It was business as usual for Rafa Benitez.

As many of you will have noticed, Tyneside was hit by a bit of snow in the last 24 hours.

Despite schools closing and chaos on the roads, it didn’t alter the Newcastle Manager’s routine.

As you can see from the footage below, Rafa Benitez still went out in his shorts(!) to survey the training ground.

As the United boss wandered around in his shorts, you can see the players milling around with their hats, gloves and 20 layers on!

Rafa then moving the training inside and taking the session in his shorts, as everybody else was still well wrapped up.

Rafa Benitez is most definitely a Geordie!

    Rafa is a legend.
To be fair to the players, their muscles are more precious to us and we don’t need any players getting ill.

        Little edit there?

        What do you mean anyway?

Yeah, my previous post was moderated. Nothing contentious in it either. Maybe because I referenced an article from another source.

Not having a pop. Just inferring that everyone seems to be ott over the whole Rafa thing. I like the bloke but, a few things have come to light recently which have made me think again. For instance,

          1. Negative tactics during games. Parking the bus in other words. We aren’t good enough to employ that tactic. Meanwhile other teams pick up points and we tread water. Fed up with him doing that.
          2. His treatment of Mitro and even, Colback. I don’t necessarily rate the latter but, the manner in which he was treat was shabby.
          3. Read an article online regarding his treatment of Steven Warnock, formerly of Liverpool. Harsh I feel.

Basically, not getting at anything other than the fact that Rafa is far from so called messiah status yet.

Fair enough. It’s not my opinion but you’re entitled to yours.
I’ve alwayd rated Benitez so am a big fan.

Fair cop Dillon – agree that football is about opinions. It would be boring if we always thought the same. Either way, we need to escape relegation and pick up points – starting at Liverpool on Saturday. Fingers crossed eh.

Points 2 and 3, I’m not sure but just to pick up on point one…Since Christmas we have gained points on most of our rivals in the bottom 11. We have had frustrating home draws and the Bournemouth result of course, while the likes of Huddersfield pull off the occasional eye-catching result. We were 7 points behind them, now 1. We were in the bottom three, now we’re not. We were neck and neck with West Brom. Now we’re not. It’s definitely been frustrating but we are not treading water in comparison to the teams around us.

During the 19th century, a movement arose among the footballing ‘top brass’ in England to ban shin-kicking from the games. Apparently, it was allowed to hack people back then and people who would pass the ball, thus taking the heat off themselves, were considered woo sies. Anti-hackers won marginally and it was banned. Imagine that old set of rules in Spain or Italy today.
