Got to laugh really, reading about the lack of business at Newcastle United to this point.

Two things cause this…

Number One – The World Cup.

Number Two – Mike Ashley.

We never do any business during World Cups and Mike Ashley…well we all know him.

He is a conundrum, a shrewd businessman but blinkered to his way or no way.

Strange that he does just enough and doesn’t want to move the club on, or maybe he does, but on the club’s money and not his.

Mike Ashley has broken the aura of the club –  no fun, no enjoyment, no ‘is he going to sign or not’, it is all gone..

He is an anaesthetic, slowly putting a great club to sleep,

Rafa Benitez?

Truthfully, if he had any sense he would walk away from the madness and lies.

Sadly, he can see the vision but Ashley can’t or won’t.

Merino out, maybe Ritchie out, and more worrying, potentially even Lascelles out…where will the madness end??

Prediction for you all.

More players out than in, with a plus figure for Mike Ashley.

You have been warned…

Everybody is for sale at Newcastle United, even the Manager.
    that`s what shopkeepers do.

    • Wor Lass

Told you Harry was on for the Golden Boot. We`re not even on for the Das Boot!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

you know what worries me, he didn`t actually score from open play against a Pub team.

        • Wor Lass

Yeah he did – he got that worldy. A little flick off the back of his heel. He wasn`t even facing goal – Perez would have been proud of it.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            was it intentional, that`s debatable,
the Muppets hiding from Leazes as i shopped him for buying Trainer socks from Shyte Direct

          • Wor Lass

Absolutely not! I`ve got to confess I bought a ski helmet from there quite a few years ago but he was wearing a toon shirt and boozing with the fans back then – and I had a 10 quid off voucher. That £10 could represent Rafa`s net spend this window.

    • Steve Smith

That’s what pimps and human traffickers do.

  • Mrkgw

    ASHLEY OUT!

    • porciestreet

      Ditto………

      • Mrkgw

We need supporters to give him one almighty push. He wasn’t as engrained at Rangers however, the rid themselves of him. We really do need to do likewise.

        • porciestreet

You know, this all stems back to when I was a kid when it was nearly impossible to get in with crowds of 60,000 + on a regular basis. It’s ingrained in most fans to hang on to their ST for grim death in order to rely on admittance, hence the sheep thing.
This should not be about whether we get in or not, as fans, it’s the heritage we aught to be considering and the effect this odious slob on future generations of Newcastle fans.
For those of you who don’t give a ***t about staying away, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE GOING TO BE LEFT WITH when Cashley decides he’s had enough beca use mark my words…. he will just walk away and your consiactions won’t count for a grain of sand.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Which era was this? We’ve never had 60,000 plus on a regular basis, perhaps for a big game but never sold out very often pre 1992, We only really sold out on a regular basis in the KK years.

Perhaps you are a glory hunter who only attended the big games, it sounds like it.

            .

          • porciestreet

And maybe the crowds seemed so much bigger when you’re only 8 or 9.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I think you may be right. My first game was when Supermac played, the place seemed massive and the Leazes end looked bonkers to me as a 5 year old.

          • porciestreet

Remember his debut hatrick at home to Liverpool. Unforgettable..!

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Mine was one of his last. He scored, the Leazes sang Supermac superstar and I got to my Grandad’s to hear he may be sold to Arsenal. The experience of being a Newcastle Fan wrapped up into one afternoon.

        • mactoon

The difference is he only owned 8.92% of Rangers so it was easier and cheaper to buy him out. The fans here aren’t even protesting

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

The key is buy him out. Rangers fans at least put their money where their mouth was. Our moaning fans just want someone else to to it.

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Perhaps buy him out, you know, put your money where your mouth is?

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

      Yeah!

  • Wezza

Agree. But this is nothing different since MA’s horrible tenure here. He will never change.
Cue the trolls here defending him before scuttling off to work at s****s d******t. They can’t defend his lack of ambition.

  • SuperDesHamilton

Awaiting Monkseaton mackems defence of Ashley comment…

    • Leazes.

I’m not I blocked him last year.

      • SuperDesHamilton

A like seeing his feeble defence of fatty, also I enjoy how he says he’s never missed a Newcastle game since Noah built the ark

        • Monkseaton Magpies

Take it you having a fifth year off. You must have some size garden.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Correct! And many more years until your mate sells up or pops his clogs. A know you’ve gotta prove your Geordieness because you aren’t really from Newcastle. Maybe I’ll see you at an away game since I go to plenty & you’ve been to every newcastje game ever

          • Monkseaton Magpies

I did not say ever but will gladly buy you a pint at an away game this season if you manage to get to one or how about a home game might do you good to get out the house.

          • SuperDesHamilton

I’ll never go as long as that regime is in charge picking the bones of our club

          • TheFatController

If you buy a telescope, on a clear night you can just about make out the planet he’s from.

You`re missing a good laugh, the lad is not right in the head

        • Wor Lass

I`ve told him he`s missing all the fun. It`s the muppets that make the site worthwhile – the ones writing the articles as well as the ones commenting.

      • TheFatController

I’ll fill you in on what you’re missing then:

        – The club’s price freeze means his six season tickets save him enough to go on holiday, he thus concludes Ashley pays for his holiday.
        – he’s the 15th best supporter at the club. He seems to have hacked the club’s ‘points database’ and knows everyone at the top, and exactly how he’s going to get ahead of them. Murder being one option, I’d not be surprised to discover.
        – he was at the newcastle west end v north Shiels game on Tynemouth priory in 873AD, where were we? he’s got the teamsheet written in quill feather if you need proof ? If you didn’t attend the game, you’re a mackem.
        – most people on here are Rafa loving mackems, or disloyal to the club if they don’t attend in protest of the regime. In contrast, he’s the 15th most loyal, statistically (see above)

I know you’re now unblocking, realising what you’ve been missing ?

        • Rich Lawson

And yet the club kicked him and his family out their seats, you’ve got to enjoy the irony there ?

        • Monkseaton Magpies

Here is one to add to your collection. Was at a dozen games
1960/61 before I was born. People who block people have the I Q of a pea.

          • Rich Lawson

Go on then,I can’t resist asking, how were you at a dozen games prior to birth.Did your mother attend whilst pregnant with you ?

          • TheFatController

He doesn’t have a mother. He’s an escaped experiment from a laboratory.

          • Rich Lawson

A clone perhaps of several of our righteous pals on here, but which one is the original ? (Easy answer, none of them are very original !)

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Get a life and support your club. Ashamed of your parents of bringing you up to hate Newcastle.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Take it you are adopted as no mother in Newcastle would let you hate Newcastle. Mine went to all the games in the Leazes my dad in the Gallowgate. Your parents picked you up in an orphanage as no other explanation for your hatred of Newcastle United F.C. Please check your birth certificate
and ask your parents what went wrong.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Yes it was from what she said it was an F.A. Cup tie and she had to come out as massive crowd. Sheffield United lost three one fifty four thousand there and we lost 1961. Most people on this site are adopted and hate Newcastle.

        • Leazes.

          Senility?

          • TheFatController

Well, his memory seems ok given he can recall what he had to drink at HT in that 873AD game ….

        • SuperDesHamilton

          😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 brilliant

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Very sad that you and the Fat Controller do not support our club as in going to games. If everyone took your stance nearly every ground would be empty. It is correct that I have little time for those who do not attend games or locally support other teams. I will enjoy the season most on here will not.

          • SuperDesHamilton

You’re one of them weirdos that wants all north east teams to do well…strange breed

          • Monkseaton Magpies

I do not want Newcastle do well full stop may me Whitley Bay and Morpeth but not any team with Kane and Ali in it.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Put the can of Vaux down Monkseaton

        • Monkseaton Magpies

Sadly the Mag is full of people who unless we are top of the league, win three cups will spit the dummy out jump up and down like spoilt brats. Tenth is not good enough. Outside of football I bet you moan for the best cars, best jobs and will die with a healthy bank balance and guess what you could have had a better life going to games.

          • TheFatController

Other than being completely inaccurate, you’ve hit the nail on the head with your stunning intuitions and insight into the human condition…

        • FatParosite

It’s nice to watch him from the blocked area by way of sensible minded individuals like yourself Fat.. (Can I call you Fat..??) MM is the cretinous self-aggrandising fuckw1t on Bishop zero hours spouting unsubstantiated drivel. I’m glad I don’t see it but like your retorts.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

How can you be sensible if you block people. It shows not only a lack of intelligence but a lack of support for the club.

          • TheFatController

I am probably calmer with being called Fat than Ashley is, so carry on yes …

Just don’t call me Kim jong Un. That’ll end in court …

    • Monkseaton Magpies

No fun I am told being a Newcastle supporter. That is because most on here did not see the Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd games. Some of the best football in years and all you do is moan. The Mag is sending people to sleep with depressing articles.

      • SuperDesHamilton

Theirs this invention called a television, we aren’t all Uber sewpa fans like you, who make up that they’ve been to every single game since 1908

  • Leazes.

‘Strange that he does just enough….. but on the club’s money and not his’

    Nooooooo……..

You mean ‘some’ of the clubs money as he takes free advertising but the strangest thing is the merchandise and shirt sales which he has taken over, and which the Halls and Shepherds bragged they could buy a Shirt for a fiver and sell for a fortune…..

    …. Well he buys it even cheaper…. he’s a mega-retailer!

….and United’s merchandise income hasn’t kept pace with our competitors….. funny that isn’t it?

    • mactoon

To put it into perspective, when Sports Direct were involved in the Glasgow Rangers club shop it was reported the club received less than10p for every £1 spent. If that is the same arrangement NUFC has, it’s no surprise we aren’t making any money.

The biggest crime is the club is doing nothing about it. A Director’s responsibility should be to maximise the club’s profit. Giving away free advertising and minimising profit from the club shop doesn’t seem to fit into that remit.

      • Leazes.

I’ll tell you something else that’s funny about that Rangers escapade, Ashley put four of his people in place of the merchandise operation who were allowed to take 50% of the profits…. it was as if it was a reward for something rather than an genuine endeavor in the retailing.

        • mactoon

          From Ranger’s Fan Union.

“The accounts also reveal that Rangers Retail has an obligation to purchase stock at a higher price than it is able to be sold at”

          • TheFatController

If he didn’t take money from our retail operation, we’d have done a Leeds or Portsmouth by now ….or something like that. I never really understand that rationale apologists always play like a ‘get out of jail free’ card

          • Leazes.

If you applied the same rules of the argument to Man United or Madrid or any club you would say that they were heading for bankruptcy …. but he doesn’t go on their fans sites pleading for restraint in team spending though even though Fleckman/Monkseaton is a Man United fan….. its an attack on United by this individual.

          • FatParosite

They are Bishop bots… I guarantee it.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It’s not the same arrangement at NUFC. The reason Rangers has a deal that was not advantageous to their club is they borrowed money from Sports Direct (not Mike Ashley), the security was essentially the retailing arm hence the terms were not so good.

At the time, with Ashley having just 9pc of their shares, the deal could have been vetoed and borrowing taken from elsewhere, the other directors could have lent Rangers the money if the club bankers. They didn’t, in fact the ONLY entity that seemingly would give them money to survive was Sports Direct.

Rangers repaid the loan andarenegotiated their deal with Spirts Direct and are now very happy with their new deal. Note that they stayed with SD and it was quoted from a Rangers exec that only Newcastle had a better deal than Rangers now have.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

As mentioned, NUFC’s deal with Sports Direct is far more favourable than Rangers’. However, Rangers ‘only’ made 10p profit in every £1?

If that is true, don’t you think that’s a good deal? Sports direct pay the rent rates etc on the shops, wages, fulfillment warehousing and Rangers get 10%? Sports Direct are one of Europe’s most efficient retailers, certainly the most efficient b&m retailer in the UK and it’s net profit margin is around 1% yet you think the worst run football club in the UK can achieve better than 10% at retail?????

        • mactoon

No it’s far from a good deal. If the club had a club shop within their ground it would be included in the rent they pay to the council so cheaper than paying rent to SD. In any case, every club should get more than 10% from sales of official merchandise. There’s also the printing and badges cost at around £13.61 per top which the club are losing plus 15% of the shirt revenue. (figures taken from Man U back in 2016 so will be more now)

And Rangers obviously disagreed with your opinion that 10% was a ‘good deal’ as they renegotiated the ‘10%’ deal “on terms substantially different from the terminated agreements”.

“For obvious reasons it is not the practice for the details of commercial arrangements to be made public. However [Rangers] will now receive by far the majority of net profits from the retail operations”

So the worst run football club in the UK does now achieve better than 10% at retail.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I’m doubting they got 10% on that deal. If the only outlet they have is within the stadium, I take your point but they certainly had an outlet at Glasgow airport in the past and I thought they had others in the City but it’s a long time since I’ve been up there.

NUFC lost money on merchandise in the past, OK that was partly down to Bruce Shepherd’s deal but after costs, 10% margin is very very good in my experience. I doubt many of the oteher clubs that use Sports Direct get 10% and they haven’t taken a loan from SD to pay the taxman off.

The reason for Sports Direct having such a hold on Rangers was all down to the loan. They were borrowing at the last lender in town and beggers could not be choosers.

          • mactoon

I would have preferred if Newcastle just had the one outlet within St James’ Park and maximised the profit in terms of sales and name printing but that’s never going to happen while the owner has an interest in Sports Direct as he is looking after his main business interest by outsourcing the whole thing to Sports Direct.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

If it makes us more money, why not? To do all the online stuff from the club, I really can’t see us making more money that outsourcing to SD. So many other clubs outsource merchandise.

          • mactoon

Because the way it is currently it makes more money for Sports Direct and Ashley is happy with that, so I don’t see any reason he would change it.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I don’t follow your logic. I bought a banana at lunchtime, it cost be 40p. I could have cut out the middleman and bought a farm in africa, grown the banana but it would have cost me a lot more and take a lot longer so why would I do that?

If we get Sports Direct to do everything and they give us more money than we can make by doing it in-house, we would we care is Sports Direct make a few quid too?

Moreover, why would Mike Ashley give a bad deal for NUFC which he owns 100% of in favour of Sports Direct which he owns 52% of?

          • mactoon

I am assuming we would make more money doing it all in house than paying Sports Direct to do it

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I really doubt that to be the case.

Most of the income is from internet sales, it’s far easier / cost effective for Sports Direct to handle all of that.

When an order comes in for an NUFC away top, the SD warehouse guy is picking it out whilst doing the same for a Sheff Weds order, Rangers, Burnley (I think), Reading, Portsmouth, Rotherham as well as Hamphire & Yorkshire cricket, St Helens & Cass Tigers Rugby League and many others on top of the Sports Direct orders.

Even the b&m shops can shift staff from SD to club shops of match days to deal with demand but fewer staff on a week day.

    • FatParosite

It’s so hard to undo a lie that fans stupidly believe to begin with then force themselves to believe thereafter. It’s propaganda 101. Self reinforcement of a negative/positive lie. The French call it Folie a deux. Madness of two meaning i.e. self duplicity.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It’s not, it’s logic that some fail to recognise.

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Our retail income is now bottom line profit, no costs. Hence, the income looks lower but the contribution to the bottom line is better. We lost money on the merchandise retailing in at least two seasons under FFS. Bruce Shepherd made more than the club in every season he was involved.

  • mactoon

Do you think the world cup is a reason we have not signed any players yet?

I don’t think all of Rafa’s targets are actually at the world cup (Kenedy being a prime example) so there’s no excuse for the inactivity.

  • jonas

I think of him as more of a cancer than an anesthetic.
clubs been asleep since he arrived.

the madness will end when we get rid of Ashley.
specifically, perhaps when not if Rafa jacks and it unravels again, surely cant fool people again that there’s be any getting promoted were we to go back down.
