Alan Shearer sounds ‘quite happy’ after Newcastle United 1 Manchester United 0
Alan Shearer enjoyed himself on Sunday afternoon.
Newcastle had dropped into the relegation zone after Huddersfield’s lunchtime 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
Things looked bleak for a Newcastle United team that hadn’t won at home in the Premier League for 113 days but this proved to be United’s (well the first United of this pair anyway…) day.
Some committed defending at times making the difference, a bit of luck thrown in as well, but Newcastle also had their moments as Rafa sent numbers forward when possible.
Indeed Shelvey almost put Newcastle ahead in the opening five minutes, only for a stunning De Gea save.
Alan Shearer shared the emotion felt by every other fan at the final whistle, declaring “Yessssssssssssssssssss…Newcastle United!” via his Twitter account.
He also responded to his son Will saying it was a definite penalty on Gayle in the first half, Alan Shearer agreeing that it should have been a spot-kick.
The ref didn’t give it but TV replays showed it should definitely have been given.
A massive three points and an inspiration for the rest of the season, out of the relegation zone now and that should be the case come May if Newcastle keep playing like this.
Alan Shearer:
“Yessssssssssssssssssss…Newcastle United!

Will Shearer:

“Yes it should have been.
“Poor decision.”
