Michael Owen has been looking ahead to Wednesday night at Wembley.

The net result of Newcastle losing their last three games is that they can no longer finish as high as eighth and indeed it is now in the balance whether Rafa’s team will end up top half.

For Tottenham, their four points from the last four matches has put them at risk of a far greater calamity.

Spurs now needing to win their last two games if they are to guarantee Champions League football next season.

As Michael Owen points out: ‘Both teams suffered disappointing defeats at the weekend.’

However, the single goal defeats for both, were achieved in totally different ways.

Whilst Spurs totally dominated but failed to hit the net and were hit by a 92nd minute sucker punch, Newcastle gifted a two goal first half lead to Watford that could have been far worse, before ending the game relatively strongly and almost grabbing a late equaliser.

Despite both clubs being in a bad run of form, Michael Owen thinks the desire for Champions League football will ensure Tottenham win.

In fact, he is so confident of this, that his betting  tip is for Spurs to be winning at both half-time and full-time, at miserly odds of only 4/7.

Remarkably, believe it or not, Newcastle have won their last three Premier League away games at Tottenham, hopefully the temporary move to Wembley won’t affect that run.

November 2013 saw Loic Remy grab the winner and grab three points thanks to a Tim Krul stand out display.

October 2014 we had Sammy Ameobi scoring a few seconds after the break, Ayoze Perez completing the job as NUFC won after going in at half-time 1-0 down.

Then December 2015 they repeated that medicine, Spurs leading and dominating, only for Mitro to score with 16 minutes remaining and Perez once again getting the winner, in the last minute.

A repeat of any of those three scenarios would be acceptable!

Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:

“Both sides suffered disappointing defeats at the weekend.

“But I expect the hosts – with the carrot of a top four finish and Champions League qualification – to keep the points in the capital following this Wembley clash.

United have lost their last three.

“But are still in pole position for a top ten finish although, with Chelsea the visitors to St James’s Park on Sunday, it is fair to say Newcastle have a demanding last week of the season.

“Prediction is Spurs to lead at half time and full time at 4/7”
