Newcastle United have the fourth round of the FA Cup and Premier League action within the next five days but it is the January transfer window that is occupying most of our thoughts.

So far there have been 23 confirmed incoming transfers to Premier League clubs and Newcastle United’s contribution so far has been the Kenedy loan deal, a deal which first started up last summer.

The 21 year old left sided player has pace and potential to help in the relegation struggle but will Rafa Benitez be getting anything else of substance?

Relegation rivals Brighton, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace, Stoke and West Ham have all brought in bigger signings, so will Newcastle join them?

Last week, Rafa Benitez said that Mike Ashley had assured him that money would be made available to bring in the signings he wanted but still not one player bought.

Ashley’s people leaked that Newcastle were preparing to spend £20m on a mystery striker.

That turned out to be apparently Nicolai Jorgensen of Feyenoord but the Dutch media report that Newcastle only made a derisory offer of £12m which was instantly rejected.

Our question for Newcastle fans earlier today (Friday 26 January) was a simple one: ‘Do you believe Newcastle will spend £15m or more on a player in January transfer window?’

Well, yet another day appears to have gone by without any player being bought, never mind a £15m (or more…) one.

So we have counted up our poll results now and the votes show:

83% Newcastle won’t buy a player for £15m or more in January

17% Newcastle will buy a player for £15m or more in January

So basically the feedback from Newcastle supporters is around one in six think that a £15m+ player will be signed by NUFC.

By 11pm on Wednesday night we will all know the truth, has Mike Ashley finally backed Rafa Benitez in the transfer market?

  • Mr Carl g colk

Just buy, buy, buy get you cash out cashley,if not bye bye

  • Mitros gotta start

I dont think the fat slug has spent 15 million in 10 windows if you take sales into account

    • Clarko

€421.37m on players, with a €74.88m net spend.

      • Mitros gotta start

Including all the transfer windows since he bought the club?

      • Mitros gotta start

Works out to be €3.5m per window if your figures are correct……shoestring is an understatement

        • Clarko

The spend and net spend is similar to the other comparable PL clubs over the 10 years, direct comparison is hard because no club has been relegated and promoted twice in that time, but it’s similar.

          • HarryHype59

I think you inadvertently identified the problem when you mention relegation.

The recruitment policy at this club has been fundamentally flawed under your hero. Two relegations confirm this.

          • Clarko

This is about spend not recruitment, we’ve spent a lot.

          • Wezza147

And how much money has he taken out of the club and lined his pockets with?
Where has the money gone. That’s a rhetorical question.

          • Clarko

Ashley has taken no money out of the club to my knowledge.

          • Wezza147

Then where has all the money gone? Are you another’s PR drone?

          • Clarko

Go and read the accounts yourself or just continue to remain ignorant and uninformed, it’s your choice.

          • Wezza147

So you don’t deny you are a PR drone? After 10 years of Ashley we are all well informed of his practices and his repeated, proven lies. Enough is enough.

          • Clarko

So you don’t deny that you’re ignorant?

Look at what this has turned into, you had nothing to counter the money spent on players so you move on to pocketed money, he hasn’t pocketed money (to my or your knowledge) and so you move on to “practices” and “lies”. You’re all over the place, you don’t have a relevant argument, just whinging.

          • Wor Lass

            He meant to say “trousered”.

          • Wor Lass

            He he!

          • Danimal

I love the way you talk about those relegations as if they were some act of God. Although we all know you see the fat slug as some kind of god, so perhaps it makes sense.

      • jack

Is that his total spend since he bought club ?

        • Clarko

          Yeah.

          • Wor Lass

There`s been more than 10 windows since he bought the club.

          • jack

Unbelievable isn’t it , no wonder were in the position we’ve been in since he took over , and how the hell can we be in debt with him ? Where’s all the money gone ?

      • JonMag

you some sort of bean counter

      • FatParosite

        Bishop!!!!

      • Dillon Tovak

        Not much indeed is it!!

      • HarryHype59

Statistics are meaningless unless their context is understood. Tell me Mr Stats …how much in player sales and TV revenue has your master raked in during this period?

        • Clarko

Is it the reading or the math that you’re struggling with? Do you see the “net spend” part?

And what are you talking about? “Context”? It’s the total amount spent on players and net spend 😂

Feel free to tally up the revenue, tally up the wage bill while you’re there.

          • HarryHype59

            Time period?

Income from TV revenue over that period?

Net spend compared to clubs of a similar size?

These are key factors that make the statistics meaningful. Otherwise it’s just meaningless data.

            Think about it!

          • Clarko

It’s not meaningless because the comment I was responding to questioned the spend and net spend in “10 windows” (I assumed he meant 10 years). I provided all that information.

            Think about it.

          • Blackburn1066

You can talk all day about what the little fat C-nt spends but the fact is he has not got the cash to run our club.
( If you can remember that is ( Newcastle United Football Club ) That is the seat you have been sitting in for god knows how long, and eating his sh-t pies and drinking his over priced slop that he calls beer? Our manager is here because he is tied into a contract that makes it better for him if he slogs it out to the bitter end.

The fans have a seat in the ground and hope and dream of better times when the F-t C-nt F-cks Off , that in it’s self is a form of mental blackmail because we all want our team to do well. If we all stay away from games it would mean nothing to him as he has our cash and the game would still go ahead, flags of protest don’t do any good if it became a problem he would just ban the flags, NUFC will be taken over I hope in the summer, but on that point I live in hope.

          • Clarko

Dude, I only quoted a number.

          • Blackburn1066

I know I am just so Piss-d off with the fat man I could cry

          • Clarko

            I feel you.

          • Danimal

And if accurate, it’s pretty damning. £50m or so over ten years, during which time top level clubs have absolutely gorged themselves on tv money etc. Ok, to be fair, your hero has ensured that we missed out on a few years of that but you get the picture. Or you probably don’t.

          • Wor Lass

“Math” – are you American? Speak English, man!

  • brin mcardle

    This is so sad

    • Wor Lass

Don`t worry, they`ll soon bring him back!

      • Peaky Magpie

He’ll be preparing a speech of Churchillan proportions to be exclusively released as soon as the transfer window closes on Wednesday night….

        • Wor Lass

He`ll probably accuse the FCB of “being guilty of a terminological exactitude”!

          • Peaky Magpie

🤣🤣🤣 I’ve got exactly nee idea what that means.

          • Wor Lass

            Google Winston Churchill/terminological inexactitude.

          • Peaky Magpie

            Will do

          • Peaky Magpie

So it basically means untruth or a lie, never mind Leazes I’m going to use that one myself….😁

          • Blackburn1066

Oh! I had one of those, I walked very badly for some time.

    • Wor Lass

Just checked into one of your favourite places. Clue: La Latina!

    • Blackburn1066

He’s on his hol’s in Sunderland Ha ha

  • Jezza

Forget this current transfer window. I absolutely guarantee that Newcastle United will never spend £15 million on a player as long as that fat greedy bloodsucking parasite Ashley owns the club.

    • Wezza147

Totally agree. If the history of this wretched owner is anything to go by we won’t get anyone and the excuse will be ‘January is a very difficult market’
      Get out of our club!

      • Blackburn1066

Yes but still 52.000 sheep from the hills turn up. here fat man more cash that you won’t spend on players.

  • Mitros gotta start

No wonder we cant get anyone in Rafa says he is meeting with charnley every day….let him go and sign some players you daft TW4T

    • Dillon Tovak

Also when he says I gave mike Ashley a list of players on January 1st. I hope he doesn’t mean that literally, surely you should be doing stuff all the time ready to strike as soon as the window opens!!!

      • Mitros gotta start

No point with jabba the hut and his lapdog in charge…nowt happens until the last day anyway

        • Peaky Magpie

Aye,I think our window has been painted over and is stuck rigid.

          • Mitros gotta start

Hard to get off that 11 year old paint you know

        • JonMag

nowt happens on the last day either unless it`s a sale,
then a helicopter whips the player away & Mike pockets the proceeds, bungs Penfold a couple of grand

          • Mitros gotta start

I think sandro on loan will be the only bit of business we do now

          • JonMag

that`s my guess, Penfold will want Everton to pay half his wages, that`s a knocking bet

          • Peaky Magpie

Can’t believe he’s only 22.Is he from the Arjen Robben school of old men lookalikes ???

      • Blackburn1066

List of players, give me a break. I am starting to think that Raffa has joined there club in the bull sh-t stakes?

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      I only see one daft tw4t here…

  • JonMag

Rafa, we won`t be selling any players to our rivals, Brighton bid £15m for Mitro
Mikes Helo picks him up from his ken, gone baby, gone

    • FatParosite

      Rafa won’t…… ‘The Slug’ WILL…..

      • JonMag

    • Albert Stubbins

Correct. Same goes for shelvey and wet spam. More lies to hike the price up.

  • Peaky Magpie

Pleased we didn’t sign Sanchez after all, couldn’t even score against Yeovil….useless t**t…🤣

    • Jezza

Ha ha Fleckman/Clarko/ghostbuster/Monkseaton will be disappointed his team’s new signing didn’t get off the mark on his debut.

      • Peaky Magpie

  • wheyayeman

It’s all very clear in Financial terms – Ashley’s level is now Division 1 to Championship. In Division 1 he could cope well enough to release equity to buy players and improve a squad. In the Championship where decent players can cost several million Ashley is at the very top of his capacity / willingness to spend. In the Premier League Ashley is way out of his depth. Thats why he has only sought to buy players with what he has been told have a resale value. He has also sold lies like not being able to get players over the line / club for sale to excuse many transfer windows where no purchases were made. 3 options to explain why – 1 He’s way out of his depth and making ridiculous decisions because he’s mad. There is likely some truth to this theory. 2 – not remotely interested in developing NUFC and just asset stripping as much as possible – he’s bad – Very likely or 3 Not actually a Billionaire just creatively financing things to appear wealthier than we thought. This could also be partly true. Either way we must cut ties or drop to his level.

    • thewildchimp

No, he’s a billionaire, but that doesn’t mean he has any liquid assets. However, paying 20m mid-league for a striker shouldn’t be hard for him, nor for the club.

I vote for #2, garnished with a bit of #1. Actually, a lot of nr. 1…
Not necessarily asset-stripping, but milking the club non-the-less. I recon he bought it for the TV deals, free advertising and self-promotion. However, because of the first two, the last part went down the drain. But why would he care? His bread-winning strategy is bankrupting other companies and adding them to his empire. He didn’t buy this club out of love for football and, frankly, that’s the reason why I don’t understand why most of the fans feel so hurt.

Last season I honestly hoped he turned a new leaf – if nothing else: for the money – he proved he didn’t. Maybe he intended, but changed his mind – who cares?

What we need now is a manager who can secure us mid-table finish on a tight budget every season and can rework the youth and scouting system, so we can have a solid foundation to build upon. Don’t know if Benitez might do it – he doesn’t seem so keen to me.
Ashley could disappear for all I care, as long as he leaves the club in at least semi-competent hands.

      • Albert Stubbins

He’s just offered thirty million cash for the market in Brixton. He’s got any amount of liquid cash. Another Ashley lie.

    • TheFatController

After I have been rattling on about the obvious area Ashley should be challenged on his refusal to acknowledge, at last someone else mentions equity!

He crippled the club with relegations because he won’t realise any future value the club has/could have to fund growth.

What then happens is we end up relegated and he loans the club money to cover the shortfall.

What astute businessman Finances his company only when it’s behind, never when it’s ahead? Every successful company uses equity to keep momentum going ahead of the competition.

And that’s why we’re not successful. I think he’s a woeful owner for the above failing…

      • Desree

Great point, he runs it like a market stall.

  • TheNutJob

Nee transfer news, oh well maybe tomorrow

    • Peaky Magpie

      😂😂😂
      Bloody hell,early start Nut.

    • Jezza

We’ll have to wait till the evening of the 31st for some transfer news when Fatso sells one of our first teamers.

  • Mitros gotta start

Apparently this new danish striker has been described as “not the fastest” and “prone to silly red cards like the one he got against ajax this season”
    You couldnt make it up!

    • Jezza

Yes and it has now been reported that the club “won’t be held to ransom” over Jorgensen. That old cliche once again. Yet it’s alright for Fatso to hold PCP to ransom over the sale of the club. He really has got that typical car boot sale mentality. If you want to buy something from him you’ve got to pay through the nose. if he wants to buy something from you he wants it for nothing.

      • TheFatController

Yes there was a double standard that when Ashley buys low and sells high he’s a hard-nosed businessman, commendable, ‘he hasn’t got where he’s got…’ back slapping love-in from apologists.

Then when an investor comes along, who has worked with people like Sheik Mansour and done deals with companies like Barclays (heard of those names?) and plays hard but fair, she’s got no money and is a time waster…

        File under ‘denial’.

      • Albert Stubbins

Yes and no way will we be coughing up the twenty million or more that he’s worth. Then the club will turn around and say we tried right up until deadline hour then didn’t have time for alternative to come in. The well worn cliche that is Newcastle university transfer lies.

    • HarryHype59

He will be another poorly scouted panic buy. There must be better prospects out therefore £20m.

A loan signing for some one like Slimani makes more sense.

    • Dave Pattinson

      Sounds familiar.

    • Damon Horner

One career red card from what I can see.

  • kingfisher

It doesn’t matter how many of us think we won’t sign anyone, we’ll all be watching tv/social media etc,on the last day as the deadline looms, hoping against hope that we get someone in!
It’s a hard one to call as you would assume that The Salad Dodger has to protect his investment and try to keep us in the Prem, but to what degree is anyones guess 🤔🤔

    • Jezza

I’ll just be hoping against hope that Fatso doesn’t sell one of our first teamers. I guarantee beyond any shadow a doubt that the club will not sign anybody on deadline day.

      • kingfisher

Hope you are wrong Jezza. If this was a normal owner and a normal season, I would expect one or two new faces just to freshen things up,and to provide competition. But as we all know (except M.A) it’s absolutely imperative to our survival that we bring some fresh blood in.But I fear, you could possibly be right.

        • Jezza

The stats aren’t good, marra. It is 7 years and 13 transfer windows since Newcastle last signed a player on deadline day. To the best of my recollection the club have only ever signed two players on deadline day in Fatso’s time. Both loan deals, Ignacio Gonzales in August 2008 and Stephen Ireland in January 2011. Considering both those players barely ever kicked a ball for NUFC it’s fair to say the club has never once strengthened on a deadline day since Fatso took over.

          • kingfisher

            Excellent knowledgeJezza.👍

          • hetonmag

Correct Jez and in that time how many times has he had his mate Craigie standing outside SJP on deadline day being fed lies off the fat oaf, it’s just another transfer window full of the usual rubbish.

        • Albert Stubbins

Sadly he’s nearly always right. I’m slowly becoming as pessimistic as him, or is it realistic?

          • kingfisher

Most certainly realistic Albert.I often ask myself do other clubs have the same problems and turmoil as us.Why are we always making the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Sometimes I wonder if we would be better off in a lower division, when we would have no hopes or expectations, just concentrating on football without all of the baggage that comes with being a Newcastle United supporter !

      • Desree

        Jezza here is his rationale.

I have hired a world class manager, if he is as good as he thinks, then he should be able to keep the club up easy. The last time I spent 50m in Jan and we still went down. Plus if the new tv deal works out, I can value the club at 500m and Staveley can go FHS.

  • Desree

If this was poker fatty has a pair of 3s and he is acting like he has a royal flush.
The plane is about to crash into the mountain, i have the last parachute but Fatty wants to haggle. This bloke is not a genius, he is a very lucky fool.
