Nightmare for Henri Saivet and Demba Ba screamer

Henri Saivet is having a bit of a nightmare since trying his luck in Turkey.

Just one of the highest ever total of Newcastle players out on loan, the unwanted midfielder is at Sivasspor for the rest of the season.

Restricted to only 48 minutes in substitute appearances in his first month out on loan, Henri Saivet got his first league start at the weekend.

Ironically, he was up against two former Newcastle players in Demba Ba and Yoan Gouffran, as Sivasspor travelled to Goztepe.

A Demba Ba screamer (watch below) divided the teams as his 30 yard stunning strike into the top corner won the game in the 35th minute.

Sivasspor responded by dragging Henri Saivet off at half-time after a dismal 45 minutes.

On what he has shown so far in Turkey, there looks absolutely no chance of shifting him permanently at the end of the season.

The whoscored automated stats ratings ranked Saivet the weakest play on the whole pitch with a rating of 5.9.

Yoan Gouffran has had a fair to average time with Goztepe since being released by Newcastle in the summer, he was subbed on 76 minutes and so far has started 15 league matches and came off the bench in another five, scoring one goal.

As for Demba Ba, he might turn 33 in May but he still looks a class act after recovering from his horrific injury.

Arriving on a free transfer in January, Ba now has two goals in three league starts and in the footage below, you can see he also scored another very good goal that was wrongly disallowed for offside.

The former Newcastle striker looks to be capable of playing at a higher level than the Turkish league, whether that could have been the Premier League is something we’ll likely never find out.
