The latest Newcastle United transfer exclusive has popped up on Tuesday lunchtime.

It is bad enough during the football season but now the matches have finished, we know for sure that the media will be ramping things up when it comes to transfer stories.

Newcastle fans tend to take them all with a high sense of scepticism.

However, the ‘exclusive’ today will take some beating…

Teamtalk – Tuesday 15 May 2018:

‘EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle move to sign Chelsea duo on loan

Newcastle have asked Chelsea to take Kenedy back on loan next season –  and they also want to bring a Stamford Bridge teammate with him, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Brazilian star Kenedy has been a huge success at St James’ Park this season, with his form leading to interest from the likes of Liverpool, as well as Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

However, Newcastle have already stated their intentions to try and persuade him to stay on in the North-East and believe Chelsea will grant them their wish, rather than the Blues making a transfer mistake and allowing the former Fluminense star to move on before getting the chance to prove himself in west London.

Meanwhile, Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is also keen on a summer deal for his Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham.

Newcastle are set to jettison Aleksandar Mitrovic and Spanish flop Joselu, meaning they want two new strikers, with Benitez targeting a deal for Abraham.’

This is surely already going to be crowned as worst Newcastle United transfer exclusive of the whole summer.

Not that it is impossible to believe that Kenedy or Tammy Abraham could come on loan to Newcastle United next season.

More the fact that the exclusive is quite ludicrous in claiming ‘sources’ have told them that Newcastle could bring BOTH Chelsea players to St James Park.

This is what the official Premier League rules say…

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2017/18, there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:

– Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.

– The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.

So rest assured Newcastle will not be loaning both Kenedy and Tammy Abraham this summer.

Though we do live in hope that Kenedy is signed up again, hopefully on a permanent deal but I’d settle for another loan.

Calling Joselu a ‘flop’ is ridiculous, He has had very little playing time and has shown much good football when on the field. Almost everyone was calling Perez a flop (in effect) but not now.

    • Ram Kishore

Team talk is just like another HITC

    • I think Rafa himself has lost faith in Joselu. Hasn’t started him in ages, even despite Gayle’s form in the last few games.
Joss can still prove useful if we had Goalscoring wingers but we don’t as he can link play and feed a fast attacker with a flick-on from a cross/high ball.

      • thewildchimp

Mitro can do all that but better and he got axed, so no chance for Joss. His only chance of staying is that we don’t manage to offload him or that Rafa walks away and Ashley decides to keep him.

Hoss had plenty of playing time, during the season, perhaps too much. I agree with SF below even Benitez has come to realise Hoss can’t cut it in the PL, that’s why Dwight, whose own form was terrible, was first choice at the end of the season

      • Fireman Sam

Rafe focuses very much on the team, and he is looking for what he calls “quality”

Joselu works hard for the team, but he is not as strong as say, mitrovic or even Slimani at holding the ball up. which I think is what Rafa was looking for from him.

Joselu doesn’t have the pace, and he cant finish.

I think Gayle has improved through the season. He was a poacher, and a very good one at that, but he does have some quality, which is his pace.

Gayle is a good back up.

Dubravka and Kenedy are priorities, then whatever is left has to go on the best striker we can find.

    • Fireman Sam

He is pants, some of the chances he missed this season were embarassing

    • Geordiegiants

He is a flop as a goal scorer, and that is what strikers are supppse to do. He had lot of heart and wants to play, but so did Mitro and the pair of them were equally as poor for us in front of goal.

  • 1957

The Chelsea players issue aside, I can’t see clubs knocking our door down to sign the Hoss.

Would Tammy be the answer to our striker woes, not for me

  • Come&TakeIt1836

I could see Benitez trying to sign one of the two permanently and bringing the other in on loan. I predicted as much in a previous post a few days ago. I doubt Abraham is thought to be the single answer to our striking woes but could be a part of a group of at least three offensive players (including a #10) brought in that replaces much if not all of the current striker group. Add to Abraham an out of favor striker from a top 6 side and then either a foreign option or pickup from a relegated side… whichever ones fit Rafa’s fancy.

    • Fireman Sam

Chuck Vardy in that team (including Kenedy and Dubravka) with Shelvey pinging balls for him and we would be challenging top six. I’m not saying champions league, but I think Arsenal and Chelsea were there fore the taking this season. And Spurs may have peaked if Poch gets a bit too greedy.

4th place is up for grabs next season.

We need a quality attacker and then some squad depth.

    • Jumped up carpark ho

Tammy Abrahams not gonna happen hes over rated and rafa just watched him get relegated plus lets be honest its going to be a priority position to fill so we will be looking at experience

      • Come&TakeIt1836

The likelihood of any specific player is always low but Abraham is at least a known previous target of Rafa’s and he may feel TA wasn’t developed or set up to be a success properly and that he can do better. The aspects you reference might create a better value allowing for outright purchase at a comparative budget price.

And I think he would be the replacement for Joselu. The want-away player from a top 6 side I suggested (whomever that might could be in specific) would be the first choice, more developed, more experienced player replacing Gayle.

  • 5floorshigh

Good quality strikers and attack minded players will not want to be part of the Rafa ‘park the bus’ tactic……so thinking it will be difficult to sign such players

    • Fireman Sam

Rubbish, all Rafa has to do is show them the chances Joselu, Gayle and Mitrovic have missed and ask them how many they think they could have converted.

Any decent striker would have had 20 goals for us this season, and that is just missing the chances Joselu has missed.

Go back to your cheesy chips

      • theoriginalbomberman

What chances did Mitrovic miss this season exactly? His one sub appearance over ten minutes he scored. He has had zero chances under Benitez.

    • Magic mick

There is no ‘park the bus’ tactic in 90% of games only against the likes of city etc. (Aiming for survival and keeping an eye on goal difference) other than that we attack a lot more shots in most lower league games

    • Peter Graham

You sound like Ghost and Monkseaton.

  • Fireman Sam

A new owner coming in quickly would be a dream, but that is exactly what that line of thought is, a dream. Mike Ashley is getting a great return on his ownership of NUFC and anyone wanting the club, will have to pay that premium. His interest in the club is not success on the pitch.

It is unlikely that anyone will pay that premium, and therefore, the best we can hope for is someone giving Fat Mike’s head a good shake, and him realising that he can actually significantly profit from backing Rafa. Fat mike can not fail here, all has to do is take a punt on Rafa. The worst outcome is a mid table finish. The best possible outcome would be Europe qualification or a cup.

Surely that is why Mike got into this, and has clung on for more than ten years. Imagine all that ‘free’ advertising that Rafa could give him.

The transfer kittly has to be at least £50m otherwise it is clear that the money is being directed away from the football club, in complete contrast with fat mikes public statements.

The first priority is to secure Rafa on a new deal, give him control and a fair budget.

Then get Dubravka and Kennedy signed up.

After that, we only need quality.

One or two top player in the attacking areas.

Where would another 20 goals put us? We have lost or drawn games we could have won with those goals, games we had the chances.

Unfortunately, Fat Mike measures success with how little he has to spend, not how much he can gain, with a premier league club guaranteed to keep bringing the money in for him.

    • Paul Patterson

Trouble with the Rafa signing point, is that he is unlikely to sign unless assurances are in place to get the required quality. Dubravka will not be enough to convince him and nor should it be . .

    • Geordiegiants

Kennedy will not be signing, I think that is pretty much certain.

      • Andy Mac

I agree. He did a job but value for money (knowing Chelski) he is not.

        • Geordiegiants

Jabba will definetly not pay for him. He should be our level of signing, but it’s not going to happen.

  • Wezza147

Loans loans loans why all the loans? 125.9M prize/tv money for this season. We could easily pay for Dubravka and Kenedy right from the start if the club owner showed ambition. Oh wait.

  • Sing in the Leazes

how come we’ve had 3 loanees since January if the limit is two at a time?
