Matz Sels makes Belgium’s World Cup Squad list
Matz Sels has been named in Belgium’s initial World Cup squad list.
Roberto Martinez naming an initial 28 man squad to be considered for the tournament, with that set to be reduced to the final 23 man selection by 4 June at the very latest.
Despite continuing to be a regular in the national squad, including the latest squad in March 2018, Matz Sels is still yet to actually play at senior level for his country.
The Newcastle keeper usually ranked behind Chelsea’s Courtois and Liverpool’s Mignolet.
In total, Roberto Martinez has named 13 Premier League players, including the three goalkeepers, in an initial squad of 28.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is set to captain the side in Russia this summer.
Belgium of course play England in the final group match in Russia on 28 June.

At club level, Anderlecht have had an indifferent season but Matz Sels has had plenty of football with 37 appearances, generally performing well.
Anderlecht have made clear they want to sign him permanently but affording anything like his Newcastle wages and NUFC expecting most of their £6m back, could prove problematic.
