Tuesday night exclusive from Sky Sports has revealed there is no deal on the table from Amanda Staveley ‘or even under discussion’ with Mike Ashley.

Sky Sports say that ‘a source close to Mike Ashley’ has told them this.

Which when it is Sky Sports, then we can safely assume that this comes direct from Mike Ashley with them being as thick as thieves.

The Sky Sports story says that the source/Mike Ashley says that they are releasing this information because ‘It is only right to let the fans know…’.

Yes, we all know that the cares and concerns of the Newcastle fans are always close to Ashley’s heart, not.

The PR machine rumbles on, saying that Mike Ashley’s valiant attempts to reach a deal with the Amanda Staveley group had been ‘exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time.

Which coincidentally is how the vast majority of Newcastle fans would describe these 11 seasons under Ashley’s ownership.

Earlier today there was a piece put out by Press Association Sport, who had clearly been briefed by somebody.

Things now falling into place as their source was revealing that Mike Ashley had now agreed to back Rafa Benitez in making three January signings

So it doesn’t take a genius to work out that this was Ashley’s PR people as well, trying to put out a positive message that the owner was (allegedly) prepared to back transfers, before then putting out this barbed attack on Amanda Staveley and her backers. However, that ‘positive’ transfer story was only positive in a very limited way, as when you got past the headline it went on to say that Rafa would be able to bring in three signings but only with a very ‘limited’ budget.

So in other words, the manager has to bring in quality signings on a pittance. Never going to happen.

Of course we all believe what we want to, just as when after Ashley’s announcement the club was up for sale in October, his legal representative in his second appearance on Sky Sports came out and claimed that several other serious bidders had come forward, only to be never mentioned again…

Sky Sports:

‘No deal is in place between Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s PCP group for the sale of the club, Sky Sports News understands.

A source close to Ashley said:

“It is only right to let the fans know that there is no deal on the table or even under discussion with Amanda Staveley and PCP.”

The source added that attempts to reach a deal had proved to be “exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time”.

Sky Sports News have contacted PCP and are awaiting comment.’

Leazes must be preparing for a one hour news flash special at 9pm 😂

      • HappyToons

He is presently in a tank on the A1 heading to Paradise, (next to Hampstead Heath). He says he worked for the BBC. Now he intends to be the headline news as he blows up that Curry House, hopefully with Laurel and Hardy (MA and Desmond) catching the missiles

        • Peaky Magpie

    • Mitros gotta start

You have to admire his effort if nothing else

    • Peaky Magpie

Never mind Leazes has your Nut done a moonlight ?

  • Whickhamrobbie

Thats it now boys we are f$%^ed .

  • HappyToons

Rafa should walk if he doesn’t get at least 30 million now to spend this week (that is only enough to buy 2 dead average players). Not one fan would blame him if he walks. Interesting how the takeover finally proves to be what we all expected…nonsense. What timing half way through January. At least Ashley can’t make up any excuses not to buy players NOW this month as he knows it is his responsibility and on his own head. If he doesn’t back Rafa now the club is in meltdown and we are mugs to keep backing Sports Direct FC. I guess the rumoured other interested party is just to keep us off Ashley’s back and a load of …

    • Tomb

Hes on 5 million a year why would he walk?

      • Jimmy_toons

Probably because he’ll be able to pick that up at a football that has ambition.

        • Tomb

Maybe but no guarantees hes one of the highest paid managers in the league. Expect him to stay till the end of the season

  • Thefootballerwhocouldfly

I’m not convinced Ashley ever wanted to sell. It was all smoke & mirrors. His intention was to create publicly for his ego & product (SD). As well as play with the hopes & aspirations of Rafa & fans. Some may argue Ashley is a sociopath?! #AshleyOut

    • Andy Mac

I wouldnt argue with that !

  • Paul Patterson

That’ll be the beginning of the end for Rafa and our Premier League survival then . .

  • Andy Mac

How exhausting can a curry with rice and poppadums washed down with a pint of lager be ? 🤔

    • Peaky Magpie

      Very if you’re not paying.

    • Mitros gotta start

I dunno….i am always exhausted when i spew up

  • Mitros gotta start

Good thing we still have the other party still interested in buying us then

    • Andy Mac

At least three or four others allegedly sought NDA’s or did they 🤔

  • hetonmag

    Sad sad day for NUFC.

    • Mitros gotta start

Hopefully some good comes of this and Rafa the liar walks so we can get someone in that will be able to work with the shyte we have on the books and get us playing some positive football

      • Paul Patterson

Probably the most contradictory statement I’ve ever read . .

  • John

The fans are floored with this news what way are the players gone be?

    • Mitros gotta start

As long as the cheques keep clearing they couldnt give a fook…..same as on the pitch

      • Peaky Magpie

😂 You’re on top form tonight Mitros 😂

  • GToon

Could somebody let the source close to Ashley know that we have found his ownership to be “exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time” too.

  • NUFC 11

Ashley said during the may interview that he has made a lot of mistakes while in charge of nufc. I don’t think he has the comprehension of the fallout of this, not for a second. Fans should take the power and skip the next game.

    • Mitros gotta start

      Will never happen

    • Peaky Magpie

We are all pawns in his sick & twisted game of F**k The Geordies.

    • Jimmy_toons

He’s done nothing but make mistakes. Looks like we’re stuck with him the fcb.

  • Cheesed Off

Well fat Mike has toyed with us for years with his lies. I thought the fake sale was a set up for him not to invest again! What an absolute parasite of a human being.
I can’t believe we fall for it over and over again.
We have potential if he goes but sadly he’ll take us down sell us for a massive loss and vomit in fires for the rest of his days.
Hope he chokes on his own vomit and the paramedic is a Geordie!

  • Leicester Mag

Trucked off with lot of them. Lies and counter lies that serve to only heighten the feeling of helplessness and dissolution of fans. Where does this end? Most probably with Rafa leaving and relegation. Hardly if ever felt so sick and fed up. The reputation of the club yet again in a shambles and a national joke.

  • Peaky Magpie

And the award of The Philip Green Trophy (thanks Rich Lawson) for his services to t**tdom & being a downright ace c**t once again goes to Michael Wallace Ashley 👏

  • Peaky Magpie

I knew the daft cow should have got him a pudding….now look what’s happened !

  • TheFatController

It’s like we’re in Silence if the Lambs with Ashley as Hannibal Lecter asking us ‘what was it that you feared?’

We all fear winning nothing in our lifetimes – so he plays on those fears for his own amusement.

He’s absolutely mental as batsh*t. Seriously, let him into your life and he’ll enjoy toying with your mind.

  • Mirandinha9

Whilst Cashley may think the discussions with PCP were a ‘complete waste of time’, such a statement is reflective of what his tenure over the last 10 years have been. Keegan, said this club will go nowhere under his stewardship and it honestly won’t, other than repeated relegations, possibly again this year. The nightmare continues, although, I suspect the 50,000 complicit ‘cohort’ will again enter SJP for the next home match, again putting money into his pocket.

  • Albert Stubbins

its all been a load of bo*****s from the outset. Two wronguns trying to out do one another- only ever going to be one winner and 52,000 losers in this charade!!

  • Dave Pattinson

Complete waste of time!!!!?? This from the man who, I believe failed to turn up to a meeting with potential wealthy arab buyers a few years ago, choosing to go instead to a casino with his mates. I believe the potential buyers then went on to purchase Citeh. We know the rest. Does he really want to sell, or does he just hate us all.?

    • Down Under Mag

Ive said for a while I dont actually think he wants to sell and its all a smokescreen to avoid signings and to sneak by until the tv money comes in.

  • KRS1

Our only hope is a lightning strike on the fat bast##rds helicopter

  • Big Al 1967

Well don’t say I didn’t tell you. The only surprise is that the announcement has come before the window shuts and the season ticker renewal date has not passed.

  • skarabrae

There HAS to be a boycott of games… keep turning up & nothing will EVER change.. a boycott may not change a thing…. but it’s the ONLY thing we, as fans can do!!
& by boycott I mean “en masse” & not just a “token” 1 game, don’t go back… seriously.. what’s the point!

Same smoke n mirrors EVERY transfer window… n still 52000 fall for it !! This is not our club any more… it’s not nufc any more..

    • nufcslf

Hasn’t been for 10 plus years. Yet sheep will be sheep sadly enough.

    • Monkseaton Magpies

We are in a relation battle we need the fans behind the team it’s fans like on this site which have been the problem not just now but for forty years calling for boycotts.

  • ghostrider

Looks like we dodged a big bullet there.
It’s a good job we have an owner like Ashley who sticks to his guns.
He won’t allow the club to be sold on the cheap to cheap buyers who will potentially kill it, it appears.

Of course the Ashley haters will blame him for it all but there you go.
The man may be stingy and shrewd in not providing us with big money signings and new owners with pots of cash to spend as and when needed without the death of the club would be fantastic.

However, I’d sooner keep Ashley than lose the club to what appears to be a team of chancers like this crew seem to be.

    • TheFatController

I love someone that can form a definite conclusion from no data whatsoever.

“they are chancers and ashley’s a decent honest businessman trying to sell to someone equally decent”

You bend everything to suit your theory, so your theory is immediately invalid. You couldn’t possibly know who’s at fault yet here you are knowing who’s at fault.

      • ghostrider

        I don’t think I said Ashley’s a decent honest businessman, did I?
I don’t know the entire truth and I’m speculating just like we all are.
I’m taking Ashley’s side because I think PCP were and are a bunch of chancers who tried to beg the club for cheap by relying on the fans’ hate of Ashley to force him to make a snap decision.

Ashley has proven that he’s no walk over and is made of tougher stuff.
Ashley needs a bit of a telling for some things but a massive pat on the back for making sure no mug tries to ruin this club.

        • Phil Yare

ashley is proved that he knows nowt about football and hes a creep

          • ghostrider

I’ve heard this lined trotted out millions of times.
            What does it even mean?
Go and have a look at the owners of many football clubs who came in with cash on the hip and tell me how many of them knew much about football as you put it.

He’s been at this club for 11 years and apparently he loves his football and did before he took us over, so tell me about this know nothing about football thing?

If anything he’s proved he can run a business and also take hits on his business and bounce back.
            That’s what football is.
It was sold to the devil a long time ago as the working persons sport.

If you mean he won’t sanction massive transfer deals with extortionate wages to match, then that’s not really knowing about football, is it?
It’s knowing how not to be mugged off.

          • TheFatController

Yeah, because there are a lot of clubs paying big fees and big wages who are…..making huge money in the top half of the PL.

Yeah, thanks mike for not following everyone who’s doing well with high paid high transfer fee players.

We dodged the bullet on ending up like clubs that were below us until 2005 and now sit in the top 10.

Are we on the 20th version of his 5 year plan, a plan that means ‘we can’t compete and have no money’ in the football boom period?

          • ghostrider

Get used to the postcode of the club and that will help in understanding why this club cannot go silly in the transfer market.

We would need to literally have a blank cheque brigade owing us in order for us to get up to the heights.#
Ashley can’t do it until those big players get bored and walk away from the clubs that are made to look bigger than they actually really are.

The trouble is, money is moving about those clubs like confetti but really only as digits on a screen.

As for the 5 year plan. That was to get the club working in house. Owing nobody outside of it.

From there we could move on.
the issue was the massive influx of sugar daddy club owners that seem to have bottomless pits of cash and can even bypass a nonsensical fair play carry on with incoming and outgoing.

Ashley’s came in as the wide boy. Thought he could get ahead of the market and walked right into a gang doing the same thing.

Biggest mistake Ashley ever made was believing the fans wanted the messiah back and then making promises to the messiah about money and such and not realising that he had a dummy spitting walker on his hands if he didn’t give the messiah what the messiah wanted and what was promised.

He basically lost the fans from that point on and endured the bile of a fair proportion of them in enough volatile strength as to just about collapse.

However, he somehow managed to grow a thicker skin. A learning curve like no other in England.
He’s under no illusions about what the fans think but he’s also past the point of a pet lip and is focused on his business interests….one of which is Newcastle United.

Why aren’t the fans revolting against Swansea?

            Shall I go on?

Too many people lived on the past with Keegan and Hall feel good factor.
It put us on the map after the exploits of the 50’s.
Many fans believe we deserve it all again and the Swansea and Stokes do not.

It would be great to have another go but Newcastle United in house money management will only take us so far but it could have us playing at the top if the league was played in a fair manner, which is certainly is not.

          • Phil Yare

it means after 11 years of lessons

            1. he knows nothing about football
            2. he is a creep

          • ghostrider

1.He knows plenty about how football works.

            2. He’s no mug.

          • Phil Yare

            love the ‘apparently’ comment!

          • Phil Yare

do you even recall the deplorable activity behind the seasons particularly during the keegan and hughton reign???

do you recall all his stupid mistakes that led to us being relegated twice???

          • ghostrider

Tell me about his stupid mistakes?

          • Phil Yare

the incompetence goes way back before this season.

        • TheFatController

Confirmation bias. You’re ignoring the massive evidence of him using the club,

If you don’t see that he is using the club, you’re codependent justifying his abuse because you can’t stand up to abusers.

Go get your photo taken with one of the many free SD hoardings on the tv side of the ground and come back and tell us he’s not using us ? Then we’ll know you’re not quite all there …

          • ghostrider

Course he’s using the club. I expect him to use the club to aid his other stuff.
The negative press gains him much more advertisement for his business and doesn’t really affect Newcastle United as a club.
It affects the fans though, because fans feed on positive and negative aspects that are mainly created by the media.

Ashley is well aware of the fickleness of fans.
He’s well aware of the hate for him by a fair proportion of fans.
He’s also well aware that gung-ho flutters in the transfer market to appease those fans will only create a temporary lull in the voiced hatred for him….especially if things don’t work as expected.

Take a good look at most owners of clubs and see their advertisements.
They don’t stand out as much because those people are not hated enough for adverts to be an issue.
I’ll tell you another thing….and deny it if you want to.

If Ashley was ploughing 100 million a season into this club on transfers, I’d guarantee nobody would be giving a flying falook about advertising….there you go.

          • TheFatController

But Ashley isn’t ploughing £100m into the club.

He ploughs money in when we’re relegated to protect his investment and get his ad hoardings back in worldwide tv asap.

Unlike you, he’s reconciled to that fact he’s hated but it’s a trade off for his increased wealth through SD.

If you’re not actually Bishop orBarnes coming on here under cover, you’re desperately naive in having not reconciled the fact that he’s hated? He has, you haven’t. Spectacular blind loyalty like a wife with an abusive husband – ‘he’s alright some of the time ‘

          • ghostrider

I’m loyal to Newcastle United, with or without Ashley and co.
I’m not going to spend all my energy hating a man that doesn’t deserve it.
Ashley deserves the periodic grunts and groans just like players and managers do…and that’s really it.

All the rest of it is old fashioned lit torches and bandwagon jumping.
Built up frenzies that are more embarrassing than helpful to the club.

I’d happily lose Ashley for a stint at the top with exciting players producing the goods.
If an owner can provide that without wrecking the club then come right in and pay Ashley what he’s asking and get on with it.

            Fans make me laugh.
You see, at this moment the club apparently isn’t worth the extra 50 million Ashley was supposedly asking for. Fans saying ” ohhhh we aren’t worth more than 250 million…who does Ashley think he is.”

That’s like saying that your own club that is Newcastle United that stands loud and proud in the city and is known as one of the best grounds in Europe, is worthless and yet a Neymar is worth over half of the entire club.

    • wheyayeman

      You’re a mackem.

      • ghostrider

Ah, there goes a man who won’t change his theory no matter what the evidence.

You must be loved by the people around you in the real world…

          • ghostrider

            That’s no argument.

What a load of laughable shyte. Between Cashley and Donald Trump the world is on safe hands then. Glad I’m not religious, becuase you three would have me no longer believe in any faith.

      • ghostrider

        What is faith?
Faith is a best guess isn’t it?
“Go and win that race my son, I have faith in you.”

        “I came 4th”

“Never mind son, I have faith that you’ll win it next time.”

I suppose it’s ok as a gee up.

  • wheyayeman

Rafael – You’re a champions league winner mate. As much as I love you being here, the record aint going to change while Ash is in charge. It’s time to walk

    • ghostrider

I hope he does walk….he’s worse than useless.

      • TheFatController

Come back to us when you don’t make the sweeping generalisations or a bitter angry sad Ashley apologist …

        • ghostrider

Nahhh. Just as people like you love to hate him, I’ll bring up the good in him.
It’s the hateful ones that’s actually to blame for Ashley putting the brakes on many signings.
If I owned the club and was treated like people like you treat others then you’d get the same from me.

          • TheFatController

You’re seriously having a go at me for how I treat Ashley? Desperate tactic.

This is the man whose company has lost court case to Keegan and Gutierrez, labelled a liar in court.

And you’re defending him and attacking me?

Who are these hateful ones that are stopping a billionaire football club owner from spending money to protect his investment? He’s not very thick skinned is he?

You make arguments that make me laugh. It’s a terrible day for the club so thanks for the light relief …

          • ghostrider

            I don’t care what he’s lost.
The whole truth of losing that court case is not evident.
If it was then Keegan would be walking about with a lot more money as compensation instead of his wages.
Keegan who loves the club but was willing to take it to the cleaners.

It all depends how people read into anything.
I choose to look past the messiah tags and try to see it from both sides or all sides and make my choices on my own speculations without the entire mapped out story.

When people take on an idol it takes a crow bar of mammoth proportions to jemmy them away from seeing no wrong in that idol.
The very same goes for their hate in a person.

            That’s what we’re dealing with.

          • TheFatController

I have absolutely no idea what you refer to, or what logic you are reasoning against. I doubt you do either.

          • nufcslf

So you would be a sh*t, thick owner as well.

          • ghostrider

Thick skinned yeah, just like him.

    • Tomb

Why give up a 5million contract?

  • Phil Yare

if we really want him out then somebody has to come up with a well organised plan. and that has to do with cutting off his supply of funding (as its proven nowt is ever reinvested in the team)
i despise people shopping at sportsdirect. the logo offends me. if we are going to continue with a full house at home games at least 52,000 sheets of paper with the words f**k off would be appropriate in the same tacky colours and font

    • ghostrider

Would you stop shopping at ASDA if he owned it?
The world is bigger than Newcastle United and the fans.
Do you seriously think not going into sports direct will do anything?
Ask yourself why people do go in.

People spend too much time wasting it on nonsense.

      • TheFatController

You spend too much time winding people up through exploiting their emotions.

        You’re a gaslighter. See a shrink .

        Just not this one…

        • ghostrider

If people get wound up then they wind themselves up.
Because I don’t follow the norm does not make anything other than having an entitlement to my say on matters whether agreed with or not.
If anyone’s gaslighting it’s those that try to force a hatred on a man who owns a football club by mass peer pressure.

          • TheFatController

Come on, you have no idea what gaslighting is do you?

Because it’s certainly not used correctly by you there ….

But I love that you’ve bluffed you know what it is .

          • ghostrider

I know exactly what it is, so read again and look it up.

          • Cockneytrev

😂😂😂 you got the Saddo bang to rights,,,, he had no idea what you meant,,,

      • Phil Yare

yes, i would stop shopping at asda if he owned it
for me the world is not bigger than newcastle united and its fans
yes, not going into sports direct will move mountains towards hoisting his fat a*s out of his perch
        people go in usually as….
        1. they have no taste
        2. they buy man u, arsenal, and chelsea shirts for their kids because supporting the football team is unbearable
        3. hes closed at the club shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        cheers all the best

  • TheFatController

“It’s only right we let selling clubs, agents, potential new players, Rafa, current players, fans and opposition players and managers know we’re in turmoil so exploit this weakness to your advantage ….”

Brilliant tactic. Let the world in on our crisis …

    • ghostrider

      There is no crisis.

      • TheFatController

Well, clearly you know the mood of the fans and Rafa better than me, so I look forward to a day of calm for the club tomorrow….

Shall we reconvene tomorrow evening and compare notes?

The crisis is made by those who see a crisis.
That means half of the premier league teams and clubs are in crisis….right?

          If not then why not?

          • TheFatController

A crisis is made by having a lack of unity at a club. Not sure where your nonsensical ‘see a crisis’ mantra’ comes from

Well I do, in reality. It comes from a gaslighter …

          • ghostrider

There’s no crisis but the one that fans are making for themselves by going into a frenzy over a collapsed takeover by some chancer who they will accept instead of Ashley no matter what.

          • TheFatController

That’s an argument from ignorance. You can’t put the burden of proof that PCP are chancers, and worse than Ashley, on us.

Let PCP prove they’re useles before you judge them. You have no evidence they are chancers, you just wish they were sonsay it without needing facts or demonstration.

Which makes you not the best at evaluating any situation.

Haggling over 50 million and begging installments?
I’d say we dodged a massive artillery shell, never mind a bullet.

          • MP01

Haggling over 50 mil…. imagine that happening in a business transaction…..!

          • ghostrider

If you are taking over a massive football club like Newcastle United in the north east of England with the mindset of getting them to fight at the top end then you do not haggle over 50 million….simple as that.

You also don’t mess about with installments.
The only reason anyone would do this is if they’re full of hot air and moth laden wallets/purses.

          • MP01

Did Ashley not suggest that someone could pay in instalments? I am almost certain he did.

But this is a business transaction not just a hobby. Therefore each party will obviously try to get the best deal for themselves. the same way as Mike Ashley is holding out for as much as he can get. it’s simply business. Therefore, haggling over 50mil doesn’t seem so… stupid! Why should PCP just be expected to front an extra 50mill on what they value the club at? So negotiations no longer exist?

          • ghostrider

PCP obviously aren’t expected to pay 50 million more than they offered.
Ashley has set the price and they are trying to get it on the cheap. Ashley calls no joy and they leave the offer on the table knowing Ashley will not budge.

Ashley should be thanked for sticking to his guns.

          • MP01

that’s business. simple basic contract law. offer and acceptance. Mike is under no obligation to accept any offer, as PCP arent expect to match what he wants. but to say that PCP shouldnt be haggling is too simplistic in a deal of this kind!

Im not siding with PCP here, i think both parties have similar blame in all this with various smoke screens and backhanded leaks nor do i know the level of financial clout PCP would have. but then no-one does! who knows what backers Staverley had in line for this deal!

There is no crisis, only an excuse to keep pocketing the clubs money

        • ghostrider

Pocketing the clubs money as in, how?

        • Leazes

He hasn’t ‘pocketed’ anything from United directly, not even the non payment of advertising fees in order to avoid tax.

He has pocketed the money which was in the account of the Strawberry place holding Company (Gallowgate development land) which had £2.5 million tucked away and was sold to himself without the bank balance at a reduced price…..

….easy money didn’t come any easier!

  • Vladimir Biggski

Why is it a limited budget?

The toon made a profit last season and have an extra £100m income this season. Regardless of a sake of the club or not, there should be plenty of money there for Rafa.

Unless of course, the money the football club generates is not for the benefit of the football club, which is clearly the situation.

This whole takeover is a deliberate distraction and excuse for not spending. A tactic he has used before. At the end of the window, it will be all Amanda statelets fault Mike couldnt invest the massive money the club generates into the football club.

  • huntforbeer

So he’s prepared to risk relegation with £100M loss on the value of the club, lose Rafa with no likelihood of us bouncing straight back into the PL for a third time?-madness

    • Leazes

Yes…. he’s done it a few times now.

      • MP01

Mike Ashley is a bit of a “relegation specialist” isn’t he!!
