We asked fans the question, which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle team v Bournemouth?

We put together a list of the 23 players who could potentially be selected on Saturday afternoon on the south coast.

Some very strong and interesting results this time.

Jamaal Lascelles is top of the tree with 100% support (percentages are rounded up or down to the closest whole number).

Then closely behind him are two loan players, Dubravka (98%) putting in that excellent debut, then Kenedy (97%) with yet another very good display.

No surprise that the Manchester United performance has heavily influenced matters.

Nine of the starters in that win have been selected with eight of them getting 88% support or better, with Lejeune (79%) the ninth.

The two who don’t make the fan choice of team are the most forward players, Ayoze Perez (33%) and Dwight Gayle (27%), supporters pointing out where the clear weakness has been all season. Despite being Newcastle’s top scorer with four goals, Joselu has only 2% support…

Even though yet to be seen in a black and white shirt, Islam Slimani (92%) was the overwhelming selection.

We put the poll up ahead of Rafa’s press conference and sadly on Friday he has revealed that the Algerian striker has once again broken down in training with his thigh injury and will be out for at least another couple of weeks, which realistically means the earliest fans are set to potentially see him is the Huddersfield home match on 31 March.

With such big support for most of the players selected, we then see a surprisingly low mark for the 11th selection that sneaks into the team.

Newcastle fans selecting Mikel Merino (35%) just ahead of Perez (33%) and Gayle (27%).

The win over Man Utd was a real team effort and the same again is needed today. The message from fans with their selection is a lot of faith in the defence and midfield but the forward players need to step it up.
