  • Peaky Magpie

Here we go lads the Mitro move has collapsed….

    • scotty63

i hope Slimani has signed already

      • Peaky Magpie

        Aye,nowts ever simple.

        • Damon Horner

          Disagree. Charnley.

          Has it really collapsed?

          • Peaky Magpie

            Appears so

          • Peaky Magpie

Won’t affect Slimani apparently….Anderlecht failed to sell to fund Mitro…still trying to offload him…

          • Damon Horner

He left for Belgium to have his medical. Can’t see him leaving, pleased it’s not affected Slimani’s move there. Awkward conversation for somebody there!

          • Damon Horner

Looks like Dendoncker to West Ham is the deal they wanted through.

  • Dillon Tovak

A bench that could make an impact?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

just as well because, Perez SloMo & Hoss won`t

      • Virsino

SloMo has done ok so far.

        • Soldier

18 months 5 decent games, brilliant

          • Virsino

maybe you’d be happier if he was $hit tonight too?

          • Damon Horner

He should name the 5 games!

    • Tony Mann

More than the front line fookers on the team sheet.

  • Tomb

Burnley have a weak team out tonight. Their four best players Defour Tarkowski Wood and Heaton all missing. On paper its a weaker line up than ours

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

that`s a bonus then, as it takes some doing being weaker than us at the moment

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Diame must be Rafa’s illegitimate son

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      😀😀😀

      • Anita kick up the Hoop

Diame is actually playing well … where has this midfielder been fir two seasons?

  • Mrkgw

Mitros move has reportedly broken down. Hopefully Rafa will use him along with Slimani.

    • Mrkgw

See that it is already posted below……!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

online reports he could be heading to another club

      • Mrkgw

Hopefully not to a rival club Moose.

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

          France i think

          • Angelswithdirtyfaces

            Bordeaux maybe

  • GToon

Ashley will be furious if charnley doesn’t make a saving on Mitro.

    • JonMag

a few pies less for him

  • JonMag

    Slims passed the medical.

  • Wor Lass

Penalty to the lads – and Leazes isn`t even here!

  • Megatron1505

First penalty in foooooook knows how long and we foooooooooking miss it 🙈

  • thewildchimp

Now, who was the lad who said we’ll get a pen this match and Joselu will miss it? He deserves a pint. :D

  • GToon

Congratulations Joselu. What a penalty. What a total waste of space he is.

    • 1957

It was a pathetic attempt from an excuse for a footballer

    • Peaky Magpie

An absolute bloody embarrassment to the profession of football. If we go on to lose this he should never be allowed to play for us again..he’s fu***ng worse than useless.

  • JonMag

get that [email protected]@king Donkey off the pitch, worst striker i`ve seen for many years totally useless

  • Desree

That is a very strong bench.

    • JonMag

hit the Hoss over the head with it then

      • Peaky Magpie

        The daft c**t probably won’t even notice…

    • Mxpx

You should see the bench in my garden it’s solid brick and seats 8 people no matter how heavy

      • Peaky Magpie

Yes but could it hold Fatso ??

  • DC1964

Don’t look a gift Hoss in the mouth!!!!

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

you mean don’t punch a gift hoss in the mouth?

      • Peaky Magpie

        😂🤣😂

  • Virsino

Kenedy, bringing the Brazilian out in SloMo

    • thewildchimp

Was just thinking how he channeled his inner Ronaldinho. The connection snapped halfway, though.

  • GToon

This is a typical game for us. A few chances, a penalty miss, a weakened opposition and we will go on to lose 1-0.

  • Bowlsey

No excuse for failing to convert a penalty if you call yourself a striker. On top of that penalties are like rocking horse sh*t for us so to fluff your lines like that in such an important game is inexcusable.

    • TheNutJob

      Hoss schitt ok

  • GToon

Mitro would have scored. So would Gayle.

    • thewildchimp

Probably 80% of lads on this forum would. At least would’ve made a better attempt.

      • 1957

There’s a few kids in junior school teams could have shown more power and placement…

  • Peaky Magpie

    🎵🎵 They Shoot Hoss’s Don’t They 🎵🎵🎵…..

  • TheNutJob

they let the worst player on the pitch take a penalty, bought time Rafa got a grip & realised how useless Joselu is

    • superalansuddick

      He trains well tho.

      • 1957

And he’s a Benitez buy. The worse Rafa’s picks play the more starts they get

  • Bowlsey

Joselu can only redeem himself now by scoring a goal…so no chance of him redeeming himself.

  • Bowlsey

Kenedy looked happy coming off at half time…”Yes, Kenedy, this really is as good as it gets! Welcome to the Toon!”

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Joselu and Perez are worse than useless… no one can tell me that Mitrovic doesn’t offer a better target, better link up and better goal threat than Joselu

    • 1957

I would agree but Benitez would rather continue to play without a striker than give Mitrovic a try

    • JonMag

course they do, Rafa needs to get his act together or we`re down

    • GToon

Joselu is absolute pants. Unfortunately these are the games we must win as the clock ticks towards May and our place in the bottom three beckons. I just don’t understand why Mitro doesn’t get a game. Surely Rafa can put his differences with Mitro to one side and give him a chance. To persist with that clown up front is basically handing the opposition a lifeline and a boost in confidence. I wonder how long it will be before they score. I reckon 73 minutes and Ashley Barnes to score it.

    • Phil Yare

we all know (despite not being world class) that gayle and mitro would have brought better results than playing these 2 absolutely useless clowns

  • JonMag

Rafa`s got to knock it on the head picking krap when there`s better options on the bench

  • Peaky Magpie

The Hoss is actually achieving the impossible by making Rivière look half decent.

    • JonMag

      💩💩💩

    • HarryHype59

      Cart Hoss.

  • MadMag83

25 games to get a penalty and they let Joselu take it.

    • Bowlsey

I know! Should’ve given it to Atsu instead…or Perez…or Kenedy…or the ball boy…or the tea lady

      • MadMag83

It’s a pity Ritchie wasn’t around to take it

  • ToonTom

Just seen the penalty on Sky Sports app. It was a classic goalkeeper’s penalty – just the right height, cunningly close to the keeper so that arms or legs could stop it, and perfectly weighted – that is, chronically underhit.
First penalty all season. Possibly our last? Had to be scored, no debate.

  • Natturner26

Kenedy looks like he could single-handedly save us from relegation and could be one of the best January transfers. Slimani and Mitrovic would be an exciting premier league striker duo, but Rafa won’t let us see it happen. Instead we’ll be sure to see much more of Rafa’s pet donkey Joselu. When he stepped up to take the pen I was 100% sure he wouldn’t score and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. If we do go down the reason is at January’s end our top scorer has 4 goals. And that is Rafa’s fault not Mike’s because Rafa’s two strikers weren’t up for the job but he was too stubborn to adapt.

    • 1957

Slimani has just been bought as the Hoss’s back up, Benitez won’t stop playing his fellow countyman

    • Bowlsey

I was excited when I heard that we’d finally been awarded a penalty then I heard that Joselu was taking it and I immediately tensed up. Gayle would have buried it.

  • Mxpx

Who decided to let joselu take a penalty

    • Peaky Magpie

      Rafa his fatha !

      • HarryHype59

I have wondered if Kart Hoss is from the same village back in Spain.

  • Leicester Mag

How the hell this clown gets a game outside the Sunday League is beyond me. That Rafa continues to play him is an indictment of both the club and him as a manager.

    • Phil Yare

could you possibly be referring to joselu? i’m banned from slagging him off

  • Megatron1505

Reports coming through that Slimani has failed his medical.

    • Phil Yare

its ok, we still have a goalkeeper coming and he can play centre forward

    • Bowlsey

      Oh for f…

      • GToon

        Exactly

  • Damon Horner

    Slimani failed a medical?

    • Phil Yare

      exciting times

    • JonMag

i read a report he passed the medical

      • Damon Horner

I hope he has. Phase 1 at the ground seemed ok, phase 2 at the hospital rumoured to have hit issues.

      • Damon Horner

Looks like you’re right. Confirmed as passed on Sky Sports.

Seem to take a while and read that he hadn’t and put 2 and 2 together and got it wrong!

    • Peaky Magpie

      Looks like it…

  • MadMag83

Slimani talks have broken down over the medical. Reports suggesting Charnley is in talks to sign a mystery £20m Columbian striker Julio Geordio

    • Leicester Mag

I’d heard we’d put in a late bid for Vintage Thai international Nie Phuka

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

did we get a keeper in??? If not with woodman going to aberdeen that would leave us with just the 1 who is fit to play…

  • JonMag

Ashley out, sack the board, get Ron Manger in

  • hetonmag

Ok guys I’ve been one of the most staunchest of Rafas fans on this forum but I give in now after that horror show by the one and only Joselu, I fully deserve any pelters that come my way.

    • GToon

Tbh if Rafa had taken it he would have scored. If Rafa had been backed he wouldn’t be buying rubbish like Joselu.
And if Slimani has failed his medical does that mean we move in to a striker beginning with letter T?

    • Phil Yare

what you on about!? hes world class!

      • thewildchimp

World crass, you meant to say?

      • 1957

Who trains really well and works hard for the team

      • hetonmag

        Apologies.🤐

  • Leicester Mag

Stupid trucking cat just missed another chance !!

  • Peaky Magpie

Leicester saying deal is still on…..we need Sid James to make his statement…

    • Leicester Mag

I’m off down the road to find out

      • Phil Yare

tell them we’ll swap mahrez for diame

        • Peaky Magpie

          And Hoss for Vardy 😂🤣

        • Leicester Mag

I’d swap Hoss for a cheese pasty

  • Phil Yare

step forward our nominated free kick taker….

    • Phil Yare

      hmmm

  • Leicester Mag

Bournmouth beating Chelsea whoopy ffin do

  • Phil Yare

can’t wait for this goalkeeper to come….he will transform the team

    • thewildchimp

When your midfielders lose all confidence in your strikers so much that they won’t pass to them – you know it’s a great time to bring in a keeper to freshen the things up.

  • Leicester Mag

Ryder that sheet hound of news reporting Slimani Done – probably feels he has been seeing his strike partner

  • Wor Lass

The great man himself (no, not Clarko) Lee Rydeer says the Slimani deal is done!

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

but will the faxes (to the foxes) go through in time?

      • Peaky Magpie

Thought you said taxes there…Penfold just sh*t himself….

      • Phil Yare

        fax machine is broken

    • Peaky Magpie

How do we know that Clarko & Ryder aren’t the same person .

      • Wor Lass

Two sides of the same coin – one`s never wrong and the other one`s always wrong. At least they wouldn`t spoil two firesides!

  • DC1964

    Our final ball is terrible!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      what final ball ?

      • Leicester Mag

        what most teams call passing

        • Phil Yare

          ahh, you mean the punt

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

          not us

    • Phil Yare

we never get to that point

      • DC1964

When we eventually do we pass it to the opposition!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

i`m watching the game & Joselu is shocking, best player is some reserve kid from Chelsea

    • Phil Yare

by some distance, which says a lot

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

it just shows the amount of garbage we have

    • Wor Lass

Waugh has just said we need an impact sub to come on. I assume he`s seen Manquillo warming up!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

it`s torture to watch & i`m not joking

      • Tony Mann

No – The need he’s referring to is the Royal Navy’s nuclear variety.

    • 1957

An injured Slimani couldn’t be worse than the Hoss

  • GToon

Bournemouth winning at Chelsea. Nice. So that’s just about every team in the bottom half winning games apart from us.

    • Wor Lass

W Brom and Southampton are losing.

    • 1957

2-0 Bournemouth, presumably they’ve done a bit more than parking the bus

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

The boss will leave it to late again for the subs

    • Peaky Magpie

87th minute then chuck them all on

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        that`s about it

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

right on cue on comes Murphy

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        aye

      • Phil Yare

theres another thing…..after a dreadful start he starts playing well. so what does the gaffa do??

  • Phil Yare

perez belongs in ‘non-contact’ under 11s football

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

he must of heard me Murphys on

  • Virsino

    Captain Fantastic!!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    Goal lascelles

    • Wor Lass

Hopefully that`ll gee him up. Sounds like he hasn`t been at his best so far.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        great goal

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

    captain!!!!

  • DC1964

    Get in!!!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    Brilliant header

  • 1957

    What a corner!

  • Natturner26

    We should sign Kenedy.

  • Damon Horner

Lascelles going for top scorer! Howay the lads!

  • hetonmag

    Thanks Cap.

  • Phil Yare

    lascelles should play centre forward

  • Peaky Magpie

£50m now…still time to mount Fatsos chopper..

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁

      • Peaky Magpie

  • GToon

Anybody got a picture of the banner ?

    • Peaky Magpie

The banner is superb,it’s on Ronnie…

      • Wor Lass

That`s “Worbanners”. Great name – I`m waiting for my 15%.

      • GToon

Lot of words in it. Wouldn’t “blank off Ashley” have been cheaper. How long before Sports direct are selling the T-shirt’s.

  • Phil Yare

    that counter attack was pathetic

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Matt on Kenedy off, great debut

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Hoss just missed from 8 yards

    • HarryHype59

Ffs…his confidence is shot. His village elder needs to take him off.

      • 1957

I’m at the stage of just copying and pasting comments about him

        • Peaky Magpie

There’s only so many ways you can say fu**ing useless c**t 😁

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

he should never be on the pitch

    • Tony Mann

Mate, I can miss from ten yards for a lot less money than him!

  • 1957

Another pathetic effort from Hoss, didn’t even make the keeper save it

    • Mxpx

I’d rather we just played a false 9 instead

      • 1957

        We are aren’t we…

        • Tony Mann

Never got the chance to respond during game time – but you knew it was coming.

      • Tony Mann

        I’ve got a false one.
        Any good?

    • Leicester Mag

If he shot himself he’d likely miss

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        😂😂😂
footballer attempts to shoot himself, 4 other players are in intensive care

      • Peaky Magpie

        If he sh*t himself he’d miss 😂🤣

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    1-1
    sitting back again

    • Leicester Mag

      NEVER learn just feel sick

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

same old same old they let them off the hook the tactics are pathetic

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Gayle on 30 mins to late

    • thewildchimp

*Gayle on 85 mins too late

      Fixed that for ya, mate.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        true

  • DC1964

    FFS!!!

  • thewildchimp

I was just sitting here, thinking: “Wouldn’t it be bad if we concede from the non-existing corner?” Me and my big mouth…

  • DC1964

Unlucky from Darlow, the initial save was brilliant

  • Natturner26

Classic Rafa subs two like for likes then switch the striker too late.

    • 1957

Striker should have been the first off

      • thewildchimp

        But he was excellent defensively!

        • 1957

          For Burnley

          • thewildchimp

            :D

  • 1957

The Hoss’s misses are going to cost us, Benitez needs to take a long look at the highlights and accept he is contributing to our problems by continuing to play this waste of space

    • DC1964

I had a feeling they would

    • Mrkgw

Agreed. He is completely hapless. That should spell the end of his time at the club. But, Rafa will keep on playing him. Why, why, why!

    • Phil Yare

and diame. he hasn’t even got a position. i dont know what the hell hes doing on a football pitch

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

keep playing like this and we`re down

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Slomo, Perez, Hoss, Merino all had terrible games Hoss the worst of the lot

    • Virsino

Atsu, Yedlin, Dummet equally as poor.

      • JonMag

most of them are krap, the new boy was our best player

        • thewildchimp

Really made a difference! Too bad his shot was deflected…

    • 1957

SloMo’s performance was stellar compared to Hoss

  • Rev

Rafa has played the same tactic all season… whats the chance of him trotting out ‘individual mistakes cost us’ benching Darlow for ever and sticking with Hoss for the rest of the season.

  • JonMag
  • DC1964

Was never a corner that lead to the Burnley goal!

  • Phil Yare

YES! a point. can’t wait for all the new signings to play for the next game

  • thewildchimp

Technically, if Benitez started playing Mitro now, it would be like he got a new striker.

    • Mrkgw

It would. And Rafa should do just that. He needs to overcome this stubborness for the good of the team.

    • Phil Yare

      he’s probably unfit. terrible management

    • 1957

Mitrovic will not have a place in the nominated 25 now I expect, replaced by Slimani

  • Peaky Magpie

Bournemouth aside results been kind again tonight.

    • Danimal

      Agreed.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

chicked 2 points away, down to Rafa

      • Danimal

Missed a pen and conceded an unlucky own goal. Not sure Rafa is to blame.

        • GToon

That simpleton who took the penalty shouldn’t be on the pitch so that part is down to Rafa.

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

          Hoss, that`s down to Rafa

          • Danimal

            Yes that’s true. Ish.

          • MadMag83

We were still winning though. Darlow messed it up.

          • Chuck D

Nope thats down to Ashley, pay peanuts….

Had we got the decent striker Rafa asked for in the summer that game and a few others would have been killed off.

    • GToon

They have but the unfortunate fact is that all of those teams down at the bottom apart from us are capable of winning against the big teams. One win for them is going to take us a minimum of three games to catch up.

      • Peaky Magpie

Absolutely…home form is taking us down

    • StevieB

Yeah but we could have put some daylight between us and the drop zone but we’ve blew our own toes off again

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

As soon as we scored Negative Rafa forced us to play 20 yards further back and handed the initiative to Burnley.. playing into their hand allowing them to build pressure with balls into the box …Benitez is the most negative manager in our history and his decision to ostracise Mitrovic in favour of that plank Joselu is nothing short of a disgrace !

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      100% correct

    • Phil Yare

their manager was brave and brought on a striker, they got their reward instantly. rafa did nowt but take off our best player and play some of our worst

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Kenedy had cramp

    • StevieB

I haven’t seen the highlights, did they really go defensive after scoring? If so that’s a terrible decision when it seemed like they were on the front foot all night before the Lascelles goa.
Mitrovic will be laughing at Benitez on the flight back from Belgium tonight after Joselu’s performance tonight.
Anyone who doesn’t believe in Karma is mad .
He plays like that after they’ve tried to force Mitrovic out …..you couldn’t write it 🙄

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

i watched the whole match, as soon as we scored we went defensive they controlled the game from that point

        • StevieB

My god ☹️, it was the same at every home game last year, he was obsessed with a narrow shutout when the opportunity was there to put the opposition to the sword . It sound like tonigh was the same except he got done again by Premiership opposition and poor decision makers in his team .

      • Danimal

Kamara on Sky said we were full of confidence and going for it in the ten minutes after the goal. Hoss – who else – missed a good chance for 2-0.

    • Mrkgw

      Very well said.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

mark my words we will go down if Rafa doesn`t shake his head & sort it

    • Peaky Magpie

      Yup with Brighton & Huddersfield

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

watched it on the box, was torture

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

      Rafa is a con man

      • 1957

At any other club and even here in the days of Shepherd he would have been sacked

        • Peaky Magpie

Have to agree and it would have happened a while back now

  • Phil Yare

by the time slimani is fit the season will be over

  • GToon

    Has Slimani signed ?

    • Tony Mann

If he has. he’ll be regretting it.

      • GToon

Well it’s only on loan until he finds a good club. Just wondered what this failed medical rumour is. Is it Ashley trying to get him even cheaper?

        • Peaky Magpie

          Bad back probably….it’s rife

          • GToon

To go with Rafa’s bad side?

          • Peaky Magpie

            👍 very good

    • Wor Lass

Yes. From the Hoss`s mouth (Lee, the hoss, that is).

  • Andy Mac

and there are those who consider Mitrovic to be sh***e ?🤔

    • Phil Yare

thats their argument but surely its worth trying something else when clearly you can’t get any worse

    • Tony Mann

      Unfortunately, he is shyte .
This aligns with his inability to hit a warehouse from 10 yards and being a moronic thug who spends as much time suspended as he spends thinking with his peabrain how to spend the £60K he gets from NUFC.
I think you realise I’m not a big fan of his.

      • HarryHype59

He is shyte but as much as Cart Hoss!

        • thewildchimp

Funny how he can score for Anderlecht, McClaren and Serbia, but not for Benitez. Besides, he does score. He has the best goal per minute ratio in our club and hasn’t had a start this season.

      • paul mclaughlan

        He couldn’t hit a bulls ar5e with a banjo.

    • Angelswithdirtyfaces

The problem is that if the story is true of him mouthing off abuse at Rafa and then storming off in training, then he just won’t be played. No manager would put up with that – Fergie got rid of players for less than that.

      • Andy Mac

So W T F did Mbemba say to him ? 🤔 Talk on Fulham fan site that they’re hoping he signs for them.

        • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Dunno about that one,, rumour mill in overdrive anyway

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Point at home to the likes of Burnley isn`t good enough negative tactics again & again at home

    • Phil Yare

brighton, bournemouth, watford – cant beat anybody

      • GToon

If you disguised our reserves and played them we wouldn’t beat them either.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Bournemouth just hammered Chelsea

        • Phil Yare

aggghhhh – WE cant beat anyone!

      • GToon

What? They can’t beat anybody or is that the list of teams we can’t beat? Ours is a lot bigger than that. In fact it’s all of them bar stoke, west ham and palace isn’t it.

        • Phil Yare

          WE cant beat anyone

  • Coach Clagnut

Comedy of errors. Individual mistakes, handing the initiative to Burnley, was our downfall.
Sloppy passing will be the death of us.

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

      Negative management

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

who in the actual F#$K would be better than Rafa?? no one ever has a decent answer for this because there isn’t one

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

People like you were saying who would we get if we sacked McClaren and Pardew… there are always managers who want this job!

          • Coach Clagnut

You know any available that’s won 13 trophies over 15 years?

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

So everything is fine then? …never mind what we are seeing week on week because Rafa won trophies at other clubs … AND was still sacked because of his negativity by the way

          • Coach Clagnut

Nowt to do with his supposed negativity. Politics at Madrid and the Italian Ashley at Inter.
            Check it out, it’s true.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

Political? No ..the players hated his negative management

          • Coach Clagnut

He didn’t set the team up to feed Ronaldo and Madrid weren’t about to sell him. He got a 1.5 million bonus off Madrid after they’d won the big cup again.

          • JonMag

you know anybody that`s relegated Newcastle twice ?

          • Coach Clagnut

            Mike Ashley

          • JonMag

            he`s not a manager

          • Coach Clagnut

And Rafa hasn’t relegated us twice. It’s like blaming Shearer for relegation when we all know who was really culpable.
If we go down it’ll be Ashley who has relegated us twice.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

Rafa had plenty of points and some really winnable fixtures to target when he took over …were cautious rather than brave in the important fixtures

          • paul mclaughlan

Ridiculous blaming Rafa for taking us down. We were in freefall. Two games more and he’d have kept us up.

          • RAFmag

Rafa’s selections and tactics were as baffling 2 years ago as they are now. We lost at Norwich away and drew with Sunderland at home and Villa away he could not get a reaction from them. Rafa had a better squad to chose from then. Twist or stick with the manager, god only knows! I am desperate for Rafa to turn it around.

          • hetonmag

Yes and the Great Mitro missed an easy header against Villa and that dummy Colback gave a stupid free kick away right on half time against Norwich which they scored from never mind blame Rafa for both instances.

          • RAFmag

I wouldn’t blame him for an individual mistake or a striker missing a chance. All I was trying to put across was that he was not blameless in us going down 2 years ago and I fear for us this year as 1 to 11 I think we are worse. I am desperate for Rafa to turn it around. I am still with him and will never forget how he didn’t turn away when we were relegated 2 years ago.

          • hetonmag

In a way I half agree with you because I have always stood by whatever team Rafa chooses and whatever tactics he chooses to play but I have got to say I can’t even make a case for him continuing to play Joselu.

          • paul mclaughlan

            See above.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

Look at the fixtures he had to play with

          • paul mclaughlan

No one could’ve stopped the rot and saved us that season. Testament to Benítez that he nearly did.

          • thewildchimp

Well, I don’t know anyone with money interested in owning a football club, so does that mean Ashley should stay?

Benitez will probably walk away at the end of the season. The sheer stupidity of our owner and the stubbornness of our manager did us no right this year….

          • RAFmag

We stay up, Rafa will likely leave because of lack of ambition. We go down and he will likely not fancy the Championship for a second time. Either way is he going to be our manager next season?

          • 1957

And in these circumstances do a better job…

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

            Who could do worse?

          • Megatron1505

            Nigel Farage

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

Joe F Kinnear, Steve McClaren, Alan Pardew, John Carver, Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley, Graeme Souness, Sam Allardyce and on and on

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

Pardew and McClaren were both yes men goobers. I hated them when they were here and I’m glad they are both gone.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

I despised everything about them BUT they were questioned about their buys, tactics and results far far more than Benitez.. every manager should be held accountable to the same standard

          • hetonmag

            They had better players.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

Rafa gets to buy his own players

        • Rev

Anyone who is prepared to try to win games with what we have by playing different tactics? The squad isnt going to change, you happy to watch this season after season!

        • GToon

Rafa is playing the kind of “pick up a point” football that you play to creep over the line when you have points on the board. Unfortunately we seemed to have missed the “have a go” football he should have played at the start of the season to get those points. Now it all just looks like too little too late.

        • zidangus

Have you seen our form, the question to ask is who could be any worse than Rafa ?

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

6 from 15 is hardly embarrassing with the side we have…

          • zidangus

If your not embarrassed about being relegated then I guess you’re right, because our form is relegation form.

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

literally not true. simple arithmetic shows otherwise.

      • Coach Clagnut

We shouid have had that one wrapped up. Poor decisions and relaxed passing killed our momentum. Mind, I thought we looked shot on 80 minutes.

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

Apart from the awful penalty and Perez’s pathetic free kick then Joselu’s hopeless header our strikers didn’t have a shot

          • Coach Clagnut

Not forgetting the gilt edged chance Joselu glided just past the post. For a striker, the boy is jinxed.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

            Not jinxed just garbage

          • RAFmag

Oops, you beat me to it.

          • RAFmag

            Not jinxed, just rubbish.

  • Leicester Mag

Every aspect of this club is gut wrenching. The off field antics, purile football zero ambition. What is the fookin point?

  • Kev-82

This home form is nothing short of embarrassing. Any other manager we’ve had had been hounded out for less but Rafa is untouchable. Ok he’s not got the squad he’d like but how many of our managers under Ashley have had good backing? I won’t say he should be sacked as we are in an impossible position to attract anybody to turn us around so we have to pin our hopes on Rafa.

Once again we see lower teams beating Chelsea & Arsenal but Rafa thinks we can win those games by camping in our penalty box. So that’s everybody at home and all the bigger teams away we can’t beat so just where are the points coming from to keep us up?

    • 1957

If we continue to adopt the defeatist approach to matches nowhere

    • Angelswithdirtyfaces

There’s no blame on Rafa for missing the pen..and which other Prem side was forced to buy a striker at £5m ?
Ayew is much classier fr’ instance and Swans got the new manager bounce.

      • JonMag

he wasn`t forced to do anything pal

        • Angelswithdirtyfaces

So you’re a striker short and the owner gives you a peanut for a transfer budget ? What do you do ? Rafa’s already said you won’t get anybody decent under £20m

      • thewildchimp

He has one worth 10m and another worth 13m standing right there during the call-ups.

        • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Perhaps Joselu watches Gerrard, Waddle, Pearce etc. training video.

      • RAFmag

He could have chosen someone else to take the penalty – anybody else. How confident were you when you saw Joselu had the ball. My heart sank. He is choosing to play that £5M striker and sending a better one on an embarrassing wild goose chase to Belgium.

  • JonMag

the whole lot of them want [email protected]@king shafting from the manager down

  • GToon

There’s a few people connected with our club who need to know why one end of our ground is called “Gallowgate”.

    • StevieB

He’s on a plane at the minute, what do we have to lose ?

  • StevieB

Sounds like Sean Dyche made a smart change of tactic and it was a game changer. I wonder if Benitez will take note 🤔

    • 1957

      No

    • JonMag

      NO

    • Peaky Magpie

      I like Rafa but he’s a reet stubborn f**ka…..

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Benitez played into his hands by dropping off

      • 1957

He fell asleep…explains why Hoss stayed on

  • JonMag

he starts with a point anything else is a bonus, he`s the most negative manager in the league

  • GToon

I would not be surprised to see Rafa get the sack over the next couple of games if we end up in the bottom three. That could be what Ashley has saved his money for

    • David2211

I love Rafa, but something as ridiculous as that may stir people into action and actually start trying to shift the owner out?
I doubt it like. Living in fantasy land.

    • StevieB

      Crazy statement.

      • JonMag

not so crazy, the way things are going we`ll be in the championship if something isn`t done

      • GToon

I don’t want him to be sacked but I dont believe Ashley doesn’t have it in him if we could go down.

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

He would fully deserve it on results and the football we serve up

      • hetonmag

C’mon be brave pick your team let’s see what players and formation you would choose to stop us playing as you say drab football.

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

Do you want the team before or after transfer deadline?

          • hetonmag

            Any time that suits.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

If all fully fit and Before deadline I’d have played Darlow, Yedlin, Lascelles, Le June and Gamez in a back four with Merino and Mbemba holding midfield with a flexible three in front of them Aarons, Atsu and Murphy with Mitrovic up front ..that three could be changed to include a Shelvey or Gayle depending on the opposition or home or away fixtures… the major change would be in mentally..be solid through the centre and positive with pace in attack playing off the focal point of Mitrovic… Mbemba was excellent in the African cup playing defensive midfield and i can’t understand why we never tried him there, Gamez was outstanding in his only start .. the difference in quality of passsing and awareness was huge, again, why hasn’t he played more?

          • hetonmag

Agree with Gamez, don’t agree with Atsu (been poor lately) Mbemba ( a possible in the role you mention ) not good enough as a defender, Aaron’s once again IMO not good enough Murphy is much better, Merino is too weak as was shown last night. We all have our own ideas who’s good and who’s not so good, I think we both agree on one thing Joselu shouldn’t be anywhere near a football pitch, and that’s one thing I disagree with Rafa about. Oh I forgot to mention Mitro all I will say is if you don’t try something you will never know the outcome. Cheers at least you haven’t been abusive and you’ve put your case forward good on ya.

    • Tony Mann

I believe, as we all do, that the squad is hopelessly under strength but as a team we lurch from shocking display to shocking display despite our own low standards.
At the season start, we seemed to pull together and the false position we found ourselves in, proved to be exactly that.
‘Things’ fell apart relatively soon after the last transfer window.
There is no respite from the absolute dross fed up to us week in / week out.
How Joselu gets a shirt escapes me.
Rafa wont get the sack – he’s on too much money.
Rafa wont resign – he’s on too much money.
[email protected] knows where we go from here.

      • zidangus

Why would he resign, he’s at a club where a large percentage of the fans love you when you get beat. He will never have a job like that again.

        • Tony Mann

£5 Million a year – Nobody in their right mind would resign a job like that – regardless of how shyte it was.

  • Geordie Pete Moore

Joselu, thats the last time I would let him anywhere near the first team we should shift him to Sunderland the neet, He couldnt score in a brothel, shocking maybe its because he is Spanish he gets special treatment, never play him again FFS, Sorry lad your just not good enough

  • David2211

Rafa’s the most negative manager in the league because maybe, just maybe, our squad is awful and has been so neglected in terms of funding from the owner that we’ve got nowt across the park?
Ah but never mind we’re getting an unheard of goalkeeper in and an injured striker from Leicester. Not to worry.

    • JonMag

he`s still [email protected]@king there so he`s party to it !!!!!!!!!

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Our squad Inst perfect but neither is a lot of clubs who just get on with it and more importantly play to the strengths of the players they have rather than try to adapt players to the managers stubborn tactics… we have better players than a lot of clubs but Rafa has moaned about them rather than boost their confidence

  • JonMag

i honestly think he`s lost the plot

  • Geordie Pete Moore

Only a miracle can save us from the drop now, Stavely dodged a bullet

    • HarryHype59

Fatso could be on the blower begging the blonde to buy this club for £250m, once we are back in the Fizzy pop league.

  • HarryHype59

Interesting listening to Adrian Durham on Talk Sport this evening. He reckons Rafa is no longer a top manager and that has to take responsibility for the dire home form.

    • JonMag

      yes, he has

    • Coach Clagnut

Adrian Durham huh? Must be true then.

      • HarryHype59

I think he talks mostly utter sh*te, but he may have a point on Rafa. This absurd deification of Benetiz by sections of our support is not justified by results.

        • zidangus

I wouldn’t mind if he actually won a trophy for the toon (championship apart) but exactly what has he done that makes his so special in so many fans mind ? Liverpool fans I can understand but Newcastle fans, Why ?

      • hetonmag

I he loves the North East teams.

    • zidangus

Well we can blame the lack of transfers till the cows come home, but Rafa gets paid to win games, and TBH the form the toon are in he does not deserve to be paid.

      • Danimal

9 points from the last 7 games, including 2 write offs vs Man City. It’s not earth shattering but I think I’d have taken that beforehand. We’ve actually gained on a few teams such as Southampton, Stoke, West Brom, Huddersfield, Brighton and Watford during that time. I’m as frustrated as anyone by results like tonight and the other home games but I think it’s incorrect to call this bad form. If so, there’ll be nine or ten managers not getting paid. I think we’re a poor squad that is fighting to stay up against the odds. I know it’s sad. But there we are.

        • zidangus

The expectations are really this low for some fans now ? This is bad form, in fact it’s relegation form, let’s be honest.

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

we have the least talented side in the EPL, since we are NOT in last place (or in the relegation spots for that matter) I’d say that is a decent return.

          • Danimal

Yes they are, not by choice but the reality of what Ashley has done to the club. It’s splitting hairs but 9 from 7 = 45 from 35, that’s comfortably staying up with 3 games to spare. Unfortunately 1 point from 9 games before that wasn’t so clever!

          • zidangus

            Sounds good in ‘theory’

          • Danimal

It’s not the theory I’m looking at, it’s the reality. Sadly the reality is trying to scrape another 14-16 points from 13 games remaining. I’m not sure if we can but I’m pleased we still have a reasonable chance. At the start of the season I would definitely have taken 9 points from the first 7 games, as a newly promoted team. As it turned out, we exceeded that but we all knew it would be a tough season. 13 game season now, theory, reality, call it what you like. On the plus side, the two outfield signings should improve the team…

    • nufcslf

Intetesting and sadly probably not too far from the truth, especially with this being a do or die match that should have seen every forward available on the pitch to get a much needed win. Fatty has f**ked this to a point now that it is just a lost cause no matter how you try to sum it up.

  • Phil Yare

rolando aarons is 10 times the player diame is. our manager must be on glue

    • hetonmag

Sorry but that’s a ridiculous assessment.

      • JonMag

maybe, but he`s [email protected]@king useless

        • hetonmag

Thought he was our best player tonight IMO.

          • RAFmag

I agree, Merino by comparison was anonymous. Diame gets stick regardless of how he plays.

          • hetonmag

Correct but nobody on this forum notices that because Diami is another whipping boy.

      • zidangus

You’re right, maybe 9 times the player.

        • hetonmag

You’re another one it’s the fashion on here have a go at Diami why not have a go at the anonymous Merino.

          • zidangus

There are only a few players in the team I wouldn’t have a go at to be fair.

          • hetonmag

But you decided to single Diami out.

          • zidangus

I was replying to your post about the player.

          • hetonmag

You were being sarcastic mate which is fair enough.

          • zidangus

To a degree, but also giving my opinion about the player you and someone else mentioned.

      • Phil Yare

        why?

        • hetonmag

Just my opinion why didn’t you mention Merino or Atsu who by the way missed a sitter. Diami was my MOTM.

      • Phil Yare

your going to be wrong. again.

Like to think not but maybe Rafa with his negative tactics is trying to get the sack so he doesn’t have to give money to fatty for breaking his contract. If we stop up this season which I doubt then I will give £50 to the kids heart ward(23) at the Freeman.

    • Andy Mac

Maybe we should set up a fund of some sort to take donations from fans if we manage the unlikely escape ? They’d be inundated if we made it ?

  • zidangus

The strike force were terrible, Joselu and Perez could not hit a barn door.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

maybe because Kenedy has only played 2 competitive games this year?

      • zidangus

So what, he still looked better than anyone else in the team. Which kind of shows how bad our team is.

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

two separate issues. Due to lack of games. Kenedy isn’t completely match fit so Rafa can’t keep him in the full 90.

          • zidangus

Emm yes he could, he’s a fit professional footballer FFS, he should be able to play 90 minutes.

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

            that’s not how it works…

          • zidangus

            Ok if you say so.

  • Andy Mac

We looked like lost souls at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Three days later Chelski, albeit without a central striker, lose 3-0 to Bournemouth . I’m beginning to think there might be a genuine shift in opinion about Rafa in the next few weeks. Joselu always preferred yet cannot hit a cows backside. Mitro ostracised and Mbemba on his way out. Now we’re about to sign Mat Selz’s understudy ?

    Marco Silva’s available ?

    • Danimal

Bournemouth have better players than us, presumably because their owner is “a country”, which Mike Ashley can’t compete with, because he’s no a country, he’s just a, well, you can work out the last bit.

  • Peaky Magpie

10-20pm and Rafa still doesn’t have all the information on today’s transfers ???
WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON ???

  • Peaky Magpie

Slimani deal not finalised yet…..here comes the massive sting in the tail…

    • thewildchimp

Might be because Mitro’s loan failed. Ridiculous, all of that, if you ask me. Who knows what’s true and what isn’t…

  • Peaky Magpie

Kenedy frantically looking for another club with 25 mins left

    • RAFmag

Looks a player to me. Much more quality on the ball than our other wide options. If only we had a striker who could convert the chances he will create.

      • Tony Mann

When you refer to ‘wide options’ – could you be referring to our amply indulged owner – He’s extremely fookin wide.

        • Jonas

A wide boy, metaphorically and literally.
a c**t too, but not literally

    • Tony Mann

If I hadn’t supported them for 55 years, I’d be looking for another club.

      • Peaky Magpie

Me as well but I’m not as old as you 😂😂 44 years for me mate.

        • Tony Mann

          I’m 60 mate come from a family of 6 –
          Lived in Jarrow –
3 Mags, Dad, me, youngest brother.
3 SMB’s, Mam, sister, other brother.
Think my first 5 years were spent at parents expense with them trying to fight out my allegience.
Thankfully Dad won – but you can imagine the carnage on derby day

  • Peaky Magpie

The silence from The Moose is a bit concerning….hope he’s alreet….

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

Disappointing result but without Rafa this side would be on <15 points. Almost any other manager the pie man has trotter out would have us bottom by a wide margin already.

    • zidangus

Come on, Rafa has not saved us 15 points this season, stop defending the coach when his team is on such a poor run of form. He gets paid to win games not lose them.

      • Danimal

What does he get for a draw?

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

What? Rafa and his negativity have cost us more points than enough especially at home!

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

his “negative tactics” are the only reason the least talented team in the EPL are out of last place (and currently safe from relegation).

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

Utter claptrap.. Benitez has talked our squad down far to much .. we have better footballers than Burnley .. far more talented players but our tactics hamstring them

      • Ram Kishore

U need to clean the dirt from your eyes..do u say we played negatively yesterday..
We did a lot of attacking
        Diame was great yesterday

  • StevieB

Mitro now being subbied to Fulham 🙄, I couldn’t help but imagine his aerial ability on the end of those wicked Kenedy deliveries tonight .
I’d love to know what he’s done to deserve this ………
    And Mbemba ………
    And Saivet ………
    And Jesus Gamez

    😂😂💪💪

    • thewildchimp

Well, Slimani is awesome in the air, so it might work out in the end.

Islam Slimani passes medical and completes loan move to Newcastle United – Sky Sports

  • Alreet

What is the point of joselu. He misses a pen and a sitter. Gayle has to start with slimani in the next game. We have to attack coz we were pathetic tonight.

  • Cockneytrev

Has anything been mentioned on sky or BT about the protest banner?

    • Danimal

      Don’t think so.

    • Ram Kishore

But Faustino Asprilla posted the picture of it in twitter
