Newcastle loan striker raising his goals expectations

With seven goals in his last seven games, Adam Armstrong is raising his sights.

The Newcastle loan striker says he was aiming for 10 goals when moving to Blackburn in January but would have settled for seven.

With nine games left and especially with five goals in his last four games at Ewood Park, the 21 year old will be hoping to continue that run on Thursday night.

Blackburn are home to Bradford on Thursday night and a win would take them back to the top of League One.

It is a three club battle for the two automatic promotion spots and Adam Armstrong’s goals have been instrumental in taking Blackburn to the brink of an instant return to the Championship, the current for seeing five wins and a draw in the last six matches.

Picking up the League One Player of the Month award for February, three goals in two March games could help towards putting him in the frame once again this month.

Adam Armstrong is currently vying with Aleksandar Mitrovic as the Newcastle striker with most league goals this season, both have eight at the minute – Mitro seven for Fulham and one for Newcastle whilst, Arma has one for Bolton and seven at Blackburn.

Adam Armstrong:

“We have been scoring in the last few games and I want to keep that form going,

“The atmosphere and everything about Ewood does me good.

“My confidence is high and I go into every game thinking I’ll score.

“I think the first goal at Blackpool pips the strike at Portsmouth, but it doesn’t matter how they go in, a goal is a goal.

“I have seven goals now and I will keep on pushing.

“I said when I came here that I wanted 10 goals.

“Had you asked me if I would take seven then I probably would have, but with nine games to go, I think I can get a few more yet.”
