The Newcastle team v Leicester has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez going for a fourth win in six games.

Islam Slimani not eligible to play as it is a game against his parent club.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with, a familiar looking line-up that has started four of the last five matches (Liverpool the odd one out):

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Kenedy, Perez, Gayle

and the Subs:

Darlow, Manquillo, Clark, Atsu, Merino, Joselu, Hayden

So, the same team that beat Huddersfield and on the bench, Joselu in for Slimani and Merino for Murphy,

Leicester Starting 11:

Schmeichel, Simpson, Maguire, Morgan, Chilwell, Iborra, Silva, Diabaté, Albrighton, Mahrez, Vardy

Subs:

Jakupović, Dragović, Fuchs, Choudhury, Gray, Iheanacho, Okazaki

      • TheNutJob

he`s calmed doon, i only got 1 slap on the nappa, it`s in for repair
        😠😠

    • Wor Lass

      Vamos, el Toon!

  • Wor Lass

It`s getting too easy to guess rafa`s line-up these days!

    • TheNutJob

Betvictor`s stopped taking bets on it
      😂

      • Philippines

I thought the odds for L win were strange. I think NUFC are in with a much stronger chance than that indicates.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

I’m usually inclined to agree with you but…
first we give him grief for too much rotation
now we give him grief for not enough
I just hope the match is as entertaining as the first

      • Wor Lass

I wasn`t complaining! It`ll be interesting to see what he does when he thinks we`re safe. I reckon he`ll keep a strong line-up like this to get us as high up the league as possible. it`s not out of the question that we could finish in the top half.

        • TheNutJob

that`s cos he wants his £1m bonus

  • Wor Lass

Laugh of the day: Neil Warnock telling anyone that they lack class. I love what the Bury supporters call him, an anagram of his actual name – Colin W*nker. Ha! perfect.

  • robbersdog

I still get nervous when I see Joselu’s name – even on the subs bench.

    • TheNutJob

      you`re not the only one

  • vd

a point would be great today

  • Wor Lass

    Good start by the lads.

    • TheNutJob

must be a breeze Ayoze`s been blown over
      /😂😂
      playing ok

  • TheNutJob

    Jonjo 1_0
    assist to Ayoze

    • Wor Lass

      I`ve got 1-0 to us on m,y Super 6!

      • TheNutJob

        😂😂😂

  • robbersdog

    1-0

It’s ridiculous that Jake Livermore is in the England squad, and Jonjo Shelvey isn’t.

Shelvey’s on fire right now, and Livermore’s nicking taxis.

    • TheNutJob

      look who`s manager

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

    top 10!!

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

had that been a united player doing the shoving they’d have been off. especially if it was again a top 6 side.

  • Coach Clagnut

Unbelievably weak refereeing. That was a red all day for Maguire.

  • Wor Lass

Sounds like Dummy`s having a good one.

    • Coach Clagnut

Put a great tackle in on Mahrez in the box. Reckon the other linesman would have gave it( screaming for a penalty) as he’s as bad as the ref.

  • Coach Clagnut

Steptoe’s falling down a lot. Cheating little shyt.

  • Wor Lass

Waugh`s really bigging up Ayoze. I`m pleased he`s hitting a bit of form – long may it continue.

    • TheNutJob

he`s playing well, they all are

  • TheNutJob

the commentators are saying Jonjo should be in the England suad

    • Coach Clagnut

If Jake Liversalts is in Jonjo should be a shoe-in.

      • TheNutJob

        exactly

    • thewildchimp

I think everyone but the FA staff are saying it. :)

  • Coach Clagnut

    Lejeune’s having a stormer.

  • thewildchimp

If we win, Diame MotM. They can’t even pass into his area.

  • Coach Clagnut

Clear foul on Kenedy, totally ignored but we’re getting yellow carded left, right & centre.

    • TheNutJob

      he`s a homer

      • Coach Clagnut

        Big time!

  • TheNutJob

    Brilliant goal PEREZ

  • Paul Smith

WOW great finish by Perez… I was slaughtering him lasts week. Doing much better this week. And Paul Dummet is an absolute defensive beast.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

    fantastic!

  • Coach Clagnut

Schmeichel now knows how his father felt when Albert extracted the urine back in the day.

    • TheNutJob

      😂😂😂

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

things stay the way they are the Toon will be 5-4-2 in the EPL in 2018. Masterful job by Rafa. With the form the side are currently in, it’s a shame Burnley are basically nailed on for 7th, because it’d almost give us hope.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

welp. going to be a rough last 7+

  • ToonTom

    1-2 now

  • ToonTom

Have we learned anything from Bournemouth?

  • ToonTom

Wouldn’t it be lovely to go into the closing minutes of a game with a two-goal lead or more???

  • Coach Clagnut

Hard to criticise Dubravka overall but I thought he could have done better with that one.

    • TheNutJob

he should never have got the header in he was between 2 defenders

    • thewildchimp

All of them did. Little Okazaki outjumped them. :)
Martin is a great shot-stopper, but makes poor decisions when to come off the line,

      • Paul Smith

Disagree. I think 1 of his biggest strengths is commanding his area and coming to claim crosses. It happens time and time again. And even if he hadn’t come for that cross, our defenders didn’t get the ball and it would have been asking a lot of Dubravka to prevent the goal after the ball was headed back across the 6 yard box.

        • thewildchimp

That’s the catch. You can do it perfectly 10 times during a match but misjudge one and you lose the game. He has the tendency to do so and is eager to charge when sometimes he shouldn’t. I played a lot as a keeper on the concrete and I know exactly what I’m talking about because I made the very same mistakes. “Carbon copy”, to be precise. But I have no doubts he’ll iron that out – after all, he’s almost in his prime years. He needs a season or a half more of top flight experience in order to come around and if we don’t lose him, I think he’ll make history at this club.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    Safe

  • Coach Clagnut

Job’s a gudun. Defence immense. Leicester had 1 effort on goal and Dubravka didn’t make a save.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

i`m putting that down to the defenders

      • Coach Clagnut

        especially Lejeune & Dummett.

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

One mistake all game, otherwise they were top class

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Yep, Dummett was hesitant for the goal, as was the keeper.

  • MadMag83

    Where are the Rafa haters?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      In Sunderland

    • thewildchimp

They weren’t around for quite some time. :)

    • Jezza

They are both sat in front of the telly preparing to watch their team get stuffed by Man City.

    • Coach Clagnut

      Under their rocks.

    • Pozz Mozz

They are happy that Rafa heard them and playing as they wanted. All is forgiven.

    • Lord

They are annoyed about Mitro scoring again

      • MadMag83

That’s probably about right. For me though Rafa has played a blinder with Mitrovic, if he scores loads of goals for Fulham then he potentially increases his sale price, had he been awful then Rafa would could say I told you so. No lose situation for him really. Well done to Mitrovic though for responding in the right way.

  • Mrkgw

Phenominal effort and result. We couldn’t have asked for much more than that today. Here’s to another season in the Premiership. Well done to Rafa, the players and supporters.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

Knock a Bog down get the Statue up, St Rafael of St James`
      😂😂😂

    • Jezza

Rafa deserves the manager of the year award for getting this squad into the top half of the Premiership at this late stage of the season. The man is a miracle worker. Back in August I genuinely believed we would struggle to get 20 points all season.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

Never a truer word said Jezza

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

if Jezza hadn’t blocked me for disagreeing with him (once) he’d know I completely concur!

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            😂😂😂

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Ha ha, Jezza blocked me when he welched on a bet, what did you do?

            He’s never got anything right.

          • Coach Clagnut

Using your criteria for opinion, he’s in good company ain’t he Mancwank.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

The other liar is Leazes’, the rest are just easily led. I’m not sure if they aren’t the same people with alter egos.

Both seem to make rubbish up, whine like mad and believe the world owed them a living.

      • Mrkgw

Yes, I have been critical on the odd occassion but in fairness, he deserves the plaudits and has done well. We would be in a much worse position were it not for him.

        • Jezza

Yes and we would be in an even better position if it wasn’t for Ashley refusing to back Rafa in the transfer market.

      • Ba ba.

100%..jezza he has turned us around and made us a very difficult team to beat… Absolute genius. .. To get a tune out of this squad is magnificent .. .Hardly any injuries tight defence and goals spread across the team… 👍

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

the lad`s were brilliant today, every one of them !

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

If we manage to finish top half Rafa ought to be EPL manager of the year. To get those sort of results with these sort of players is almost entirely down to instilling and maintaining their belief in his system. Marvelous.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

it’ll go to Guardiola of course

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

If he wins today Pep will get it

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

they’ll reward him for having an open check book

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

Another £300m to spend, it`s obscene

          • Paul Smith

Man U also had an open cheque book. In fact I think they spent more than City this season. All Man City’s managers of recent years have had an open cheque book and none of them have gotten close to Guardiola’s level of dominance in the league.

That being said I think Sean Dyche should get manager of the season. If there was a manager of 2018 award id give it to Benitez for the results we’ve had this year.

      • Coach Clagnut

There’s still hope considering Pardnocchio won it without winning a pot.

    • Damon Horner

Pound for pound it should be Rafa or Dyche but I reckon you’re right with Guardiola…

    • Paul Smith

I think Sean Dyche has to be manager of the year. Burnley have over achieved on pre season expectations far beyond any other team this season.

I think people have forgotten that before the season kicked off Burnley were one of the 3 bookies favourites to be relegated. They were already considered a relegation fighting team and then they sold their 2 key players in Michael Keane and Andre Grey.

If it was only for 2018 i’d definitely give it to Benitez though.

  • Damon Horner

Form in 2018 has been amazing. Rafa certainly has got the squad in a good place. Far away from 6 weeks prior when Rafa was apparently knocking the confidence out of all the players… have faith lads for once we have a manager who knows what he’s doing!

    • Jezza

I think only Man City and Liverpool have beaten us since Christmas. That is a phenomenal achievement for a suad as deficient as ours. All praise imaginable to Rafa Benitez.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

Can`t fault the man, tactical genius

        • Jezza

It just makes you wonder where we could be now if Fatso had backed Rafa in the transfer window last summer.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            Exactly,

          • kingfisher

Exactly Jezz.It doesn’t bear thinking about what we could have achieved if Ashley had backed Rafa (like he said he would do),and despite todays great result, there will still be those on this site who will criticise Rafa and they will say we have survived because of Ashley. Arise Sir Rafa, the man’s a leg end 😀

          • Coach Clagnut

            You mean Legend surely?

      • Damon Horner

Best outside the top 4 in 2018 i think.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Let’s see if you can be negative about that

        • Coach Clagnut

Your team is about to hand the title to Citeh…enjoy!

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Don’t believe Jezza, he’s a lying, mianing, whining socialist. He hates it when we win.

          • paul mclaughlan

And you’re a shithouse capitalist. And I can guarantee it’s capatalism that’s screwing the world up.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Nothing wrong with capitalism, it encourages a meritocracy where effort and skills are rewarded just like today.

Jezza’s biggest flaw is not being a socialist, I can forgive that, it’s the whining negetivity and out and out lies I can’t stand.

Plus he welched on a charity bet.

          • Coach Clagnut

Explain A.B.pfeffel Johnson & W.Rees – Mong. Privilege goes further than effort in the rigged game of money fever.

Or Jeremy Corbyn who’s CV extends to posh parents did well for themselves, daddy’s money allowed him to not bother with a job so activism was fun then Daddy got him into politics.

            Disgusting waster of a man.

          • Coach Clagnut

Jezza seems an honourable man in my opinion. Whereas you sir, are a plum.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

I hope Fatso takes notice and realises he`s got 1 of the best in Rafa

    • Jezza

All he’ll be taking notice alright. He’ll be working out how much compensation he can get when the top clubs come calling for Rafa in the summer.

      • Wor Lass

None – it`ll be the final year of his contract.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      he’ll take notice

that he doesn’t have to spend any money to get results as long as Rafa is in the dugout

    • Wor Lass

He`ll be asking what all the fuss was about during the window and paring back his non-budget for next season!

  • Coach Clagnut

You can keep em all, Rafa is the best in the business.

  • TheNutJob

I switched off at 2-1, i couldn`t take the pressure

    • Coach Clagnut

I can put all my HBP issues solely down to N.U.F.C.

If being a true fan just requires you to opposed to the general opinion then ye… Such as sticking up for Ashley and slating Benitez for example.

          • Coach Clagnut

            That’s their mantra.

    • Ba ba.

      He’s doing well

    • thewildchimp

I also hope he was polite enough to thank Schmeichel. It would show that we have a properly behaved squad.

We’re are the #rafa out mob… Fists of steel, ghostrider,I forget the rest of them….. I see we are tenth and that’s down to a minus 8 goal difference . . Nevermind rafa is a dinosaur and na’s nowt.. .. You know who you are and should hang your head in shame.

    • Coach Clagnut

That would require a degree of self-awareness. Asking too much mate.

    • Jezza

They are not a mob. They are two socially inadequate brothers who troll this site under multiple ID’s including the two you mentioned.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

        Lying again Jezza?

      • Desree

Just coming up with new IDs and writing articles about Mitrovic is my guess.

        • Mike Adam

And what is wrong with articles on Mitro and discussion about him as long as they are constructive and positive? He is still Newcastle property and with every additional goal is increasing his value. Let’s hope he does just as wells in the World Cup. And that Ashley sell as well !!!

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

What do you want to do about paying out for that bet? Paypal?

          Don’t welch like Jezza.

      • Mike Adam

Not true Jezza and the rest of you! You have accused me of being one of them. I am not, I am a fan just like you all are. The only difference is that I do question the manager at times, but that does not make me a member of a Rafa out mob, or a reactionary, or any other name you all want to call me. I do agree with you all that some do have an agenda and use bad runs of form and Mitro to attack him, but what I would like to know is why is someone thrown into that group automatically by most of you just because they question something Rafa does???

    • Peaky

Get that put on some banners in the Gallowgate…..

    • Paul Smith

They are a bunch of reactionaries… They will be back here telling us they told us so as soon as we hit another bad patch. Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

      • Ba ba.

100% correct… Next bad patch and boom on his back

Idiot from finland, making his second post. I love you guys, i love nufc and gongratz to everyone for staying in league.. best day in a year.. This year. And ofcourse im drunk again.

    • Coach Clagnut

Splendid. Bit early for me but you go ahead and tie one on.

      • Repa vee

I heard padrew got sacked, is it true? Here one hoping he got 2 teams to championship this year.

        • Coach Clagnut

Mutual consent they reported but aye, he got the Spanish Archer.

  • Mxpx

Glad we got 3 points was nice to see us not drop into our own half and keep the pressure up at the other end I think it’s cost us points earlier nice to see we’ve learned from it

  • KRS1

Rafael is a genius. To be where we are with our net spend is amazing. The guy is a class act. If we had an owner with ambition we could reastically be looking at competing with the top 6.

  • relaxed

    City now 2 up

  • Jimmy_toons

Very good performance I’ve just seen and greatly deserved win.
In the last 3-4 months Benitez has got the measure of the top league with the squad he has, what each player and the team is capable and able to do, and has set them up accordingly.
No one should doubt that our manager is the club’s biggest asset.
If Ashley stays on after the summer – which I suspect he will as he Is on too much of a good thing and making boat loads out of us – and Benitez gets a better offer – which I expect he will – it will be a struggle next year. Fortunately I’m not going to hang around with the FCB in charge any longer.
Get out of our club…United HWTL

    • Coach Clagnut

Rafa’s already said if we get this season out of the way and stay up, the club will be in an excellent position moving forward.
I think he’ll see out his contract then, if fatty’s still here, all bets are off unless there’s an epiphany from fatty.

      • nufcslf

Very true, Rafa is the type of man that will see out his contract. Can only hope that fatty will f**k off when we are safe and Rafa is given a fresh start with a new owner. Time will tell.

        • Coach Clagnut

          Indeed it will.

      • Jimmy_toons

Yeah but unfortunately there isn’t a penalty clause in Benitez’s contract that he has to pay back a year’s salary if he leaves this summer, With his pedigree, there’ll be clubs queuing up to take him on.
Unfortunately it took the pea brains who have ran or owned our club, 9 years to realise if you get a decent manager in, you can get a well run team on the pitch. If you get proper investment and ambition in, we’d be competing in the top 8, and maybe getting further in cup competitions.
Not since SBR left had we had anyone decent running our team, that’s been 12 fn years. Absolutely abysmal and a complete shambles. Can you imagine if we’d havd a decent owner, or board in charge in that time? Beggars belief what we’ve had to put up with really, complete shambles of a club.

        • Jezza

There will be clubs queuing to take Rafa. A few weeks ago I thought the likes of West Ham and Everton would be coming in for him, now it could be Arsenal and Chelsea. Rafa’s remarkable achievements this season most definitely won’t have gone un-noticed. If he can get into the top half of the Premiership with a Championship squad and no money to spend just think what he could do with a top six squad and substantial transfer funds.

  • nufcslf

Thought I would eat my words saying Leicester are a team that could be beat last week. Should have been 2 nil as they never looked like scoring a goal. Nothing like our lot making it brown trousers time for the last 8 to 10 mins. Great win and well done Rafa and those that played.

    • Coach Clagnut

They had 1 effort on goal & Dubravka didn’t make a save all game.
      Shameful for the home team.
Let’s see if the gobshytes in the press and on the telly unleash their fury on psspoor Leicester tactics.
Rafa’s had it in the neck since the season began off blurts not fit to wipe his arris.

      • nufcslf

Totally agree, absolutely no excuse for half hearted home performances with the money it costs to go to matches and the wages the player’s are on. Needs slamming on the telly so manager’s and player’s alike know it isn’t good enough. Glad Leicester took the day off all tge same. Vital 3 points.

  • nufcslf

See Sterling should be shot for his two simple missed chances in the first half, 2 goals by Pogba in as many minutes has got manure level.
