The Magpies are claimed to have been watching the young attacking player who can play on the left or right of midfield.
The 18 year old has impressed at Middlesbrough this season after arriving from Portuguese side Leiria FC last summer.
Obviously more of a one for the future, if there is genuine Newcastle interest, Foot Mercato report that Bilal Brahimi has got six goals and 14 assists in 25 games in the younger age groups at Boro this season.
Born in the suburbs of Paris, Footmercato say that Brahimi has had a number of clubs watching him as well as Newcastle, with Liverpool, Everton, Valenica and Real Betis amongst those interested.
The attacking midfielder started off at AS Saint-Ouen l’Aumône, before then moving on to Racing Club de France Football Colombes 92.
The ambitious youngster then moved on to Leiria FC in Portugal, before trying his luck with Middlesbrough last summer, shortly after turning 17.
As for Newcastle, we saw a lot of teenagers brought in from all over the world to strengthen the youth set at NUFC in Rafa’s first full season, but that hasn’t been the case in the past year.
With the manager widely reported to be demanding the freedom to totally revamp the Academy and youth set-up, just like the senior squad, we await to see what will change this summer.
