Speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday’s crunch match, Aleksandar Mitrovic wasn’t short on confidence.
Buoyed by his first ever World Cup goal and excellent personal performance in the 2-1 defeat to Switzerland, the Newcastle striker can’t wait for the decider.
Mitro declaring that ‘If I didn’t think we could win against Brazil, I would pack my things and go, the same goes for my team-mates.’
Pointing to the surprise results already, Aleksandar Mitrovic says the favourites aren’t getting an ‘easy ride’ at this World Cup, citing Argentina’s struggles as a prime example.
Victory against Switzerland would have sent Serbia through and now it is a simple equation in this final match, Serbia have to beat Brazil unless Costa Rica manage to beat the Swiss – then a draw would do.
As for Brazil, they need a point to make sure of qualifying but the good news for Mitrovic and his teammates is that Brazil aren’t the type of team to ever try to play out a 0-0 draw,
The two matches kick off at 7pm on Wednesday night and Mitro states ‘I am confident that we will knock them out.’
This could be a cracking game and best of luck to Newcastle United’s number 45.
“I think there is more pressure on Brazil.
“They are not accustomed to this situation, that they can maybe fall in the first round, while we have nothing to lose.
“I think that as long as we are in the game, we will have a chance to go further.
“We need to be smart, to give our best, then with a little luck and God’s help, we can win.
“If I didn’t think we could win against Brazil, I would pack my things and go, the same goes for my team-mates.
“Favourites do not get an easy ride here, for example Croatia beat Argentina.
“Costa Rica and Switzerland have shown that they can play against Brazil and I am confident that we will knock them out.”
