Another superb display by Mohamed Diame on Sunday.
The Newcastle midfielder vying with Jonjo Shelvey for the man of the match accolade.
The pair of them totally bossing the midfield to give Newcastle the platform for an excellent 3-0 win.
Whilst we all love goals and attacking play, one of the highlights for me was to see Mohamed Diame totally dominate N’Golo Kante, Diame repeatedly hassling the Chelsea midfielder and catching him in possession.
That is really something considering just how excellent Kante is.
On Tuesday morning stats have been published showing which Premier League players have put in the most tackles.
The full list is below and Mohamed Diame comes a very respectable 11th place with 89 tackles but…
The Newcastle midfielder has actually done far better than that 11th place in reality, this is his season compared to the three players who filled the top three places.
138 Wilfred Ndidi
Played 2899 PL minutes and his 138 tackles came at a rate of 1 every 21.01 minutes
117 Idrissa Gueye
Played 2757 PL minutes and his 117 tackles came at a rate of 1 every 23.56 minutes
113 N’Golo Kante
Played 2998 PL minutes and his 113 tackles came at a rate of 1 every 26.53 minutes
89 Mohamed Diame
Played 2042 PL minutes and his 89 tackles came at a rate of 1 every 22.94 minutes
Reality is, that Wilfred Ndidi deserves top spot in every way but arguably, Mohamed Diame outperformed both Gueye and Kante.
