Aleksandar Mitrovic starts for Fulham tonight as they try to make up for last season’s play-off disappointment.

The Cottagers couldn’t quite pull back Cardiff’s lead but go into the play-offs as favourites to reach the Premier League, though it looks a tough one.

Tonight they are away at Derby, whilst Middlesbrough play Villa in their first leg tomorrow.

Indeed, if you wanted some extra interest over and above Newcastle and/or to extend the season, then there is NUFC interest throughout each league’s play-offs.

Whilst Mitro contests the Championship ones, Newcastle loan striker is in the League One play-offs.

His loan club Scunthorpe take on Rotherham on Saturday lunchtime in their first leg.

There is actually kind of NUFC interest in the other tie, as Lee Bowyer is caretaker boss at Charlton. They actually lost their first leg of the semi last night, 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury.

Then in League Two, we have manager Kevin Nolan and players Shola Ameobi & Alan Smith trying to take Notts County into League One.

The ex-NUFC trio are away at Coventry on Saturday night in the first leg of their semi.

Good luck to everybody with black and white links in the various play-offs.

Watching the game already stand out player. Looks fitter and stronger than ever did at Newcastle

  • Gianfranco Shola

Kevin Nolan future Newcastle manager perhaps? Seems to have done a cracking job at Notts County and was always a natural leader on the pitch and well liked by the fans. Not that that necessarily means he’d be the next Bobby Robson like

    Should never be at Fulham.

Derby have scored… Just a lottery the play offs. I hope ‘boro get up and more north east teams, I couldn’t care less about Fulham…

I take it the Scunthorpe player is Ivan Toney. Really should proof read before posting.

Fulham will be better in the second leg. Derby won’t handle the pressure of the lead and wembley calling
