Huddersfield star ‘We are going to Newcastle to get three points’

Huddersfield have played Newcastle three times in the last 19 months.

Collin Quaner wasn’t with Huddersfield when they won 1-0 in August 2016 but he came off the bench in both the 3-1 win for Newcastle at Huddersfield in the promotion season, as well as the 1-0 victory for the Terriers in their first ever Premier League home game.

Quaner is one of a number of examples of David Wagner using his experience of German football, bringing the winger from the second tier in Germany for only £400,000.

Despite only one point from three games in March, the Huddersfield player claims the ‘feeling in the dressing room is really positive’.

The former Union Berlin player insisting ‘We don’t care what people think because we believe we will stay up. It’s important that we keep believing’.

Defeat at home to Palace was a body blow last time out and now they face Newcastle and then Brighton, two games which on paper look their best chance of getting points in the remaining games.

Collin Quaner declaring ‘It will be a hard game but we are going there for three points’.

As for Newcastle, the confidence of consecutive home wins over Man Utd and Southampton has been a massive confidence after over four months without a Premier League win at St James Park, if that becomes three in a row then Newcastle should be on the brink of safety.

Collin Quaner:

“The feeling in the dressing room is really positive, everyone is thinking about now and not the past.

“You can see the focus and everyone knows what they need to do.

“We have played Newcastle United a few times now and we know it will be a hard game but we are going there to get three points.

“We have a big game ahead of us.

“We will need every single man to reach our goals so one of the most important things is to stay fit.

“We always feel like we are backed by the fans and have their support.

“The positive energy they give us spreads into the dressing room and has helped us.

“We don’t care what people think because we believe we will stay up.

“It’s important that we keep believing.”
