The Newcastle team v Tottenham has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez going for a win after watching his team lose three games in a row for the first time since December.

The Newcastle boss missing Islam Slimani, Ciaran Clark and Christian Atsu.

A killer fact is that Newcastle have won only one of their last 50 away matches against clubs in the top four of the Premier League.

Also, Tottenham have won their last 17 home games against teams promoted from the Championship.

Stats that are there to be smashed!

Rafa predictably makes two changes…with it being back to the usual starting 11, Ritchie & Yedlin coming back in for Murphy & Manquillo, who both disappointed at Watford when given a chance.

That pair dropping to the bench, the other five subs the same as at Vicarage Road, pointing to the lack of options Rafa has.

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Kenedy, Perez, Gayle

Subs:

Darlow, Manquillo, Hayden, Joselu, Haidara, Merino, Murphy

Tottenham eleven:

Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Wanyama, Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane

Subs:

Vorm, Rose, Alderweireld, Foyth, Lamela, Lucas, Llorente

Who was the 1 in 50 victory against? Please tell…

  • Andy Mac

Last three games Spuds DWL NUFC LLL so everything to play for ? Shame we couldnt have brought Obafemi back for one last game 🤔

  • Pablo Gibbon Bailey

only criticism of mp is why don’t u play bloody lucas Moura he’s better than son and lamela tho i still like son and lamela but lucas looks more able to break defences down

    • Dillon Tovak

You’re talking to the wrong crowd here. But anyway, better than Son?

  • Coach Clagnut

    Sissoko true to form

  • paul mclaughlan

    Not many comments tonight.

    • Leazes.

      I’m on the beach

      • Kneebotherm8

Spurs were flipping flops tonight……….they looked like the ones on the beach….

  • Dillon Tovak

Decent performance but notice how all optimism evaporated as soon as Kenedy went off. Not that he was spectacular tonight.
Is that his last kick for us?

    • Jezza

More than likely. We’ll spend weeks trying to get him on another loan deal then some far more ambitious club like Burnley will come in, put up the £20 million and buy him.

  • Billmag

Thought we played excellent tonight flagged a bit at the end, but I must say Shelvey was head and shoulders above an England regular Ali, Kane had 2 chance’s all night and scored 1of them, that’s what you get with a top striker.

    • Jezza

Yes and that’s exactly what we have been missing for years. Our strikers seem to put away one in fifty chances.

      • Coach Clagnut

Spuds couldn’t have complained if they’d gone in 3 down at half-time.

        • Danimal

They’d have been bloody surprised though, bearing in mind the unremarkable prowess of our forward players.

      • Billmag

        If only.

    • Kneebotherm8

      Just what we haven’t got………..

      • Billmag

        Spot on unfortunately.

  • Danimal

Makes me sick that we’re going to finish below Woy and in all likelihood two or three others. But would have bitten your hand off (whoever you are) for 17th place last August. Will be interesting to read Fatty and his envoys here on earth (Bobbi’s Monkseaton Ghostbusters Cult) explaining that the £50m underspend was caused by losing that £7m league place prize money. Merry Summer Everyone. Cheers.

    • Coach Clagnut

So, you’ve met the trolls…cult…I like it!

      • Jezza

Yes a cult of two sad lonely socially disfunctional brothers from Manchester.

        • Coach Clagnut

Might be the autism spectrum though but.

          • Danimal

Does that come after the summer transfer window?

          • Coach Clagnut

That’s the Fatty accounting method I reckon. All the cult’s members seem to agree Fatty has spent a fortune on the team since we were unlucky enough to attract him.

          • Danimal

Well the smarmy one (Bobbi) will try to convince you that Fatty has spent a fortune. Then the cretinous ones (Ghost etc) will say that no money has been spent as a result of our unique geographical position.

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Hey Jezza, I’m just waiting for our kid to come back with ‘ barn cakes.

          Ya thick wazzak

      • Danimal

Meet the Trolls. Is that the one with Robert De Niro and Dustbin Hoffman? I wonder which one plays Clarko…now I’m thinking about The Rain Man. Yes, cult, they’re all a bunch of C U Last Tuesdays.

        • Coach Clagnut

The Dunning – Kruger effect would be my guess. They all fit the profile.

    • Andy Mac

I only read “makes me sick” and I agreed !

  • Coach Clagnut

Shelvey was imperious throughout, never missed a beat. The shyte finishing done for us.
For a team looking at the beach we played them off the park for the most part.

    • Danimal

Beach and park in the same metaphor…that’s literally imperious.

      • Coach Clagnut

Well Shelvey had oceans of space to aim his harpoon-like missiles as we drowned out their midfield.

        • Andy Mac

Maybe Rafa collected up all their passports ?🤔

          • Coach Clagnut

            There’s a thought.

          • Kneebotherm8

He fired them up somehow……….that’s probably how he did it…..😂😂

  • MadMag83

Losing to Spurs and our only striker on the bench was Joselu….

  • Andy Mac

Top scorer has 8 goals next is Gayle with 6. Talk about threadbare. This dysfunctional club continues to astound but for how much longer ? Fatman has to be forced out otherwise we’ll be living on our nerves every season until he croaks !

    • Danimal

      Wish he would.

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Newcastle were very unlucky tonight and did not deserve to lose.
We should have had at least a point with the chances we had but alas our players are not up to the standard at times when it comes to being clinical in front of goal !
