There have now been eighteen confirmed incoming Premier League transfers.

This is now the 27th day of the Premier League summer transfer window.

The World Cup of course set to complicate things when kicking off in two days time.

Liverpool have been the big spenders so far, with Keita and Fabinho added to their squad.

Meanwhile, Newcastle fans were relieved to see the excellent Martin Dubravka confirmed on a permanent deal, after a successful loan spell.

This window closes in England at 5pm on Thursday 9 August, so 59 days of fun and games still to go.

Over in France, Germany, Italy and Spain, their windows open tomorrow (1 June) and run until 31 August.

So once the Premier League window closes, clubs in other countries can still potentially buy players from English clubs for another 22 days, though English clubs will no longer be able to buy.

With 18 PL deals so far, Newcastle are pretty much the average with one so far, but nobody is under any illusions as to just how much quality is needed to progress this NUFC team/squad.

Also, the established top six clubs don’t tend to make a lot of signings, more a case of spending a lot of money on a smaller number of players.

Whereas for clubs such as Newcastle still recovering after bouncing back from the Championship, numbers are needed, as well as raising the quality.

  • Monkseaton Magpies

So apart from Liverpool no real big signings yet. The bargain of the window so far has to be Jonny Evans as clubs were quoted huge amounts for him a year ago.
Looking forward to our other five new signings shortly.

    • Vodkamagpie

Huge signing on fee for him and his agent I presume , include high wages aswel

  • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Seems most are confirmation of last season’s loan deals.

  • csh

Would love to see our next signing announced as Bas Dost, apparently he terminated his contract so will be available on a free.

    • Dillon Tovak

      Why would you love that?
      He’s not very good.

      • csh

His goal scoring record speaks for itself. No guarantees he’d pull up any trees over here but on a free has to be well worth a look.

        • JonMag

he played in Germany for 4yrs & scored 32 goals,
he only scores in 2nd class leagues

          • csh

So based on that you wouldn’t take Lewandowski either then?

          • Chris

Watched him play in MLS competition vs Toronto I think. Whoever it was against, he looked no better than Mitrovic. And I’m no big Mitrovic supporter.

    • Vodkamagpie

He will go to the highest bidder, signing on fee, agent fee, wages
