Newcastle United take on Porto tonight for a place in the final of The Premier League International Cup.
The game against last year’s Champions Porto will take place on 7pm kick-off and good luck to the NUFC Under 23s as they attempt to reach the final.
If you can get along and support Newcastle’s young stars, the kick-off us 7pm at St James Park and admission is free for season ticket holders/members, otherwise it is £3 adults and £1 concessions – entry is via the East Stand.
The match is a great opportunity for NUFC’s younger players to impress on the bigger stage, with the game at St James Park.
Hopefully a decent crowd will turn out and for those fans who can’t make it on the night, the game will be shown on the club’s NUFC TV (it is a simple process to register – entering your email address and creating a password HERE).
Porto won 5-0 against Sunderland in the final last year and if Newcastle progress tonight, they will meet Arsenal in this season’s final, the young Gunners having won on penalties against Villarreal earlier this week.
In this year’s competition, Newcastle lost to Liverpool in the group stages but beat both Sparta Prague and PSV to progress.
They then won a derby against Sunderland after a lengthy penalty shoot-out at the Stadium of Light.
Obviously, tonight would be the same, with extra-time and possibly penalties if not decided in 90 minutes.
