Henri Saivet is having a bit of a nightmare since trying his luck in Turkey.

Just one of the highest ever total of Newcastle players out on loan, the unwanted midfielder is at Sivasspor for the rest of the season.

Restricted to only 48 minutes in substitute appearances in his first month out on loan, Henri Saivet got his first league start at the weekend.

Ironically, he was up against two former Newcastle players in Demba Ba and Yoan Gouffran, as Sivasspor travelled to Goztepe.

A Demba Ba screamer (watch below) divided the teams as his 30 yard stunning strike into the top corner won the game in the 35th minute.

Sivasspor responded by dragging Henri Saivet off at half-time after a dismal 45 minutes.

On what he has shown so far in Turkey, there looks absolutely no chance of shifting him permanently at the end of the season.

The whoscored automated stats ratings ranked Saivet the weakest play on the whole pitch with a rating of 5.9.

Yoan Gouffran has had a fair to average time with Goztepe since being released by Newcastle in the summer, he was subbed on 76 minutes and so far has started 15 league matches and came off the bench in another five, scoring one goal.

As for Demba Ba, he might turn 33 in May but he still looks a class act after recovering from his horrific injury.

Arriving on a free transfer in January, Ba now has two goals in three league starts and in the footage below, you can see he also scored another very good goal that was wrongly disallowed for offside.

The former Newcastle striker looks to be capable of playing at a higher level than the Turkish league, whether that could have been the Premier League is something we’ll likely never find out.

    Demba Ba,
wasn`t he the last decent striker at Nufc, it all seems a distant memory & it is.
even after the Great Fat One has departed it`ll take us 3-5 yrs to recover & replace the krap we have on the books.
doing it on the cheap will always backfire in the world of football, but Fatso thought he could run the club like one of his tat shops.

But Demba couldn`t dummy the keeper by standing on one leg, swinging the other at the ball then letting it bounce of his standing leg into the goal OR trick the centre half into smacking the ball aginst his shin for it to ricochet in. We`ll never see the likes of Riviere and joselu again ….. hopefully!

The Hoss is here for another 4 yrs, you couldn`t give him away with a pack of trainer socks & a Shyte Direct mug

        • Wor Lass

He might be good in the Championship.

Hopefully just not with us.I’d honestly thank him for his effort and give him a free in the summer and be done with it. I suspect that wo’n’t be a popular choice at the Park tho’ ? ( Really trying with the punctuation but it’s a bstd !)

One thing you can say for the Hoss – he IS trying!

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

      Loic Remy?

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        He was on Loan

Ba may as well have been.

Is it just me or does the fact that we now have a record amount of players out on loan means they weren’t Rafa’s first choices?

  • Arty Hume

Even now would have him back as an impact sub, he still knows where the goal is, thats something you cannot teach, its an instinct!

  • TheTradge

Never should have sold Ba, was idiotic to have the £7m release clause in his contract, and he’s 1000% better than Joselu and Gayle!

Pardew preferred to play him on the wing. If I was the second top goalscorer in the league I’m sure I’d be unhappy about that as well…
