The new Sky Sports Power Rankings have been published today.

The Power Rankings methodology reflects a player’s performance over the last five Premier League matchdays by awarding points to players for 32 different stats.

A heavier weighting is given to the most recent match in descending order to the fifth last one, with the intention of showing who is most in form.

After this latest round of matches which includes Newcastle’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, the rankings have now been updated.

Newcastle’s last five PL games have been (working backwards):

Bournemouth 2 Newcastle 2

Newcastle 1 Man Utd 0

Crystal Palace 1 Newcastle 1

Newcastle 1 Burnley 1

Man City 3 Newcastle 1

The latest Power Rankings as published by Sky Sports:

sky sports power rankingsAs you can see, Mohamed Diame features at number 19 in these latest Sky Sports Power Rankings, up from 22nd position last week.

Not as impressive as against Man Utd but Diame still put in a solid shift at Bournemouth and has risen in these rankings on the back of a consistent run of form.

Following up the Man Utd match when he set up Matt Ritchie’s winner, Dwight Gayle’s two goals on Saturday have helped catapult him straight into number 27.

A good while since Rafa’s team had three players in these Sky Sports Power Rankings but at number 33 we also have Jamaal Lascelles, very consistent and marshalled his defence well again on Saturday until the final 10 minutes when Bournemouth had a go and took their chances.

A big challenge next Saturday at Anfield and if Newcastle players still feature so prominently, then very likely it will have been a positive outcome.
