On Thursday the media in Majorca revealed that Newcastle United’s Ciaran Clark had been assaulted in a Magaluf bar.

The incident reported to have happened at 2am last Saturday and the 28 year old having to be taken straight to hospital for treatment.

A friend of Clark’s was also taken to hospital, the pair said to have been attacked by the same assailant, who was arrested and then released on bail when appearing in court, as Police continued their enquiries.

The initial reports (see below) said that Ciaran Clark had been punched but now it has been claimed that he was actually hit with a bottle.

The Sun are running an exclusive and quote an eyewitness saying:

“Ciaran Clark got bottled and his face was covered in blood, it looked terrible, really bad.

“After the incident he came and sat on a wall next to our bar.

“The police then came down straight away to speak to him and he got taken to hospital.”

The report says the assailant was believed to be part of a group of men from Croydon (London) who had been hassling the girlfriends of Ciaran Clark and the other inured man, when the two intervened, it was then the assaults allegedly happened.

The Newcastle player receiving stitches in the injury to his lip, with images of the injury now circulating (see above).

The Mag – Thursday 21 June 2018:

Newcastle United star Ciaran Clark has been punched unconscious in a Magaluf bar attack, according to reports from Majorca.

Local newspaper Ultima Hora say that the 28 year old defender was rushed to hospital after being punched in the face by another man.

The attack is said to have happened at 2am on Saturday at at Crystal’s Bar in Magaluf.

Clark was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma.

Police arrested the alleged attacker and he made a court appearance on Monday, where he was bailed as police continued their enquiries.

The attacker is described by the newspaper as a ‘6ft 2in well built foreigner.’

Initial contact is said to have happened on the dance floor when the pair bumped into each other, with Clark then being ‘hit’ according to Ultima Hora.

The alleged attacker made off but then later returned and without saying a word, is said to have punched Ciaran Clark in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

The report says Clark lost consciousness and was then taken by ambulance to the Son Espases hospital in Palma.

In court, the man accused said he was on the dance floor of Crystal’s and a young man had grabbed his chest and caused injuries.

The arrested man claims he was not drunk and that he tried to get rid of the other man (Ciaran Clark) by punching him.

No mention of the condition of Newcastle’s Ciaran Clark but presumably he has recovered ok.

You don’t go to Maguluf and expect a vicars tea party. It is full of cockney’s on the rampage smashing bottles looking for fights as they cannot hold their drink.
Surprising choice been their many times and the atmosphere can be ugly.

    • Danimal

Just like someone who repeatedly supports Mike Ashley to repeatedly visit a place where the atmosphere “can be ugly”. Punishment addict.

Learnt there is some where better in life a place called Benidorm.

Just booked my tickets for Death Cab for Cutie yesterday – Albert Hall, Mancland in January. Get yourself into the 21st century, Peaky!

      • Peaky

I’ll go and see anyone but it seems at the minute it’s old timers who may never tour again….Paul Simon at Manchester next…2 weeks time.

        • Wor Lass

He`s one of my all-timers, absolutely love him. My worry would be that his voice had gone – like some of the duffers that Jools Holland wheels out from time to time. It`s sad when a great act comes on and can`t do it. My top act is van Morrison but I don`t think I`d even go to see him now after watching him live at Eden – Bastille, on the other hand …

          • Peaky

I must admit I was worried Billy Joel had gone that way but he was superb….old school, proper entertainer, loads of humour etc….he doesn’t look so great however, years of hard living have certainly taken their toll and he’s had/got loads of demons….to put it into context he’s the same age as The Boss….Bastille ???? Is that where you live….😂😂🇫🇷🇫🇷

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

The old timers can do it live the ones these days can`t

          • Wor Lass

Saw him about 20 years ago at Gateshead stadium….if i can remember I think the supports were Status Quo then Joe Cocker….peed down all day but a great gig.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

On advice from the old man who was there he say`s
            Van Morrison

          • Wor Lass

Saw him i Manchester on that same tour – he can still kick a mean ball as well!

          • Wor Lass

Ha ha – if I`m not careful! I`m sure I`ve said this before but the Boss at the City Hall in 1981 is the best gig I`ve ever been to and I doubt anyone else is ever going to come close to that.

          • Danimal

Elvis Costello at City Hall 1987. Was reminiscing about that last night over “a few” pints, with a mate who went to see him recently. I remember reading the programme afterwards and thinking he was knocking on a bit at the grand age of 33. Wish I could be 33 again.

          • Wor Lass

The City Hall and the Deaf Institute in Manchester are the two best venues I`ve been to. I saw Van Morrison for the first time at the City Hall in 11978, I think – he was terrific but didn`t say a single word to the audience all night.

          • WildBill

Everyone who was ever at that gig thinks the same mate. best show ever. 37 years later still the greatest gig I’ve ever seen.

          • Wor Lass

RIP Clarence – he was awesome that night!
