Premier League Form Table – Interesting ahead of Newcastle v Chelsea

The Premier League form table has taken a bit of a hit for Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Only Swansea have also lost their last four matches and they are set to fill the final relegation spot, their hopes hanging by an almost thread.

As for Newcastle, these past four losses were preceded by impressive victories over Leicester and Arsenal.

As for the visitors, Chelsea actually top the Premier League form table.

Conte’s men have won their last three away matches at Swansea, Southampton and Burnley, as well as beating  Liverpool at home.

That result really opened up the possibility of fourth place for the West London club but a gritty Huddersfield side fighting for survival, have almost certainly derailed that effort.

To reach the Champions League, Chelsea now have to beat Newcastle AND see Brighton win at Liverpool.

Chelsea actually have the third best away record in the division: Man City have picked up an astonishing 47 points on their travels, then Spurs with 34 and Chelsea 33.

The blues are fourth highest scorers away from home with 32 goals, whilst only Man City better them on goals conceded, Conte’s team conceding 19 goals in 18 away matches.

As for Newcastle, only three clubs have scored less than NUFC’s 18 goals at home, with only six conceding less than Newcastle’s 17.

Antonio Conte is expected to get the push despite being the reigning champions and an FA Cup final to look forward to next Saturday, you really have to feel for Chelsea fans don’t you…

With three wins and a draw in the last four games at home to Chelsea, no reason why Newcastle have anything to fear.

With pride and a possible top half finish the only honours Newcastle can earn from this game, that could well be enough with the NUFC players surely well up for making this the right kind of performance to end the season.
