Garth Crooks says he has a major dilemma after Newcastle hammer Southampton

Garth Crooks has picked his Premier League team of the week.

The BBC Sport pundit including one Newcastle star after they took apart Southampton at St James Park.

Reflecting on the 3-0 win for the home side, Garth Crooks says he still isn’t sure about what he watched.

His dilemma being…’I can’t make up my mind if Newcastle were that good or Southampton were that bad.’

Maybe the truth of it is, that it was a bit/lot of both things.

The 3-0 scoreline flattered the visitors and if it had been five or six they couldn’t have complained, such was Newcastle’s superiority.

As for the star player, little surprise that it was Kenedy who Garth Crooks selected for his Premier League team of the week.

Always a threat, the left winger scored a brilliant opening goal and then finished off a flowing team move for the second.

Garth Crooks talking to BBC Sport:

“Kenedy, Newcastle:

“I can’t make up my mind if Newcastle were that good or Southampton were that bad.

“One thing is for sure is that Kenedy made the Saints pay for their lack of team cohesion.

“It’s been a long time since I have seen players so concerned with themselves and couldn’t care about the team.

“Southampton have big problems.

“Did you know?

“Kenedy became the first Newcastle player to score a brace at St James Park in the Premier League since Georginio Wijnaldum in May 2016 (Newcastle 5 Spurs 1).”
