Only eight days after completing the semi-final success against Rangers, Newcastle United were back at St James Park to face Ujpest Dozsa in the first leg of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final.
The Hungarian opposition were one of Europe’s top teams at the time and after an hour the game was still without a goal.
However, Bobby Moncur chose this match to score his first ever senior goal for Newcastle…and then he added a second!
Jimmy Scott added a third and perfectly set United up for what would prove to be an eventful second leg in Budapest…
