Newcastle have had the same number of individual goalscorers as Liverpool but…
Believe it or not, Newcastle United have had the same number of individual goalscorers as Liverpool this season.
Yes, I didn’t quite believe it either, but after a careful recount it is definitely true.
Liverpool have had 15 different players score goals and Newcastle United the same.
That though is where any comparisons start and finish…
Newcastle United have scored 31 goals in all competitions, Liverpool have 101.
Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah, has scored as many goals (31) as the entire Newcastle squad put together.
In fact five different Liverpool players have scored more goals than Newcastle’s top scorer Dwight Gayle.
Including assists, Salah has been involved in 40 Liverpool goals, Newcastle’s best are Gayle and Perez who have been involved in seven goals each.
Obviously winning is important as well but there is really nothing better than watching great football and your team scoring lots of goals, I just hope the Liverpool fans are appreciating it.
As for Newcastle, the fanbase is very understanding of the position Rafa Benitez has been put in and that with the players available, he has little choice but to go for a careful first approach to try and keep the club up.
However, a lot of the football has been difficult to watch this season and the Manager must be backed in the Summer to bring in the creative and goalscoring players he should have been backed with last Summer.
