On Thursday the media in Majorca revealed that Newcastle United’s Ciaran Clark had been assaulted in a Magaluf bar.

The incident reported to have happened at 2am last Saturday and the 28 year old having to be taken straight to hospital for treatment.

A friend of Clark’s was also taken to hospital, the pair said to have been attacked by the same assailant, who was arrested and then released on bail when appearing in court, as Police continued their enquiries.

The initial reports (see below) said that Ciaran Clark had been punched but now it has been claimed that he was actually hit with a bottle.

The Sun are running an exclusive and quote an eyewitness saying:

“Ciaran Clark got bottled and his face was covered in blood, it looked terrible, really bad.

“After the incident he came and sat on a wall next to our bar.

“The police then came down straight away to speak to him and he got taken to hospital.”

The report says the assailant was believed to be part of a group of men from Croydon (London) who had been hassling the girlfriends of Ciaran Clark and the other inured man, when the two intervened, it was then the assaults allegedly happened.

The Newcastle player receiving stitches in the injury to his lip, with images of the injury now circulating (see above).

The Mag – Thursday 21 June 2018:

Newcastle United star Ciaran Clark has been punched unconscious in a Magaluf bar attack, according to reports from Majorca.

Local newspaper Ultima Hora say that the 28 year old defender was rushed to hospital after being punched in the face by another man.

The attack is said to have happened at 2am on Saturday at at Crystal’s Bar in Magaluf.

Clark was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma.

Police arrested the alleged attacker and he made a court appearance on Monday, where he was bailed as police continued their enquiries.

The attacker is described by the newspaper as a ‘6ft 2in well built foreigner.’

Initial contact is said to have happened on the dance floor when the pair bumped into each other, with Clark then being ‘hit’ according to Ultima Hora.

The alleged attacker made off but then later returned and without saying a word, is said to have punched Ciaran Clark in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

The report says Clark lost consciousness and was then taken by ambulance to the Son Espases hospital in Palma.

In court, the man accused said he was on the dance floor of Crystal’s and a young man had grabbed his chest and caused injuries.

The arrested man claims he was not drunk and that he tried to get rid of the other man (Ciaran Clark) by punching him.

No mention of the condition of Newcastle’s Ciaran Clark but presumably he has recovered ok.
