Former Newcastle star Davide Santon and his Tyneside born partner Chloe Sanderson, have both received death threats.

The death threats sparked by events on Saturday night.

Inter Milan were playing at home to Juventus and after the visitors scored on 13 minutes, Inter then had a man sent off five minutes later.

Despite being a man down against the club who have won the league six times in a row, the home side somehow fought back to lead 2-1.

Then with five minutes to go, they brought on Davide Santon as a late sub.

Defeat for Juventus would open up the title race for Napoli to potentially win it and break Juve’s stranglehold, however, within four minutes of the one-time Newcastle defender’s introduction, it was suddenly Juventus 3-2 up.

The Inter supporters blamed Davide Santon for both goals and following Saturday’s match, the player and his partner have seen their social media accounts receive a torrent of abuse from fans.

Messages saying they hope the pair get cancer, as well as death threats.

It shows that the UK doesn’t have exclusivity when it comes to vile people cowardly using social media.

Chloe Sanderson via her Instagram account:

“Football is a sport of passion.

 “I understand and appreciate that.

“But for the first time in my life I am scared in my own home alone with my baby…

“When I’m told to lock my doors and I have to worry how my partner will get home tonight.

“It’s not okay.

“NO ONE is more devastated about the result tonight than Davide.”

Imagine if the Pig used social media, he`d have a 1000 death threats an hour

Taking down the SD website would be a good start. Any bored tekkies out there?

      • thewildchimp

Not worth it. The website would be soon up and you’d end in jail soon enough. Though it would be an hour or so of fun, I admit.

I doubt it our fans are masochists not sadists.

        Very true Leazes. 👏

There is, or was, a web site called something like slap your facebook, where you could give virtual slaps to portraits of various people and they would eventually turn all bloody.
Ashley received more blows than Hitler.

You don’t even know the name of the website so you deserve a slap

Appalling and no player should have to take abuse like that. Bring him back to Newcastle.

  • Wor Lass

It`s pathetic and disgusting but articles like this with sensationalised headlines just give complete nupties the idea that there`s some sort of glory in abusing people like this. The sort of weedy nerds who sit in their bedrooms sending out vile threats of this sort wouldn`t last 10 seconds if they said something face to face.

Ah you’ve discovered the dark arts of journalism! Not quite as direct as Lee Ryder trying his best to create a ‘War’ between us and Aston Villa fans though. It was almost as if the two sister papers (Chron and Birmingham Mail) were given an order to create hatred from nothing.

      • Wor Lass

The Mag bought into that totally. If Villa get promoted you watch for Sam Hepworth doing an in-depth review of the bedsheet scandal and a plastic Geordie analysis.

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Yep, Villa have always been a similar sort of club to us and had we played a ‘big’ club on the last day to send them down, I’m sure we’d have had a giggle too.

Any animosity from then was reversed last season.

        • MadMag83

There’s no need to continue the phoney war with Villa. They helped us win the title last season so it’s water under the bridge as far as I see it.

It’s just how football goes some games, but death threats ? Do these people have Roma as their 2nd team. Cowards, all of them.

We need to stop worrying about what goes on elsewhere until we get our own house in order. Some of the replies to Joselu’s photo of his wife and child is embarassing.

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

      What’s this about Joselu ?

    • Jate Legend

      Excellent point

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Unfortunately this sort of thing is par for the course in Italy.
The fans are stone radge ower there and tend to take things to the extreme like turning up at a clubs training ground and causing a riot, If they think not enough effort is being put in etc

OK he’s made a couple of mistakes still at least a team in black and white will win something
