Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored 14 goals in his last 18 appearances for Serbia.

However, if he makes it 15 (or better) out of 19 on Sunday, it will surely be his most treasured goal(s).

The Newcastle striker is set to line up at 1pm (UK time) for Serbia against Costa Rica.

He is NUFC’s only representative out in Russia and if he scores, he will become only the seventh Newcastle player to ever score at a World Cup finals.

Altogether, there have been eight goals scored in total, by six different players who were on Newcastle’s books at the time.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is 16/5 to score the first goal today (see betting below) and 100/1 to be top scorer in the whole tournament.

Serbia starting 11 today: Stojkovic, Ivanovic, Tosic, Milenkovic, Kolarov, Milinkovic-Savic, Milivojevic, Matic, Ljajic, Tadic, Mitrovic

Would be great to see him get on the scoresheet and Serbia start with a victory, good luck!

If mitro scores today ” Yea but it’s only costa Rica he doesn’t fit into rafa’s tactics as well as joselu and Gayle. In rafa we trust “

    • SuperDesHamilton

He’s shown yet again he isn’t good enough, but because he does a dance & use to support Newcastle as a Bairn you think he’s the second coming of Shearer

  • Leicester Mag

Foul on Mitro leads to goal. #real handful

  • HarryHype59

Mitro isn’t a natural finisher based on this game. He has missed three decent chances in the Costa Rica match. He still far better that the Hoss.

    • Leicester Mag

Certainly should have done better esp. last chance.

  • MadMag83

Wasted two glorious chances. You’d better your house on a Premier League quality scoring at least one of those.

  • Mrkgw

He’s still better than the likes of Hoss and Gayle. And better than Rafa’s apparent target Jorgensen. But don’t worry, Rafa knows best, apparently.

    • Billmag

Mmm Rafa knows best apparently, so do you think we would won the Championship and finished 10th in the Premier with any other manager.

      • Mrkgw

Not necessarily saying otherwise but, It narks me that we may lose a young player who is on the up for a lesser entity. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be gutted were Rafa not with us but, I wish he would be a little less stubborn on this one.
