Mike Ashley has presided over yet another shambles of a transfer window.

The Newcastle United owner ‘messing Rafa Benitez about’ to say the least.

As Newcastle grabbed a poor point from the home game with Burnley, the final throes of the January transfer window were in progress.

Just over an hour after the final whistle, the window slammed shut, with the Mike Ashley out campaign releasing this excellent statement.

Statement released by AshleyOut.com:

‘Yet another transfer window has been and gone with Mike Ashley failing to allow meaningful investment in Newcastle United’s playing squad.

There could be little debate that the squad was in desperate need of significant reinforcement during January. Not doing so represents yet another gross dereliction of duty from the ownership, and is further demonstration of why Mike Ashley is not fit to be custodian of Newcastle United.

To date the 2017/18 season could only be viewed as a success away from the pitch – the club retained the services of Rafa Benitez, a return to the Premier League meant a vast increase in TV revenues, and fans have backed the team with near capacity crowds for each home match.

However, it is apparent that this passion for the team is not shared in the boardroom.

Mike Ashley is once again gambling with the very future of Newcastle United by failing to use this momentum as a launchpad upon which the club can build. As a result, relegation from the Premier League for the third time during his tenure is now a very real possibility.

After last Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea, Rafa Benitez said: “The Newcastle fans are very clever, they know what is going on”.

AshleyOut noted the club resorting to the same tired PR tactics as in previous years, giving the illusion of activity when no permanent transfers appeared to be genuinely in the offing. Similarly, we fully expect to hear the same clichés from the club about our inability to get signings ‘over the line’, despite the fact they had a full month to finalise deals the manager laid out when the transfer window opened.

As always, we will support Rafa Benitez and the playing squad as they attempt to secure Premier League survival, however we also remain committed to seeing Mike Ashley removed as Newcastle United owner.

AshleyOut will continue to campaign until he sells the club, and urge him to do so as soon as possible.’

  • Desree

I can see this statement forcing Ashley to sell. The only thing that forced ashley to act were empty seats at the spurs game.

    • William

Desree… agree with you…we must empty the stadium…thats the only way mike ashley will undestand..the guy loves money…dont give him his money…he will go

      • mactoon

I don’t understand, how will that statement force Ashley to sell? you do realise there is no buyer meeting his asking price and this statement will not produce one?

No buyer, no sale. And he won’t accept anything south of £300 million

  • anyobrien

Cue the bell ends that defend fat man.

  • Cockneytrev

Are the BBC in his pocket as well,, match of the day, nothing mentioned about the banner,, the rest of the country has no idea about the strength of felling..
If this was Liverpool, Manure, Arsenal etc it would have been all over the TV….

    • thewildchimp

Let’s face it: who cares outside of Newcastle? They actually mentioned “Arsenal fans having a lot of patience” without any reason but nothing about ours.
Until we do something that makes a good headline – we are alone on this one.

    • Peter

I think that slowly but surely, the London-based media are twigging on to what is happening…or some of them at least. It’s only taken them 10 years…..

    • Peaky Magpie

There’d be a one hour Panorama investigation if it was one of them…

  • FatParosite

I’m sorry but the banner “Don’t ever give up on your club. Keep supporting it, it’s your club and trust me, one day you will get your club back and it will be everything you wanted it to be. Newcastle United is bigger than anyone. It hurts I know, but just keep going. He is only one man we are a city, a whole population. Trust me.” plays into Ashley’s hands…..

    • Jordan Peterson

      A pass back?

  • Ram Kishore

I still don’t understand why it took 30 odd days to sign Slimani from Leicester on loan ..why didn’t they bring him earlier in the window.
I’m wondering what were the reasons..
Either the players or our club’s inside craziness?

This goalkeeper on loan could have been finalized very earlier… He’s not as demanded as Sturridge..

It’s time the club started giving reasons.

At the same time it is crazy to know that Davy klassen’s move to Napoli on loan failed because of a clause in his contract that he had with his sporting agency

    • thewildchimp

I don’t understand why signing him at all. He is, basically, more experienced Mitro and has about the equal number of goals in the Prem so far. They should’ve went for a clinical finisher or someone with pace to add something we haven’t got already. Really makes me wonder what happened when your manager goes for your ‘double’, instead of playing you.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

His re Ord if far better than Mitro. Also he’s not a red card waiting to happen. I like Mitro but Rafa does not but id have him over Mitro.

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It takes until the end of the window for the player to accept we were his best option.

If you were a player, your agent tells you a load of clubs are interested, do you choose the club threatened with relegation? The reality is, you wait for better offers and when the other options disappear, you make the decision.

By Monday, He had a choice of us, Watford, west brom, Stoke and one other. We were still expecting Sturridge but lost him, still hoping for Nicolai Jorgensen so we weren’t committing.

It’s not as simple as you may hope.

      • mactoon

Also the fact we didn’t try to get any players in until the last two weeks of the window so were left floundering when they realised they couldn’t haggle… again

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

That may not have helped but I think we had other targets at of the month, Sturridge was higher up on hte list and the same applies, he was waiting on better offers.

    • Guest 2

Ram – if you were an actual supporter of this club then you would know the answers to your own questions.
The club never give answers to anything, or perhaps you haven’t noticed that either?

      • Ram Kishore

Why aren’t we demanding it through our fan forum…. I thought the discussion is part of those forum meetings with the club

        • Guest 2

Why? Because there hasn’t been a fans forum held by the club this season. They’ve done away with that charade altogether.

          • Ram Kishore

Is there any one who goes to the fan forum’s meetings here??
Didn’t the head of the grouping approach the management??

          • Guest 2

Ram – if you say you support the club then you should really learn the truth of what is going on.
The forum members were chosen by the club – any dissenting voices (NUST) were barred.

          • Ram Kishore

So the forum is just an eyewash ?
Can NUST make a move to the premier league about this issue?
They can make the club to create a independent fans body like NUST?

  • TheFatController

I see Ashley humiliated his apologists by announcing a record £20m signing was coming (via sources) then he just laughed as they believed him.

He wasn’t lying to us, his detractors, we knew it was a lie, smokescreen, distraction, whatever you want to call his bizarre mental illness need to lie and get away with it.

Yet the apologists will come up with some denial about this obvious abuser tactic he uses. ‘He’s ever so good with the kids’, ‘when not drunk he’s lovely’, ‘although he hits me I do make mistakes and deserve it’ ‘this bruise? I banged my head on the door (for the fifth time this month)’

It’s always sad to see people’s weaknesses being exploited by an abuser….

  • Monkseaton Magpies

Did Ashley miss the penalty, did Ashley miss the rebound after we hit the post.
This site should realise that last night we were a far better team than Burnley another team which should have been out of site before they scored a fluke own goal. Our team has enough to get out of the relegation battle but the anti Ashley campaign will not help Rafa or the team only our relegation rivals. You have failed before with pathetic protests and will fail again. Back the team we stay up and then you will get your takeover. Protest get relegated and it might be a few more yours with your good mate.

    • JonMag

[email protected]@k off you inbred idiot

    • Jordan Peterson

No, but Ashley did provide us with Stoke cities reserve striker from the bargain basement summer sales when what we actually needed was a proper centre forward. We would be nowhere near relegation if the club was allowed to invest its own money instead of continually handing it over to Mike. If Joselu could finish he’d be on about 15 goals by now. I don’t blame Joselu, a club like Newcastle should have 2 international quality strikers.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

What money has been handed over to Mike? Serious question?

      • Jezza

Don’t feed the troll, lads. He is not a Newcastle supporter and he is
not from Monkseaton. He is loving rubbing salt into our wounds this morning with all his different ID’s. Don’t give him the
        satisfaction.

        • MadMag83

Yep. All three turn up on the same page. Ghostrider, Monkseaton and Fleckman. All fighting Ashley’s battle for him, coincidence? I think not!

          • Jezza

Those three ID’s as well as Clarko and probably others too are all the work of two brothers from Manchester who have been trolling this site for years under multiple ID’s. They are not Newcastle supporters, at least one of them works in S****s D****t shop and they are season ticket holders at Old Trafford.

          • MadMag83

The clarko persona only comes out when the happy pills have run out and he’s feeling angry.

        • Paul Patterson

Let’s just ignore him/them in future.

          • Jezza

You can just block the two of them. That’s the best way. They feed off the reactions they stir up. If everybody was to block the two of them then we are taking away the buzz they get from trolling this site.

      • Kneebotherm8

Exactly…..fail to prepare and you prepare to fail……..if he’d invested in a decent striker pre season what position would this football club be in now?

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Exactly, we were the better side, had Gayle been on, it would have been 3-1 or 3-0 if the lino could see that Dalow didn’t touch the ball.

    • Berkshire Mag

The better team WITHOUT the quality striker necessary to win games. Did Ashley not invest in this type of player? I think we all know the answer to that…

  • JonMag

waste of time, only an empty stadium every week will work & that`s not going to happen, is it.

  • William

If we want a bright future for Newcastle..Time to act… Its been too many years now…Empty the stadium….support the team outside the stadium…give Ashley a clear message…We dont want you… you are killing slowly our club…Go away Ashley

    • ghostrider

In an ideal world a tornado will scoop us all up and we will land in a colourful place somewhere like OZ where everything is bright and beautiful as long as you aren’t wearing ruby red shoes.

In the real world Ashley is doing a sterling job in keeping this club alive and ticking.
It may not be producing what we all hope for but it is still a football club that is trying to ensure it treads water for the future with the odd jump through the hoops in between, as and when the time is right and everything falls into place.

That’s hard to do in this silly climate of clubs going mental by paying sickening fees for players and to players in order to get nowhere fast in most cases.

Be careful what you wish for…but then again I’m sure some will cut off their nose, ears, lips and gouge out their own eyes to spite their own faces.

      • Danimal

        Wow.

      • Mike

aye thats why the “big” clubs invest in the best players oh and they win things with them! unlike us at the loan bargain bin end.

        • ghostrider

Yeah, the top 4 generally win things.
What about the other big so called investors?

We used to spend big and got into champions league places.
A few years of that and a sniff at a few FA cup finals, then discontent came. It just wasn’t enough.
          We want more.
But the money wasn’t there for more of that.

Find the money. We want more.
Suddenly the owners are doing a carpet bump job out of the door.
          We want more.
There is no more, we tried to give you more but we can’t borrow from the banks or Peter or Paul.

          We want more.
          Enter billionaire Ashley.
Hip hip hooray, we’re saved and are now in the big time.

Return of the messiah. Hoorayyyyyyyyyyyyy Ashley has brought us Keegan back even though we didn’t ask for him…..but….hoorayyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Ashley out Ashley out…we want more…we want more.

          And so on.

    • Geordiegiants

Banging your head m8, they will still flock in to the stadium no matter what. The die hard’s will do a temporary boycott/ protest or walk out etc and get at the owner, but the “it’s the only time I see my friends/kids” or the “football tourist” (yes we still do get them) brigade won’t do anything but sit on their hands like they have for the last ten/eleven years.

    • mactoon

no buyer, no sale regardless of how many are in the ground

  • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

The MAOC are pathetic. If you want him out, you need to raise money to buy him out. Set up a trust, ask the 150,000 or so keen nufc fans to contribute £2,000 and the fans buy the club.Stop whining like a bunch of socialists and do something more valid than paint your mam’s bedsheets.

    • Danimal

So in your non-socialist world it costs £2,000 to voice an opinion?

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

If you are telling someone how to fun their business and want things done your way, yes, I’m afraid it does.

Nufc fans are like socialists in this way, many seem to want lots of money spent but as long as it’s someone else’s money.

I say, kids, were going to Tynemouth for our jollies this year, the Costa plenty will wait because the club needs us and you will thank me for this one day.

      • mactoon

It would just take 100,000 fans to contribute £500 to Amanda Staveley’s bid to meet Ashley’s asking price. That would be the best way to voice an opinion and get shares in the club at the same time. If the MAOC or NUST organised a funding campaign to achieve this it would make more of a difference than a few flags and statements which only serve to raise awareness but do nothing to push Ashley into selling. No buyer, he isn’t going anywhere!

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I see what you mean, I don’t think PCP’s guys would want the dilution.

However, I completely agree, sitting on the sidelines and making statements will not achieve anything, more likely just put off potential investors

    • Desree

I we had raised 100 grand and put it into ripple we would have had 300m in about 90 days. But no one wanted to get involved.

      • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It’s not a guaranteed winner of an investment but, if we are going to tell the owner what to do with his kid’s inheritance, we should be prepared to gamble a bit of our own.

  • ghostrider

Any idea what owner you’ll accept without turning it all into bile and pure hatred?
    Anyone?
    Sheikh?
    Oil trillionaire?
Local businessman with lots of love but minimal cash on the hip but ever willing to beg steal and borrow to give the fans what they want?
Maybe a PCP type set up that buys the club and pays for it in installments?

Any idea what you really really want?

Here’s the way I see it.
I see clubs that are buying players because they are panicking.
Some are buying players to keep fans happy.
Fan happiness is only measured in very short order. It can change at the drop of a hat, yet clubs always try to appease them.

Chelsea have just paid 18 million for Giroud and placed him on an 18 month contract.
Does that make sense to anyone?

Yeah I know, Chelsea can do that because they’re rich and money’s no object. Or is it?
Of course nobody expects us to be a Chelsea.
All fans want is an owner who can do a ….sayyyyy….hmmmmm……ermmmmmm…..

Actually why don’t some of you Ashley haters tell me who you want and what you expect of them.
Try not to say something like….”we want an owner who cares.”
Because Steve Gibson is an owner who cares passionately about Middlesbrough and yet they are where?

So tell me what you expect from an owner and what type of owner would suit you enough to ensure the bile doesn’t rear its ugly head in some form in the near future.

    • Berkshire Mag

I think the answer to your question is pretty straightforward; how about an owner that INVESTS in his asset to keep it growing? In short, spending money to build a team capable of competing and staying in the Premier League, where taht investment grows and is funded by the vast amount of TV money he is receiving..

      • Cockneytrev

        Exactly!!!!

      • ghostrider

        He does invest.
Just because he refuses to panic buy does not mean he’s not willing to put money in. He just won’t follow a trend that will leave the club in a state and yet some fans think this club is in a state.
Some fans listen to rich pundits tell all and sundry that Ashley needs to put his hand in his pocket.
No he doesn’t. He’s under no obligation to do so with his personal fortune.
He’s laid it out bare. There’s money in the bank…use it but don’t come crying if you spend it all and need more.
        Pretty simple advice for housekeeping.

I know I know, we could do with this and that for X amount because we need them.
It’s getting them for the right price not getting them because fans feel we must pay whatever price is being asked.

That’s for mugs like West Ham owners to do.

        • Berkshire Mag

Where is this “investment”? I don’t believe anyone is advocating panic buys, just players that can play in the Premier League and want to play for NUFC. What money has he actually allowed to be used? It’s all in the bank/his pocket..

          • ghostrider

I bet there is money in the bank but like I said before, Rafa has been told he needs to sell before he can buy. Not because primarily of wages but of bodies in the squad needing trimming to accommodate.

A set amount of money plus incoming fees and a wage structure and Rafa will be buying.
Just not in January, because January throws up stupidity like clubs paying 60 million for 29 year old hair trigger players with little to no sell on value when their contract is up, to the silliness of paying 18 million for a striker and giving that striker an 18 month contract.

I could go on but that’s how mad the game’s got.
There’s no investment in truth….not when this carry on is happening.
It’ll come crashing down sooner rather than later because it’s escalated far too fast to this point.

I don’t want this club to be part of that because once we do we really do lose the club and then fans can paint as many banners as they want about why the club was destroyed, etc.

          • Jezza

Don’t feed the troll, lads. He is not a Newcastle supporter and he is loving rubbing salt into our wounds this morning. Don’t give him the satisfaction.

Either that or he dreams of becoming an asset stripping accountant for the Ashley regime.

He loves the club and the people and the city.
He most likely hates those that have made his Newcastle experience a pain and I don’t blame him for that.
He’s no angel but he’s no monster either.

          • Big Al 1967

How do you know he loves the club the people and the city?

          • ghostrider

Because he’s trying to run it to keep it alive for the very same people of the city and Newcastle fans country and world wide.
unless he lives more lives than one he’s just spent 11 of his being owner of this club and took 99% of his ownership walking the plank that is constantly greased for him with a noose round his neck and fans sat below just hoping he slips whilst goading him to do so.

he played ball with season tickets but none of that counts if he’s not buying big named players.

I know I kn ow….” we don’t want big named players…just players that try.”
He got you them before in Cabaye and what not but they used the club as a stepping stone and when they left it turned out that Carr had bought lots of tat.

The list of excuses are as endless as the names used to call, Ashley.

          • Big Al 1967

            ‘He got YOU’
Now that’s an interesting quote. Surely a Newcastle supporter backing Ashley would use the term US. However an outsider with no allegiance to the club would use YOU. Not that we didn’t already know but you slipped up there Ashley Minion!

Throughing photos of real Newcastle legend in the skip,,
Having to go in front of a commons select committee because of his working practices,,,,
        The list goes on,,,

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Come off it! If Keegan grappled with an opponent we’d all go mad in support.
I Can’t believe you’ve never had a little sickness in a pub / nigh club, I certainly have.
          TV lying?
If you really think every reproduced photo is kept after every re-fit, you are deluded and I really don’t think Mike Ashley was doing the clear-out.

It’s this snowflake approach from some fans that gets me. If you are upset that Mike Ashley hasn’t re-mortgated his children’s inheritance for NUFC, say it but don’t get upset about ridiculous things / stuff that’s clearly made up.

    • Lord

We don’t demand an owner that wins, we want one that tries.

      • ghostrider

I’ve heard all that bumph ever since Ashley became public enemy number 1.
A certain potion of fans demand more than what this club can realistically give without falling on its own sword.
11 years Ashley has been at this club. 11 years out of his life.
Don’t think for one minute he wants to own a club that’s second class.
The thing is he’s not stupid enough to believe this north east club can compete with the every paying out money bag clubs that just tinker on a whim.

Let’s put this into real context.
Bring in a genuine fair play rule that does not allow loopholes for the Arab/oil rich clubs to exploit and you’ll see a different Newcastle United set up.

Throwing good money away on mercenaries will kill this club.
Ashley is doing a fantastic job but it will never be appreciated because many fans have had their heads saturated with mega money razzmatazz in the game that creates gods out of footballers….some of who actually believe they are real gods, they’re that dense.

Mercenaries ruling the game and Chelsea and Man Utd are starting to see that right now.
When you buy in players like Sanchez and pay him half a million a week, don’t expect the other high earners to just sit back and smile about it.

Aubameyang to Arsenal. A massive mistake money wise I think.
Careful planning by careful people, including a manager that can manage and coach and nurture and man manage.
        that’s all we need.

I’m not going into all the rubbish that Ashley has done wrong and given us good reason to hate him (I haven’t got the time) but I’ll put it in simple terms-If Rafa had been backed in the summer (like he repeatedly asked) with an extra £20m for a striker, we would be in the top 8.
If said striker had came in by the 15th or 20th Jan (Like Rafa repeatedly asked- Again) we would have won last night for starters.
New owners? Any that aren’t happy just to gamble on staying up will do.

      • ghostrider

What striker on the 15th to 20th Jan?
        Jorgensen?
If you know what’s went on behind the scenes then let me know the score and I can have a think on it.

      There is the rub.

Until fans actually try to put their own money in, there will be a vocal majority who will never be happy. I suspect if a fans’ investment took over, there will still be those who didn’t bother but still sitting on the sidelines moaning that those who did invest are not investing enough.

  • Hughie_Gallacher

Another year of Ashley and he will have lasted longer than the Third Reich.
    Surely not!

  • Paul Busby

People on here claiming we need to, “empty the stadium.”

Hasn’t made much difference down the road now has it…

    • Damon Horner

I thought the same thing about the flags, as fair as the words are… they’re hardly going to make Ashley ring up Staveley for another curry and half the asking price.

      • 8prestondave

Youre right but what it will do is highlight a lot more to the footballing world who maybe don’t know what hes like. Then maybe a simple gesture like them boycotting shoite direct will hit him where it does hurt.

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Can we wait until after the weekend for boycotting Sports Direct. I need to pop in to buy new running shoes.

          • 8prestondave

Not sure whether to laugh or not.!!

Just remember what the Sunderland fans were like when good old Ellis took over. Bragging like hell they were.
Even Newcastle fans were jealous of their owner compared to our.
    Why?
Because Ellis was providing them with players after players on very good wages.
Big names on big wages who were surplus to requirements at their clubs and would have generally bypassed Sunderland if it wasn’t for the big wages on offer.

    Anyone remember any of this?

Remember what it took to get little Michael Owen to this club?
    The Sunderland fans loved Ellis.
    Boasting about their proper owner.

The silly part is Ellis isn’t a bad man who deliberately sent Sunderland into meltdown.
He was naive in thinking he could bankroll them into the big time and couldn’t grasp why it kept falling apart, in between him changing managers and throwing money at them.

They are in a mess. A real mess.
We are as stable as all hell but mediocre in the premier league along with 10 other clubs….some of who are paying out sickening transfer fees and massive wages on players that offer the very same mediocrity that this team offers.

And Mike Ashley isn’t a proper owner who is killing this club?
Some need to actually think on this instead of following the hatred that always threatens to turn into mass panic bandwagon following by bullying tactics from those that try and dictate their match day experience….good bad or indifferent like most of the history of the club has produced.

    • Albert Stubbins

Newsflash- Ashley is a lot of things but Naïve isn’t one of them!!

      • ghostrider

Oh he has been naive. He was naive when he first came in terms of knowing the footballing set up.
He (as we all know) employed his own footballing crew to see to the footballing stuff and the housekeeping side to his trusted financial experts.

He naively picked the wrong ones on various occasions but at least had enough about him to change things.
Contingency plans to right wrongs or attempt to.

Under normal circumstances running in house, this club will always be an also-ran among the elites.
Just like all the rest of the club chasing a dream that generally fades into the night to become an early morning yawn and an attempt to try and remember what the entire dream was and another day of wondering what the next dream might be.

        • Albert Stubbins

Ha ha. So if we work on the assumption that a multi billionaire is naive in business then you of course are correct. However if we consider that he tells the odd porkie. Nb he has been sued successfully for just the very thing. Ashley loves people like you. Apologists for a failed regime although as we also all know he has a net spend of 4 .5 million over ten years si how much has he trousered for himself. Another smokescreen created this transfer window to prevent any real cash getting spent. Where are the other two recorded bidders from last month? Mysteriously vanished as well apparently. Which one of yiu and Clarko has his thumb on the leaking hole of all your arguments on behalf of Ashley? Are you Keith bishop? You’re not doing very well are you Clarko/Keith.

          • ghostrider

You are entitled to speculate as are any of us.

    • Malcolm Fisher

Maybe you’re right, but it still shouldn’t stop him buying at least 2 decent players Rafa asked for. A billionaire, who owns,or has,as has been reported
,interest in two hundred businesses, is not nieve. He is astite, pity that didn’t reflect in the clubs business to “buy new stock when necessary” to improve production.

  • Peaky Magpie

Unless I’ve missed something could someone remind me what happened to these other ‘interested parties’ that entered the NDA’s ???

    • Cockneytrev

They were in the same place as our supposed record breaking transfer,,
      Pure fantasy !!!!!

    • MadMag83

They were invented to try and put pressure on PCP to agree a quick sale.
