Martin Dubravka has completed his move to Newcastle United.

Shortly before the 11pm deadline, the goalkeeper’s agents announced that the deal had been done.

Martin Dubravka flew into Newcastle late Wednesday afternoon and then went through his medical.

The confirmation of Dubravka’s transfer followed close on the heels of Islam Slimani’s move been announced by Sky Sports.

At just about midnight, Newcastle United have now confirmed the loan in an official statement:

Newcastle United Official Statement:

‘Newcastle United are pleased to announce the signing of Slovakian international goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan from Sparta Prague until the end of the season.

The Magpies have the option to turn Dúbravka’s move into a permanent one, with the stopper eligible to make his debut against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 29-year-old started his career with hometown club MŠK Žilina, for whom he played six times in the 2010/11 Champions League.

He then spent two years in Sweden with Esbjerg fB, before moving to Czech side Slovan Liberec ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

After making 28 appearances for the Modrobílí, he joined domestic rivals Sparta last summer.

Dúbravka has been capped nine times by Slovakia, and played against England in September’s 2018 World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

He said: “I feel amazing. This is a big step in my career and also in my life.

“You can feel the energy of the people around the club. I will try to work hard, and show that I deserve to be here.”

Boss Rafa Benítez added: “Dúbravka is a Slovakian international goalkeeper, and he is someone with some experience. He will need to settle down quickly as he is a player coming from abroad, but he is very agile and he can play with his feet.

“He will give us some competition in goal, and that is what we are looking for.”

Another shambles, and what about that flag? :
“Don’t ever give up on your club, keep supporting it, it’s your club and trust me one day you will get your club back and it will be everything you wanted it to be”

How dare they preach to fans such as myself who have spent in excess of 50 (yes, 50)
years supporting this club, having spent thousands of pounds along the way.
I’ve certainly put my time in on the terraces, and the last thing I need is for some f****r to tell me “not to give up on my club”.I have earned the right to back protests, campaign for change, etc,etc after putting up with this absolute shambles of a so called “football club”, and until the 50,000 fans who go to S.J.P wake up and smell the bull****, and stop going to S.J.P to put money into Ashleys pocket, nothing will change, because by going to S.J.P despite of the diabolical running of our club, you are saying to Ashley ” yeah Mike, just keep doing what you are doing, you’re doing a great job” .
Stick your flag where the sun don’t shine.

Goalkeepers and wingers seem to be Benitez obsession.

    • You haven’t watched our keepers to say that! If we’d signed Caballero before City we wouldn’t even be looking at keepers and he was FREE!
Rafa wanted an experienced, ball playing keeper in THE SUMMER, as well as another Left-Sided player(winger/fullback) and a REAL STRIKER, but he was denied funds and opted only for the cheapest striker he could find and we all know who is solely responsible for us not beating Burnley last night.
A decent keeper and striker would have had us probably where Burnley are at the moment, 10-11 points well above the relegation battle, but Ashley refused to spend 20m to bring two decent players in the summer.

Why is this transfer not seen anywhere but in this app?

    Btw.
Esbjerg is not Sweden, it’s Denmark. (A better League than Allsvenskan to be fair)
