed to return and get back on with his job a little bit wiser for the whole experience.

  • Hughie

Once again the incompetent UK media are oversimplifying what can be a complex situation and presenting unbalanced headlines and stories which pre-judge a situation and drag someone through the dirt.
Anyone who has been anywhere near a football team knows the banter that usually occurs, and there is often a fine line between political correctness and humour. While no-one with half a brain condones racism or bullying, it is very easy to point the finger and to misinterpret comments particularly in a competitive climate. Sport coaching is necessarily assertive and different players need to be encouraged with different psychological approaches which may be interpreted by some as bullying and others as the best method of helping an individual to progress. Two other points– times have changed, and Beardsley will have lived through and been subject to far worse “banter” than happens today, and perhaps is a tad out of touch– no excuse if he has crossed the line though. Additionally, communication may not be the best with some of the foreign players at clubs who may misinterpret language used?

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

That’s right, the way Beardsley was coached was different to now. I don’t like the word ‘snowflake’ but I think there is a bit of that going on.

I suspect Beardsley would have seen this as tough love, reverse psychology etc.

I’m not saying the old way was right and there are questions over how productive the yoof set up is but that does not make Beardsley a bully or a racist.

  • Team pedro

I am fully with pedro b on this one and if i see ben el hammy ill bully the little scroat too beardsley is a mag end of ben el hammy is the son of a wh***

  • Weyhhadaway

His job as a coach was awful, which happens to a lot of brilliant players, Bobby Charlton failed as a coach. At any other club he wouldn’t have been around to have made the alleged remarks.
I am just going to remember the brilliance of his football and ignore the rest.

  • MadMag83

Beardsley needs sacking. Not because of this saga, but because of his poor record as a coach.

  • Peter Ellis

Beardsley has been accused of what is now the worst of crimes (hate “crime”) Innocent or guilty he is now effectively unemployable.
