Jamie Redknapp was impressed by Newcastle United’s performance against Jose Mourinho’s side yesterday.

Rafa’s team beating Manchester United 1-0, a result that takes Newcastle out of the relegation zone and up to 13th place in the table.

So impressed was Redknapp, that he has named three of that starting eleven in his Premier League team of the week.

He was many fans’ man of the match on his debut and Martin Dubravka is chosen by Jamie Redknapp, after keeping a clean sheet.

In front of him, Jamaal Lascelles organised the defence impressively, also getting a place in the former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder’s team.

Making up the trio, Redknapp goes for match winner Matt Ritchie, the winger getting his first goal of the season in a typically energetic display against Manchester United.

I know you have to think about other teams and the position people play in but I don`t see how Ritchie would be in anyone`s team ahead of Jonjo after that performance. i`m not Knocking Ritchie because he did well but Jonjo was absolutely outstanding.

    • Paul Smith

      Diame was his equal imo.

      • Wor Lass

Diame was great – and he has been for a few weeks, now. He`s found his best position. He reminds me of Tiote with a brain.

None of the lads got in Garth Crooks team of the week, very strange.

  • Rob Brown

I cant believe noone is singing the praises of Dummett.

WAtch the match again and watch out for him. He played so far above himself he should have been man of the match

    • Paul Smith

I rewatched the full match last night and he was good but I don’t think you could really have him above Diame or Shelvey with the ammount of tackles and interceptions they made.

      • Jordan Peterson

Diame has been s different player over the last 3 games

    • Jordan Peterson

He had an excellent game too

Clearly Shelvey for man of the match.
There were a few close calls for runner up but Shelvey stood out like a beacon among beacons.

    • Jordan Peterson

I think the team is solid up to the front two. You can’t penny pinch with forwards. Stick Vardy and mahrez or similar into that team and Benitez would be pushing for Europe.

10 of our boys with Aguero just edging out Perez.
