Newcastle loan star Adam Armstrong talks after scoring 5 in 5 and back to his best

Adam Armstrong is once again enjoying his football.

With five goals in his last five games and four goals and two assists in February alone, he was named Blackburn’s player of the month.

Plus today it was announced that he is one of the nominations to be League One player of the month.

Playing once again in a central role he is looking like the natural striker/goalscorer he has shown in previous seasons. The loan spell at Bolton in the opening half of his season, saw the Geordie striker playing out of position on the left wing.

Still a long way to go before he could be a potential contender for Newcastle in the Premier League but great to see the Geordie striker picking his form back up, now he is being given the chance to use his natural ability.

Blackburn are now five points clear at the top with 10 games remaining, although clubs below do have games in hand.

In the 11 matches that Adam Armstrong has appeared in, Blackburn have won eight, drawn twice and lost just once.

Adam Armstrong talking to the official Blackburn Rovers site:

“It has been brilliant.

“The lads have really stepped up in the last few weeks, everyone chipping in with the goals and enjoying their football.

“There is competition for places, everyone’s thriving off it and putting in good performances at the weekends.

“It was a hard one to take on Sunday after a brilliant first half (and leading 2-0), we gave away two sloppy goals, which we’ve looked at. We have to put that right for the future.

“Wigan have been up there all season and have a good side there. To be angry at just getting a point shows the standards that we’ve set. There are 10 cup finals left now.

“The goal came quickly and let us push on. It was a great pass from Bradley [Dack], I made the run and was confident that I’d score from the edge of the box. It was something I’d done with my left foot plenty of times before.

“There is still more to come.

“You have to keep working hard every day and improving yourself ready for each weekend.

“Hopefully I’m doing that for the fans and everyone watching and I’m really enjoying it.

“I’m up and running and away now.

“I don’t set many targets aside from making sure the team gets three points every game.”
