We asked fans…’Will Newcastle spend £15m or more on a player in January transfer window?’ – The Results

Newcastle United have the fourth round of the FA Cup and Premier League action within the next five days but it is the January transfer window that is occupying most of our thoughts.

So far there have been 23 confirmed incoming transfers to Premier League clubs and Newcastle United’s contribution so far has been the Kenedy loan deal, a deal which first started up last summer.

The 21 year old left sided player has pace and potential to help in the relegation struggle but will Rafa Benitez be getting anything else of substance?

Relegation rivals Brighton, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace, Stoke and West Ham have all brought in bigger signings, so will Newcastle join them?

Last week, Rafa Benitez said that Mike Ashley had assured him that money would be made available to bring in the signings he wanted but still not one player bought.

Ashley’s people leaked that Newcastle were preparing to spend £20m on a mystery striker.

That turned out to be apparently Nicolai Jorgensen of Feyenoord but the Dutch media report that Newcastle only made a derisory offer of £12m which was instantly rejected.

Our question for Newcastle fans earlier today (Friday 26 January) was a simple one: ‘Do you believe Newcastle will spend £15m or more on a player in January transfer window?’

Well, yet another day appears to have gone by without any player being bought, never mind a £15m (or more…) one.

So we have counted up our poll results now and the votes show:

83% Newcastle won’t buy a player for £15m or more in January

17% Newcastle will buy a player for £15m or more in January

So basically the feedback from Newcastle supporters is around one in six think that a £15m+ player will be signed by NUFC.

By 11pm on Wednesday night we will all know the truth, has Mike Ashley finally backed Rafa Benitez in the transfer market?
