No surprise that it is Alan Shearer who has scored more Premier League hat-tricks than any other player.

The best striker by far of the PL era, scoring 11 in total, including two when playing for Newcastle United.

Robbie Fowler with nine is then next best.

Which clubs though have had the most individuals that have managed to score at least one Premier League hat-trick.

The question was put to Martin Tyler in his excellent Sky Sports stats column and he revealed that Arsenal have now got an amazing 20 different players to have managed at least one Premier League hat-trick.

Newcastle United actually have only five clubs ahead of them and a bit of a surprise really that Manchester United have had only two more players that have achieved the feat.

Newcastle have had 10 different players who have scored Premier League hat-tricks and they are listed below (can you name them before looking…?).

Premier League clubs with the most players who have scored at least one PL hat-trick:

20 Arsenal

17 Chelsea

14 Liverpool

13 Everton

12 Man Utd

10 Newcastle United

10 Tottenham

In total, 13 NUFC Premier League hat-tricks have been scored, with seven players scoring one each, three scoring two whilst on Newcastle’s books:

18 Oct 2015 Gini Wijnaldum – Newcastle 6 Norwich 2

31 Oct 2011 Demba Ba – Stoke 1 Newcastle 3

23 Sept 2011 Demba Ba – Newcastle 3 Blackburn 1

5 Jan 2011 Leon Best – Newcastle 5 West Ham 0

31 Oct 2010 Kevin Nolan – Newcastle 5 Sunderland 1

22 Aug 2010 Andy Carroll – Newcastle 6 Aston Villa 0

17 Dec 2005 Michael Owen – West Ham 2 Newcastle 4

19 Sept 1999 Alan Shearer – Newcastle 8 Sheff Wed 0

2 Feb 1997 Alan Shearer – Newcastle 4 Leicester 3

21 Oct 1995 Les Ferdinand – Newcastel 6 Wimbledon 1

23 Feb 1994 Andy Cole – Newcastle 4 Coventry 0

21 Nov 1993 Andy Cole – Newcastle 3 Liverpool 0

30 Oct 1993 Peter Beardsley – Newcastle 4 Wimbledon 0

You can’t help be surprised that in the last seven years, only one Newcastle player has scored a hat-trick, and that was a midfielder.

When Mike Ashley has consistently refused to allow the club to compete in the transfer market and the club transfer record is 13 years old (so far…), failure to spend on a decent striker has been shocking, year after year.

Newcastle fans were appalled when an NUFC team that was desperate for goals then spent only £6m on the hopeless Emmanuel Riviere to do the job back in summer 2014.

To then three years later only allow Rafa Benitez to spend £5m on Joselu to lead the line, do the maths!

The only hat-trick our current strikers look capable of is three goals in a season.

Maybe Islam Slimani can prove to be the quality Newcastle fans have been missing and the next Premier League hat-trick hero…

Don’t get too excited Slimani has never scored a goal against a top flight elite defence Jim….

😂😂 And in the words of Carly Simon “Nobody Does It Better “ ……..

  • John

Well, claiming he’s the best ever is a bit tongue in cheek as Shearer has the most goals but That’s because of how long he played in the league. Many strikers have better goals to games ratios. Henry is the best striker to play in the PL.

    • TheNutJob

Shearer 100 goals in 124 appearances, Henry 100 in 160 appearances.

      • Peaky Magpie

That was quick Nut you’re not at Clarko’s house are you ??

          You’ve got him sussed,,,

      • John

Henry 175 goals in 250 apps.. Shearer was what, 260 in about 440.. Henry 0.68 goals per game, Shearer 0.58

    • Paul Patterson

I prefer longevity than flash in the pans or players that clear off after a season or two.
Nobody will beat Shearer’s Premier League record or Newcastle’s for that matter. They simply won’t be around long enough. Rooney has tried but he won’t do it. Kane has a chance, but a Real Madrid will put a stop to that.
As for the Newcastle goal scoring record, pah, they’d be sold after a good season with this owner, never mind ten . .

      • Peaky Magpie

Howay Paul writing The Hoss off a little early there mind…..😂😂

    • Cockneytrev

He also had two career threatening injuries,,
      A remarkable achievement,,

Made more interesting by our current top scorer for the season having just 4 goals.I am going to Ladbrokes (taxes paid) and get a price on Slimani finishing top by the end of the season, got to be worth a punt.

    • Kneebotherm8

      He’ll be odds on mate….

  • Leazes.

Yes we kept the idea of the Centre forward alive when other clubs had moved to the modern era, goals coming from a variety of sources and not just one. it would have been brilliant if we had kept the Ferdinand-Shearer partnership and built on that, but we didn’t.

Ashley has taken us to a new era…. no centre forwards.

Just out of interest why have your comments/up votes totals gone down so dramaticly ?
