Sky Sports have now reported a new Newcastle bid for Nicolai Jorgensen.

They say their information is that a new improved £15m bid has been made for the 27 year old Danish international.

However, they also say that the alleged new offer was instantly turned down by Feyenoord.

Sky Sports say that they understand the Dutch club want a minimum of £20m before they will consider selling.

Late last night, Voetbal International reported (see below) that an increased offer above the original £12m had been made, so if there is substance in the Sky Sports latest, it is likely that they are both talking about the same improved offer.

With many of their promotion rivals having already spent serious money this month, the clock is ticking for Newcastle United, with the deadline next Wednesday night.

The Mag – Earlier today (Friday 25 January 2018):

Newcastle United’s pursuit of Nicolai Jorgensen continues.

On Thursday it was revealed by Dutch media just how far apart the valuations of Feyenoord and Newcastle were (see below), with Telesport and De Telegraaf both reporting that  Newcastle had offered just over £12m for a striker who the Dutch club value at £10m more.

Feyenoord are said to be in a healthy position financially and have no desperate need to sell the 27 year old Danish international.

Over in Holland, Voetbal International have now revealed that an improved Newcastle has been made, but just like the first one it has been instantly rejected as nowhere near good enough.

Voetbal International don’t give details of exactly how much extra Newcastle were offering – but clearly nowhere close to the much hyped leak to the English media, when it was claimed Mike Ashley was backing Rafa Benitez with funds to buy a ‘£20m striker’.

Feyenoord may be saying they want £22m but surely anything getting close to the £20m figure will be successful, for a player they paid less than £3m for, only 18 months ago.

Interestingly, Voetbal International have asked Dutch football fans whether it would be a good idea for Feyenoord to cash in on the striker this month and so far 1,761 have voted, with 1,049 saying yes and 712 no, a 60% result in favour of selling.

As to whether Mike Ashley should make good on his leaked promise to back Rafa Benitez with a ‘£20m striker’ to help see off relegation, the yes vote would be somewhat higher than any 60%.

The Mag – Thursday 25 January 2018:

Nicolai Jorgensen is the striker Rafa Benitez wants to spearhead his relegation battle.

However, what chance has the Newcastle manager got of landing his top target in the January window?

Before it was revealed who Rafa wanted, Mike Ashley’s PR people briefed the media that Newcastle were preparing to spend £20m on a mystery new forward, with Ashley allegedly prepared to ‘back’ his manager.

In the event, an offer has been made by NUFC for Nicolai Jorgensen but it was way off that hyped up £20m mark, with various reports in the UK putting it at somewhere between £12m and £14m.

However, the media in Holland have now revealed just how far apart the two clubs actually are in their valuations of the Danish striker.

Both De Telegraaf and Telesport report that Newcastle United’s actual offer for the 27 year old was €14.5m (approx £12.5m) but Feyenoord want €25m (approx £22m).

Figures which put Newcastle around £10m short of the Dutch club’s valuation.

Having paid FC Copenhagen €3.5m (£3m) only 18 months ago, Feyenoord are looking for a profit of over €20m (approx £17m/£18m).

Whilst the two clubs are miles apart on a transfer fee, if agreement could be found then wages should be no issue, as the Dutch media say that a move to Newcastle would see the striker’s wages at least double in size.

The ball very much appears to be in Newcastle’s court because Feyenoord are also reported to be very stable financially and not desperate to sell, despite only being in fifth place in the league and looking to have no chance of Champions League football/cash next season.

I think we’re chasing the wrong Dane striker from the Dutch league. Kasper Dolberg at Ajax looks a far more gifted footballer, and scored only one goal less than Jørgensen last season, plus he’s only 20.

    • HarryHype59

      “Chasing the wrong Dane”

      Highly probable.

      • Dillon Tovak

Which one will save our bacon?

        • Peaky Magpie

        • robbersdog

Which one is the Great Dane?

          • Dillon Tovak

You may be the dogs bolloxx in Holland, but how about the prem?

    • Damon Horner

Do you think Dolberg is attainable? I reckon he’ll be sold for a lot more and probably to a top club in backup/development to their current crop.

      • Megatron1505

I totally agree, but if nobody else is trying it could be worth a shot.

  • Mike

how has he jumped from 2.5m to 20m in 18months?

    • HarryHype59

Mitrovic cost Anderlecht £4m Newcastle paid £14m for him!

Lejeurne was a £1m signing for Eibor in 2016. One year later NUFC pay £9m for him.

There is an obvious pattern here.

      • TheFatController

Spurs have a similar file marked ‘Sissoko’….

        • csh

I also recall Rangers signing Boumsong on a free, 6 months later we paid 9m+ for him.

      • MadMag83

        Lejeune isn’t even worth £1m.

    • Dillon Tovak

    • Paul Patterson

That’s the market Mr Ashley. You might just have to come to terms with it and pay it.

  • TheFatController

They keep talking about making changes to the transfer window – we’ll, here’s my suggestions :-

    – put Penfold in a holding pen
    – make him wear an orange boiler suit
    – waterboard him each morning til he spills the truth of the day before’s progress

    I’ll email the FA now.

    • Peaky Magpie

And could we possibly televise that event please ??? 🤣

    • Mxpx

      Why leave out Mr Ashley?

      • TheFatController

When your daily routine includes throwing up in fireplaces etc, standard torture tactics don’t work, I’m afraid.

    • hetonmag

Could I suggest Guantanamo Bay for him and the Fat Lad.

      • MadMag83

I’d rather we let the pair of them sign up for IS. Might need two ‘vests’ to blow Fashley up for his suicide mission.

  • Dillon Tovak

If this is the guy we want and the club think will score the goals that will keep us up, Fat Mike is going to regret haggling over £5m and then being relegated.
It also makes no sense to not value him any higher than Mitrovic if he is not worth a game for us.

    • Jezza

Fatso has got no intention of signing this player or anybody else before the deadline. I can guarantee those bids were really half the figures reported. If NUFC had offered £15 million, the lad would already be on his way to Tyneside.

  • HarryHype59

If he is signed the total package including wages would be around £35m. With relegation highly possible, surely a loan deal for a player with EPL experience makes more sense.

    • Dillon Tovak

Or both and then don’t get relegated.

      • Jezza

Or in the real world neither and Fatso relegates us for the third time.

    • NUFCDan

Loan deal for who exactly? Not many around and we’d still be paying a big loan fee no doubt. This guy is about the level of player we can expect. Plenty of team in the Championship spend big on strikers.

    • Paul Patterson

      What’s Shola doing these days?

  • Rich Lawson

Get rid of the dodgy ginger beard son, that’ll put a couple of extra mil’ on your fee.

    • Peaky Magpie

Aye,yer might play in the Dutch league but yer nee Van Gogh !

      • Kneebotherm8

        • Peaky Magpie

          That’s funny 😁

  • Clarko

    Just bid the £20m.

    • Wor Lass

  • robbersdog

I checked out Jorgensen on YouTube. On the plus side, he’s definitely got a knack for being in the right place at the right time; on the minus side, the standard of defending in the Eredivisie is very poor, so the Prem might be a bit of a culture shock for him.

  • Peaky Magpie

If anyone from Feyenoord is reading this just take Penfold to one of those little ‘coffee shops’ and get him off his heed then he’ll agree to anything 🤣🤣🤣

  • Jezza

    Breaking news:

Newcastle United PR machine make all out effort to stretch hoax striker bid out right till transfer deadline.

    • Dillon Tovak

That was breaking news in October mate.

      • csh

        October 2008 aye…

    • MadMag83

And then absolutely nothing is heard from them on deadline day.

      • Jezza

Ha ha yes, as is customary, the caretaker at the NUFC training ground will be getting the day off on deadline day.

  • Viru leckworth

Why can we never simply get off the pot.

  • kingfisher

If Feyenoord price Jorgenson at £20 Mill, and we price Mitro at £15 mill, then give them Mitro plus 5 mill, job done, kills two birds with one stone !
