Paul Merson has been talking about the Newcastle v Swansea match on Saturday.

He claims Swansea were great in their last away match, even though they trailed until the 86th minute and then scored two late goals to win the match.

This brought to an end a losing run of seven straight away games.

Paul Merson also states that the Welsh club were ‘unfortunate’ when losing their last home game 2-0 to Tottenham.

Unfortunate or not, Swansea have now lost 14 of their 22 Premier League matches, two more than the next highest total.

Merson predicts ‘big trouble’ for Newcastle if they fail to beat bottom club Swansea but he does see them winning the game by the narrowest of margins.

The Sky Sports pundit forecasting a 1-0 home win in a ‘cagey victory’ for Newcastle.

Whilst Swansea have experienced a bit of a ‘bounce’ since Carvalhal took over, I have to agree with Paul Merson for once, and say that this is indeed, a must win match for Newcastle.

A game at home against bottom of the table opposition can surely be nothing but that, especially when we then have the other extreme up next, Man City away…

Paul Merson talking to Sky Sports:

“Again, this is another game that’s hard to call.

“Swansea were great at Watford and unfortunate at home to Spurs in the last fortnight.

Newcastle have to take advantage of home games though.

“If they don’t win this they will be in big trouble, so this is a game they (Newcastle) will have highlighted as a must-win.

“I think they will just get the job done with a cagey victory.

“Prediction is Newcastle 1 Swansea 0.”

It amazes me that pundits get paid for such rubbish.

    Comfortable home win

I’m reminded of the line in ghostbusters at the start where the University kicks them out of their research into the paranormal :-

‘You wouldn’t like the private sector, they expect results…’

So that’s grant-funded paranormal research and football punditry where it’s clearly ok to never getting anything right.

Bournemouth, Watford, Leicester, and Everton – all at home, and all considered winnable at the time. Points = ZERO.

Need to be completely focused and positive against Swansea for 94 minutes.

    • Peaky Magpie

      94 minutes Alex,spot on 👍

  • Wor Lass

A click-bait headline worthy of the Great Ryder himself, Jackie. I doesn`t seem to have worked too well, though.

  • Scottie Chugger Dearden

It beggars belief that we still care what this moron thinks! I’m more interested in the predictions from NUFCs tea lady!

At the end of the day and being brutally honest,if we can’t comprehensively beat Swansea with a good attacking display (not a lucky 1-0) then we deserve to be relegated. This really is a 6 pointer and there can be no excuses for drawing or losing. If the players can’t get up for this one, then we really are doomed.Go at them from the off and have it put to bed by half time.Prediction Toon 3-1 Swansea.⚽️
