Don Goodman has given Aleksandar Mitrovic rave reviews as the Newcastle loan striker tears it up at Fulham.

Goodman was a Sunderland star in the early 90s and Mitro helped send the Mackems on their way to League One as rock bottom finishers, with yet another quality winner last weekend.

Don Goodman has been very impressed and as one of the EFL panel, has now awarded Championship player of the month to Mitro for a second month in a row.

Mitro has scored 12 goals in his last 13 games for Fulham and helping them to secure a play-off spot and still a possibility of automatic promotion

Don Goodman wonder s just how much better Fulham could have done if Aleksandar Mitrovic had been at Craven Cottage all season…

Former Sunderland striker and now pundit, Don Goodman was part of the judging panel:

“Back to back awards for the striker who can’t stop scoring.

“Goals in all but one of April’s games proved the difference for Fulham in their crusade to pile the pressure on Cardiff.

“You wonder how good Fulham’s season could’ve been had he been there from the start.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford was also one of the judges deciding the Championship player of the month award:

“It takes something special to scoop back-to-back player of month awards but Mitrovic’s fine form in March has shown no signs of slowing into April.

“He plays with the steely determination you need to succeed in the Championship and the passion for his loan club is there for all to see.

“Goals in all but one of Fulham’s six games in the month and an even bigger role could await if Fulham are to navigate their way through the Play-Offs.”

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic on Aleksandar Mitrovic:

“He’s had a huge impact.

“He showed the quality he has fighting with this team and he’s doing a great job for us.

“We’re very satisfied to have him and we hope he’s going to play a big part in Fulham’s promotion.”

Aleksandar Mitrovic

“It feels great.

“I’m glad for the award but I’m even happier that the team is doing well and keep winning games.

“We have one game to go before the end of the regular season, so we have to focus on this game to try and win and see what happens with Cardiff.

“Coming to Fulham has gone much better than I could have ever expected and I hope it can continue.”

The question is, would he have made a difference to our season if he wasn`t on Rafa`s schitt list

    • gold coast mag

we’ll never know, but i think he would have knocked in a few of the sitters our current centre forwards have butchered

      • Billmag

He hasn’t scored with every chance he’s had, this forum highlights his goals but not his misses.

        • mentalman

the difference is there’s a lot more goals to highlight than our current strikers

          • Billmag

Different league less chances in the Premier.

          • mentalman

most of the defences in the prem are no better than whats in the championship

          even Shearer missed a few

He’s gone, let it go!…..hopefully never to come back, the biggest disaster ever inflicted on United by Carr.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      That list is endless.
We`ll get £15m to £20m for him, but i wouldn`t be putting money on him being replaced by a £20m striker

      • Leazes.

Interesting months ahead Moose, something must surely give, but if I may quote myself ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if nothing much happens’ and Ashley disappears on holiday to his Florida mansion without leaving Charnley his phone number or authorisation to do anything.

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

That`s more then likely, i think Ashley will roll the dice again

A bit overdramatic, Leazes? I do wonder how your evenings look like, if it’s like this in the morning… :D

      • Leazes.

  • Billmag

We have done ok without him and we will never know how much better off we would have been with him, or we could have finished worse off with him in the team, it’s history move on.

    • Mike Adam

Sure we did ok, but it was due to defending. We were shut out “14” times this season and our top scoring striker has 5 goals.

  • Coble’s Return

I have to be honest and say that Mitro’s record at Fulham does make me wonder whether he could do a job for us. I had him written off for his failure to grasp opportunities as they came up – ether be fluffing his chances or due to his woeful temperament. I do think now though that we could sell him on and then regret the decision.

    • Danimal

Pace or no pace, at the moment he seems to have rediscovered his confidence. There was a top corner finish a couple of weeks ago that he just wouldn’t have made for us, whatever division. I think he does better when he gets 90 minutes and a run in the team. Maybe he doesn’t thrive on the pressure of being a 15 minute impact sub. To be fair, not many do.

  • Monkseaton Magpies

To be fair this happens every season. Fulham start really badly and the second half of the season they are the top form team. They have other good players apart from Mitro.

  • MadMag83

You could say the same about Kenedy and Dubravka. Obviously a Mackem out to stir the pot.

    • Clarko

How is he stirring the pot?

  • Dan Robson

Let him play the last game of the domestic season and recall him for the last 2 fixtures. Unless it states in his loan he has to play in the playoffs. Slimani is banned and we could do with an in-form striker against Spurs & Chelsea.

    • Leazes.

You cant do that he’s under contract with another club and wouldn’t or should I say couldn’t get a squad number here.

  • John D Williams

He is too slow for the premier league, if Fulham get promoted sell him, In current form we should get at least £15 million this can then be used towards our “new” striker. Gayle, Joselu will also have to go, give Adam Armstrong game time in pre season friendlies, see if he is up to “back up” striker.

    • mentalman

We are to sell a striker who scores in the prem and in the championship and have armstrong who struggles to score in the championship as back up?

    • CaptainCaveman

I’d rather keep Gayle than Armstrong. If Benitez thought Armstrong was any good then he wouldn’t have signed Joselu.

    • Leicester Mag

What’s the basis for this assessment? His goal ratio in his first season in a [email protected] team was reasonable. His international record is very impressive. Never played last year or this year. Letting him go will be latest in a string of lash ups.

  • TheNutJob

Mitro`s happy where he is, so is Rafa. didn`t work out but i wish him all the luck in the world.

  • Kneebotherm8

How good could our season have been if kenedy and dubravka had been there from the start?……
