The Premier League International Cup semi-final has been confirmed by Newcastle United.

The game against last year’s winners Porto will take place on Thursday 12 April with a 7pm kick-off.

The match is a great opportunity for NUFC’s younger players to impress on the bigger stage, with the game at St James Park.

Hopefully a decent crowd will turn out and for those fans who can’t make it on the night, the game will be shown on the club’s NUFC TV.

Sunderland were beaten finalists last season, so hopefully Newcastle can get past Porto and then go one better.

Good luck to the NUFC Under 23s as they attempt to reach the final.

In the other semi-final, Arsenal take on Spanish side Villarreal.

Newcastle United Official Announcement:

‘The date for Newcastle United’s Premier League International Cup semi-final tie against holders Porto has been confirmed.

The Portuguese side will travel to St. James’ Park for a 7pm (BST) kick-off on Thursday, 12th April.

The game will be broadcast live on NUFC TV.

Porto beat Sunderland 5-0 in last year’s final and are looking to defend the trophy, having qualified from Group E behind Arsenal – and ahead of Bayern Munich – before beating Liverpool at the quarter-final stage.

Newcastle, meanwhile, were runners-up in Group A with wins against Sparta Prague and PSV, then knocked out local rivals Sunderland earlier this month after a 2-2 draw and an epic penalty shoot-out at the Stadium of Light.’
