The Amanda Staveley camp have hit back after Mike Ashley’s PR machine used their usual medium, Sky Sports, to deliver a damning attack on the group bidding to buy Newcastle United.

The Tuesday night Sky Sports offensive (see below) saw a Mike Ashley source (Mike Ashley) say that there was no deal on offer and that nothing is even under discussion.

It went on to claim that the whole Amanda Staveley episode had been a ‘waste of time’ despite the valiant attempts of Mike Ashley to do a deal…

Now though, the very reliable George Caulkin of The Times has given the reply from the Amanda Staveley side, with two sources saying that ‘categorically’ there had been a written offer made in November and that the offer had been made via Chris Mort, who ran the club for Mike Ashley when he first bought it.

George Caulkin of The Times:

“Two sources close to Amanda Staveley assert categorically that PCP submitted a written bid for NUFC in mid November.

“Submitted to Ashley’s solicitors through Chris Mort of Freshfields (who of course used to work for Ashley & the club), they insist.

“For their part, Newcastle sources insist that the statement released to Sky – that talks with Staveley have been “a complete waste of time” – are reflective of Mike Ashley’s views.”

The Mag – 16 January 2017 (Tonight):

Tuesday night exclusive from Sky Sports has revealed there is no deal on the table from Amanda Staveley ‘or even under discussion’ with Mike Ashley.

Sky Sports say that ‘a source close to Mike Ashley’ has told them this.

Which when it is Sky Sports, then we can safely assume that this comes direct from Mike Ashley with them being as thick as thieves.

The Sky Sports story says that the source/Mike Ashley says that they are releasing this information because ‘It is only right to let the fans know…’.

Yes, we all know that the cares and concerns of the Newcastle fans are always close to Ashley’s heart, not.

The PR machine rumbles on, saying that Mike Ashley’s valiant attempts to reach a deal with the Amanda Staveley group had been ‘exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time.

Which coincidentally is how the vast majority of Newcastle fans would describe these 11 seasons under Ashley’s ownership.

Earlier today there was a piece put out by Press Association Sport, who had clearly been briefed by somebody.

Things now falling into place as their source was revealing that Mike Ashley had now agreed to back Rafa Benitez in making three January signings

So it doesn’t take a genius to work out that this was Ashley’s PR people as well, trying to put out a positive message that the owner was (allegedly) prepared to back transfers, before then putting out this barbed attack on Amanda Staveley and her backers. However, that ‘positive’ transfer story was only positive in a very limited way, as when you got past the headline it went on to say that Rafa would be able to bring in three signings but only with a very ‘limited’ budget.

So in other words, the manager has to bring in quality signings on a pittance. Never going to happen.

Of course we all believe what we want to, just as when after Ashley’s announcement the club was up for sale in October, his legal representative in his second appearance on Sky Sports came out and claimed that several other serious bidders had come forward, only to be never mentioned again…

Sky Sports:

‘No deal is in place between Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s PCP group for the sale of the club, Sky Sports News understands.

A source close to Ashley said:

“It is only right to let the fans know that there is no deal on the table or even under discussion with Amanda Staveley and PCP.”

The source added that attempts to reach a deal had proved to be “exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time”.

Sky Sports News have contacted PCP and are awaiting comment.’

As much as I want Ashley out, in a way it’s a good thing for this to break down at the moment. Whilst there may still be no signings, I feel if the takeover was on the table not a single penny would have been spent this month. Now if Ashley is serious about selling he’s going to need to secure premier league status if he wants a decent price in the summer.

    • Cockneytrev

      The word is “IF”
IMHO Ashley has never had any intention of selling,
I would also believe what Slavelys people had to say before anything that comes through anyone who has any dealings of any kind with Ashley, I include Sky in this, (as he Advertises His retail company on sky I don’t think they would want him walking away and possibly putting his adverts on a different channel.)
The man could not lie straight in bed..

  • HarryHype59

So it’s off! Let’s hope our odious owner now backs Rafa big time in this window! Otherwise he will be begging PCP to buy the club for £100 if the club is relegated again!

  • Leicester Mag

Trucked off with lot of them. Lies and counter lies that serve to only heighten the feeling of helplessness and dissolution of fans. Where does this end? Most probably with Rafa leaving and relegation. Hardly if ever felt so sick and fed up. The reputation of the club yet again in a shambles and a national joke.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

I don`t think we`ll go down if Rafa gets his striker, we make chances, just can`t put them away

      • Mitros gotta start

        Nile ranger anyone?
        Lol

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

i think the lack of goals will force his hand & he`ll have to give Mitro a strart

          • Mitros gotta start

Never….he is too stubborn and petrified to be proven wrong….can you imagine if he comes in and knocks a few goals in?

        • Peaky Magpie

Adam Johnson mustn’t cost much when he comes out of clink

          • Mitros gotta start

            Nah…we need a striker….johnson couldnt score in a schoolyard……..oops

          • Peaky Magpie

          • Mitros gotta start

Sign him up to take over from pedro….heard he is popular with the kids

          • Peaky Magpie

I can feel the temperature rising amongst the PC brigade.

  • Alex

If nothing is resolved, Rafa will leave at the end of this season.

If we haven’t already been relegated at this point, then we certainly will be next season.

I’d like to see things brought to a head with Rafa just walking now. Relegation will happen so may as well move it all forward.

Perhaps that’ll make Ashley more keen to do a deal. And perhaps the new owners just might re-employ Rafa.

  • Peter Stabler

    It’s a pantomime and a boring one.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      It`s the biggest Panto ever,
you couldn`t make it up the goings on at Nufc.

They took a knife to a Gunfight against the biggest Knave in the Country there was only going to be one outcome

      • gallowgate26

He made them sign a NDA, yet he can say what he wants to sky sprots at any time…. Rafa can walk whenever he wants, but he will need to buy out his own contract of employment ….aye the fat lad ain’t daft. He’s got everyone over a barrel!

    • Kneebotherm8

      Hasta la vista…….baby……Mike needs terminating….

  • Mark

As much as I want shot of Ashley and the sooner the better, this PCP consortium Don’t seem like the answer, NUFC would be well worth the £350 million he’s asking for if we stay up and start to move up to a new level. They could have got us in early December and invested to see this happen but they didn’t want to pay. So are we to presume they would refuse to pay the difference of £50 million then suddenly give Rafa £100 or £200 million. Sounds like we were going to get another Ashley, all be it a better looking version.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

you`re spot on, with a new Tv deal looming it`s worth over £300m

      • Phil

That tv money is dependant on us being in the epl

That is obviously far from guaranteed

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

Rafa will keep us up & that`s what Fatso`s banking on

          • HarryHype59

Will he though? Looking at the the remaining fixtures we will be lucky to get 35 points! Let’s hope there are three worse teams than NUFC!

        • HarryHype59

That obvious point is lost on those arguing are worth £350m!

    • HarryHype59

PCP were reluctant to buy the club without a relegation clause as the risk of going down again must be around 50:50.

      • Mark

I think thats my point really, they could have got the deal done or to a point where they are near conclusion and invested, then relegation wouldnt have been an issue. we have dropped points in games we have controlled where a lack of quality has let us down, Swansea being an example and we are going to continue to do that unless we spend.

      • Mark

I’d also love to be wrong were this is all just bluster to get the deal done and she comes in and invests properly in the team and the club

  • Paul Patterson

    FFS!!

    • Peaky Magpie

Is their sale still on ???? Oh FFS not DFS….sorry….😂

      • Paul Patterson

The cause was lost 11 years ago.

    • Toonrobbybobson

Ive given up until hes gone. Ive simply had enough. Its not my club until hes gone. Hes destroying my love for my local club ive had pride in since a young boy. I dont want my local club associated with him.

  • Peaky Magpie

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s having a little chortle to himself old chubby cheeks and the sale is announced tomorrow !! What a jester !!! Going to quote Nut here he’s “a bad bad man “ 😂

        Exactly

  • Clive Lancaster

Time to put pressure on hierarchy at Premiere League HQ methinks?

    • Toonrobbybobson

They wont do anything. Only fans can hold him to ransom by not renewing, buying tickets etc as money is the only language he talks. Greed drives him. For me Hall has alot to answer for in selling to him. Hes never been fit or proper to own the club.

      • Mitros gotta start

To be fair until the keegan fiasco most fans thought the sun shone out of his quite substantial 4rse…..i remember him in with the fans….buying drinks….having a great time

        • Peaky Magpie

In hindsight….arsenic in his Tuborg would have sorted it all by now.

        • Dave Pattinson

Yep, it looks like KK was right all along. Ashley must really hate us. He’s scared witless about losing out on the next tv cash in Feb. Sadly by then we could be dead & buried. I dumped my tkt after 44 yrs last year because of Fatboy. I’d love to think supporters would think long & hard next month before renewing. We need him out of our club & if there’s another way, apart from employing the Mafia, I’d like to hear it. He must really think we’re dumb.

          • Mitros gotta start

52000 every week tells him all he needs to know

        • Toonrobbybobson

Whilst I love KK and the fantastic history he has with our club. The fact Ashley brought him back should have been alarm bells. KK had been out the game a long time and he was never exactly stable at a time football was seriously changing.

Ashley was only ever interested in smoke screens/distractions etc while he pulled his main tricks behind the scenes.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Cheer up lads Rafa will save us & the Fat Lad will get his price in the summer

    • Tony Mann

Which summer ? The summer of discontent ? If so, that effer is approaching quick and fast !

      • Mike D

The summer of discontent was 2017… and most of the summers under Ashley.

  • Peaco

Next season’s tenuous excuse for not making any signings: “Mike can’t allow any signings because he’s actually dead” ?

    • Mitros gotta start

      Would we notice any difference?

      • Peaco

The world would be a better place?

  • HappyToons

Mike Ashley as always coming out and doing his very best for NUFC and its loyal supporters, well done Mike, you must be proud of your achievements and feelin’ the lurv once again. More than a decade of waste and neglect and like the Bowie song ‘Love Is Lost’ and the youtube video just when can we ever wash our hands of you and move on. Can we ever forget the odious oik, I doubt it. Can we ever get rid of him…not until he finally washes his hands of us. He is the crane commander in charge of the wrecking ball. STOP!!!! PLEASSSSSSSSSSE!!!!! You are causing me to fall out of love with the beautiful game altogether as I can’t support Sports Direct FC. There’s plenty of other clubs MIke Ashley can go and ruin, so why stick with us???
£100 million in this transfer window and sell the club for £400 million and I’ll make the statue myself when you sell and display it in my own garden with a suitable plaque. There is always hope, or is there.

    • Martin Rooney

What/who would you spend the 100m on?

      • Mitros gotta start

They divvent knaaaa thar born them silly twts…….

  • Tony Mann

Loathsome toxic leech. Our – not Ashley’s – OUR club, in existence for over 120 years has become an advertising hoarding for a shoddy, cheapskate, sports clothing outfit relying on cheap imports and Victorian work practices to allow the fat disgusting slug enough cash to chuck it up in a fireplace.
Wonga on the front of a toon shirt made me choke – but it wasn’t that unexpected considering the way THIS board worked.
I can live with a rubbish team (if we try), even getting relegated.
I can’t live with a club being dragged through the proverbial by a this monstrosity….. just doing it because he can.

    • GToon

So are you pro Ashley or anti Ashley? I couldn’t make it out!

      • Tony Mann

I didn’t want to go overboard as I’ve been on the Gin.

        • Danimal

A new owner would be the best tonic.

        • Peaky Magpie

Divvent gan barfing in the fireplace Tony,it’s not big & it’s not clever !

      • Andy Mac

Soz GToon what couldnt you make out from “Loathsome Toxic Leech” ? 🤔

      • Paul Janes

        Ha ha

    • Andy Mac

Agreed we need to get ourselves organised and reignite the AshleyOut movement but this time until the bitter end !

      • Davey drape

would bring the value down surely

    • wheyayeman

Times up ! Ashleys chance to change is over. Time to unite, time to protest and resist.

  • Martin Rooney

If she’s not shifted from the £250m minus relegation clauses then there isn’t a deal on the table there is just a laughing stock of a jokey offer.

    • GToon

Maybe it was a starting point. Who knows.

      • nevfur

What, you mean how all deals are done?

    • Danimal

Oh God, another one has escaped from Ashley’s backside. Incredible.

    • HarryHype59

It was the only offer made! The market said NO to Ashley’s valuation due to the high risk of us getting relegated!

  • Peter Stabler

Fatty says it’s been exhausting – he’s only just back from his hols!

    • Mitros gotta start

The fat shyte gets out of breath putting his tie on

  • Steve

Deal will be back on in the summer then….?

    • Mitros gotta start

      Next transfer window…..just like clockwork

  • Shipcote Willy

No doubt some fans will swallow the PR from Ashley’s tame media men but just remember what KK said – You can’t believe anything Mike Ashley says and the club will go nowhere under his tenure. Stick to that and you will make sense of the conflicting reports.

    • Kneebotherm8

KK was right on both counts then?……..

  • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Does Ashley have a clue as to what happened to Villa’s sale price ?

    • hetonmag

There’s a piece on the BBC Sports page Randy Lerner turned down £200m when they were in the premier, only going on to sell for £80m when they got relegated. The author saying if it happened to Newcastle they would probably be worth about £100m.

      • HarryHype59

In that case Mandy offers the toad £100m in the summer!

        • Toonrobbybobson

Exactly. The fans will always help the club bounce back without Ashley. Enough to attract an investor or new owner.

        • Angelswithdirtyfaces

If there is a takeover after relegation and Rafa has left, the price will drop (but basically its an act of spite by Ashley.) He could always then return under new ownership using the difference in price to help rebuild the club… Conspiracy theory anyone ?

    • HarryHype59

I’ve been saying this for months! The club is worth a fraction of its EPL value once the premiership TV money is lost through relegation! Looking at the remaining fixtures I cannot see us getting more than 35 points!

Ashley could well be doing a “Randy” next summer if we go down!

      • Toonrobbybobson

Big part of me whats to see his pockets bleed for what hes done to the club and its fans.

        • Guest 2

I want to see him bleed – in a big puddle on a street somewhere.

Amanda and George out total scum.

      • Guest 2

Ashley, Barnes, Bishop, the latest 3 amigos to bring shame on this great club. You, mate, are the scum.

  • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Imagine having to try to do a deal with Ashley.. Easier nailing jelly to a wall

    • gallowgate26

How did we even end up with Ashley in the first place? If the club was up for sale for £180m did he turn up with an offer of £30m….. I’m amazed he even managed to buy the club…

      • He wanted to play Club Owner back then, he said so himself and he did splash a lot of cash in the first years. Perhaps, after failing to generate profit for years and years he realized he could and changed the business model and we all know how this turned out.

        • Guest 2

Howay man. His first 3 seasons and he sat on 51 million of player sales profit. Anything he had to spend was a result of the debt the club had and he has tried to suggest he didn’t know about. Yet he has repaid himself 33 million since the first relegation and added that amount to the club debt (now 144 mil) as further ‘loans’.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      He`s a snide & a Pig but you don`t become a Billionaire through luck
they tried to chance a chancer & failed on every front

      • HarryHype59

They factored in the “risk” to their investment arising from a very high chance of relegation! As Randy Lerner found to his cost, the club value falls 60% once it loses the top flight TV money!

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

He`s not bothered he takes risks, he plays the long game

          • HarryHype59

Looking at the remaining fixtures, there is a 50:50 chance of us going down this season! Unlike the previous relegations, I don’t think we will bounce straight back! The club will then be nigh on worthless!

          • Toonrobbybobson

A clear out at the club the fans can help the club bounce back enough to attract an investor to get back to the Prem.

      • Toonrobbybobson

Any billionaire has dirt on their hands getting there.

    • molend

But you can if you freeze it. Think outside the box. Me and wor lass, for example, are putting a bit of our pension by for an eventual takeover. You’re right, though. There’s no blasted box

  • gallowgate26

I wonder what Benitez makes of all this… Surely he must be furious… just a thought but maybe he’s ready to walk and that’s what has sparked the 3 signings and ‘exhausted, complete waste of time’ stories… Tick tock Rafa wants signings by the 20th..

  • Peaky Magpie

Something still not ringing true here, can see further developments by end of week.

    • Wor Lad

      Agree

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

This year with the Tv money sponsorship, gate money extra money for live Tv appearances Nufc`s gross income will nearly reach £170m
you don`t sell a business that generates that amount for £250m

    • Yes, I agree and I believe that’s what Ashley means as “waste of time”.
We are a big club with a huge following and a great stadium and still in the Premier League. Buying the club would definitely take a minimum of 300m, and maybe Ashley is holding for 350.

    • Cockneytrev

If it’s generating that kind of profit, why would he want to sell,,?
He has never had any intention of selling, he is making too much money out of the club,,

    • HarryHype59

Fair point, the problem 80% of that turnover derives from the EPL TV money! If we are relegated that lucrative income stream ends!

    • Phildene

We won’t see any of it anyway as we all know where it’ll end up and it’s certainly NOT the club!

This is yet another Ashley contrived mess. If he wasn’t happy with the offer he should have backed Rafa at the start of the month BEFORE we played Swansea and kept his insiders gob shut too. Playing out the situation to the media creates unrest just as we play the top team away from home. And why does the budget have to be limited? Why can’t it be what we need? He’s a billionaire about to lose 150 million if we go down. Everything is always negative from Ashley.

    • FatParosite

Not a mess a PR war… A war won I might add, that’s if people go back after Benitez leaves on Feb 1st.

      • Martin Rooney

        He isn’t leaving

        • nufcslf

I hope he does and Sports Direct United falls off the face of the planet. Stupid fat barstuard needs to f**k off.

    • Martin Rooney

Who said the budget is limited the press association they just a group of numpties in an office man beers when you people think about what you read and where it comes from

  • Gareth Marshall

That’s curtains for us then. There’s a fair chance we’ll be relegated now and either way it’s seemingly irrelevant as relegated or not Rafa will be leaving in the summer – I can’t imagine a single reason why he would want to stay and want to work for such a deceitful employer any longer. He can leave with his head held high.

In or out of the PL it won’t make much difference as we’re going to lose the only positive thing about the club. The writing is on the wall, we are heading to ruin and in a way I self-sadistically hope that we do go down so that Ashley can feel some pain.

Losing money is the only thing which will hurt this guy and it’s about time he felt some suffering, like us, the doting fans who deserve much better than this. We will rise again, one day and when we do the feelings we all felt when we first fell in love with the magpies will be rekindled.

This is the worst birthday I’ve had for years. What a thoroughly depressing situation for us all.

    • kingfisher

Agree totally Gareth.Hit him where it hurts.Happy Birthday 🎂🎂🎂

      • FatParosite

They won’t. The sanctimonious FANS are reason we are in this mess.

        • nufcslf

This is the real problem. This could have fixed years ago if angry voices had been hurd at home matches. The world is as soft as shyte and nothing will be done. This shile of pite will not bounce back if it goes down. Not a chance.

    • Toonrobbybobson

I agree. The fans have to hurt him where it will take effect. His pocket. So may not agree but I think Rafa deserves to step down with fans thanks. Hes tried his best but hes wasted here as is any manager.

Id see the club relegated and fans not attend until he has to sell as it bleeds. The club will be left standing long after him but at least fans will come back to support the club when it needs it most as there will be someone down the line will see what they can achieve with the club from whatever league we are in. Fans are the reason the club exists not him. He just unfortunately has the keys at present.

    • Down Under Mag

I dont think he will be hurt financially. He will get parachute payments and assume it will be easy to come straight back up so wont feel the need to sign anyone.

      • gallowgate26

He has a ready made championship squad… the exact same one still that won the championship in 2017!! That’s why I think this January he is even more confident to gamble than usual. He’s turning us into a yoyo club, like West Brom were 10 years ago…and now.

        • Martin Rooney

Plus five players Rafa spent over £40m on in the summer

          • hetonmag

To make a squad up to try and cope in the premier.

      • hetonmag

Exactly right mate he was quoted as saying we’ve been down before and came back so we will do it again, somehow I don’t think it will be that easy if there’s a next time.

        • Martin Rooney

Show the quote that’s just rubbish

          • hetonmag

No it isn’t how the hell can I show you the quote it was something I read after we went down, how can you call it rubbish that’s exactly how Ashley treat’s this club.

      • HarryHype59

£109m minimum for avoiding the drop or £41 parachute money! That’s what happened last time we got relegated in 2016! The difference could be even more next year!

    • Martin Rooney

Maybe his huge, wage will make him want to stay £5m per year higher than juve real Madrid athletic and many much bigger, clubs pay, maybe that and its close proximity to home and that nobody else, wants him at that price will make him want to stay.

  • Whitehurst

Championship next season managed by Mark Hughes then!! Ashley is really a waste of life!!

    • HarryHype59

The odds of that happening are depressingly high!

  • Peaky Magpie

I’m going to bed now and when I wake up I’ll realise this has all been a nightmare……..an eleven year nightmare…..goodnight.

    • Toonrobbybobson

      which will continue

    • nufcslf

And the rest. Groundhog Day comes to mind. Can’t believe he gets away with this sh* t and not a word said at matches.

  • Ben White

Oh look, Mike Ashley has been accused of being a liar. I’m just going to sit here in shock and try and recover from this frankly shocking revelation.

  • Monkseaton Magpies

George from the times should be run out of town a disgrace as his friend Amanda and her cronies. George hates Newcastle and always will do the deal is off. Your next gig at the Irish Centre will be interesting shame I can not be there as you have banned me you are nothing but a Newcastle hater from the Times.

    • Guest 2

If Ashley shat in your bed and screwed your Mrs, you’d blame George for it while bragging about the aroma and the looks of your future kid.
      Brains of a rocking horse.

      • anyobrien

        😂😂

      • HarryHype59

        Funny that! 😂😂😁😅

      • TheFatController

Given he’s either Charnley or Barnes, that’s probably already happened to him…

    • FatParosite

      Go away Mr Barnes.

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

I knew this deal was never going to come off !
It has been a complete lie from day one.

  • Toonrobbybobson

Wonder what happened to that Dubai bid of £350m?

    • gallowgate26

Keith Bishop probably submitted that one with his mobile whilst out shooting grouse.

      • Guest 2

He wants to get down to Monkseaton and put a couple of cartridges into that Muppet posting at the top.

        • anyobrien

          I’m on my way

    • Mitros gotta start

      ^^^^😂😂😂^^^^

    • Guest 2

There wasn’t one. The so called deal was touted by a 27 year old who brags of his connections in China.

      • Mitros gotta start

Come on….thats a bit harsh….he had £273 in the bank

        • Guest 2

And 18 grand of liabilities (debt). Apparently helped broker a deal for …Woking – but the club afterwards said the company did nowt more than make introductions.

        • Phil Yare

          enough to buy diame

      • FatParosite

        Is Toonrobbybobson really that naive?

        • Toonrobbybobson

          ROFL #sarcasm

    • Toonrobbybobson

He now wants deposits made into the fireplace after a chinese buffet whilst half naked before he treats a bid as serious. The curry obviously didnt swing it enough for Staveley.

Refunds will be sports direct gift vouchers.

So sick of this whole thing. End of tether with the club until hes gone. Feel for future generations at how much hes damaging the legacy of the club and how its always been the uniting factor for so many geordies.

Fans have to finally do something.

  • Monkseaton Magpies

George from the Times is a disgrace he hates us full stop and true fans who love the club. He is from a London paper which hates the North East not just but felloe clubs and going back in time the mines the ship yards and any other industries in this area. George and his mate Amanda are not welcome anywhere in Newcastle.

    • Guest 2

He’s more objective and accurate then you are, you Ashley loving toe rag.

    • FatParosite

You’re going to be out of work soon Charnley.

    • Chuck D

Never sensed any hatred from Caulkin. I know someone who does hate the fans!

    • anyobrien

Your off your heed, ya daft [email protected]

      • Peaky Magpie

😂😂😂😂😂 That’s cheered me up first thing this morning seeing as I’m snowed in ❄️❄️❄️

    • anyobrien

I’m from Monkseaton, went to Langley first school, Monkseaton middle then Monkseaton high.. Played football for school, black horse, the beacon and the hunting lodge… Pubs… Still get in them now… My question is who are you I’d love a pint I with ya.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

You know me anyway but go to the Monkseaton Arms at six and ask for the Newcastle fan I will be in but eight tonight as got meeting.

        • anyobrien

There are loads get in the monkey Arms… Lads I know and the don’t talk shyte like you so I’m puzzled as to who you are….. Do you go on guru travel to away games?

        • anyobrien

Do you go on guru’s buses for the away games…. Just most lads who drink in there are Newcastle fans but they talk sense were as you dont…. Just spout jibberish.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Like Clarko, Bobbi Fleckmen and Ghost Rider I speak the truth. With out Ashley we would have been in a worse financial position than Sunderland who are nearly bust and going no where. Be great if some new owners came in and spent hundreds of millions on players but at the moment it’s a pipe dream as Amanda and them could not even afford Liverpool so the future prospects with her lot are bleak. On a brighter note will be on the bus on Saturday same lads go Baldy Kev the bin man Mick etc one hundred strong.

          • anyobrien

I know Kevin and he’s no Ashley lover your a tool mate I’ll be seeing ya soon..

          • anyobrien

            😂 😂

          • anyobrien

I know Kevin just from going to the games and trips in the past…. I’m sure I’ll catch up with you soon…. Should be interesting.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

There will be a pint in the pump for your kind comments.

    • David Craig

I’ve got good friends who are personal friends of George Caulkin and I can tell you, without any shadow of doubt, that he is a Newcastle United fan, through and through. I’m sorry, but being a writer for The Times is no reason to hate Newcastle! You’ve no basis in fact, for your observation.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

The venom he and Luke Edwards spurted out at the Irish Centre
is the basis for my opinion I hate them both for their negative opinions of the club. They even said Mike Ashley had not put a penny in the club and had me thrown out of the venue for sticking up for the club. The man is a disgrace.

    • nufcslf

Neither should fat Cash. He is the filthiest peace of scum to invade NUFC and make it the furthest thing from a football club. Hope he gets his third relegation he is looking for the stupid ignorant c** t

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Most of the fans on here want us relegated as they hate Ashley and the club. Not even sure if many on here even go to matches and support the club. Wanting us to get relegated and become a Coventry, Charlton or even Sunderland sums this disgrace of a site up.

    • GeordieZebra

‘He is from a London paper’… behave. He has the best interests of the club at heart after listening to him numerous times. Can we say the same about Ashley? It’s a rhetorical question, no response needed…

  • magpiefifer

None of us fans know the full story, but I know who I believe more over this fiasco – and it’s not Ashley.
I’ll continue to stay away from SJP until Ashley disappears – or I do!!!!

    • Phil Yare

stay away. otherwise strap yourself in for another decade of misery

    • nufcslf

Going feeds the naka running the show with no reason to change.

  • wheyayeman

ASHLEY OUT !!!! Every fan needs to unite now. You decide either he sets the course of our club or we stand together and force the parasite out of town for good.

    • Toonrobbybobson

Agreed ive had enough. First thing is club is getting none of my money until hes gone. Tough love. Need to swallow some medicine to be rid of the plague. Weve been down so many routes its now got to get tough and serious.

Also some nutters out there. Id be fearful if I was him now. Hes messing with too many peoples pride and passion.

Straw that broke the camels back and all.

  • Phil Yare

when anything comes out of the ashley camp i get the mental image of a huge fat maggot crawling out the ruins of what used to be our beautiful stadium (which has been vandalized to long with those tacky signs associated with tracksuits and other various cheap c**p)

  • TheFatController

Is anyone else wondering why he would release this news?

Does he need to tell the world? Given everyone thought no deal would be done, if any, until the tv deal was announced, why not keep it to himself ?

Now the world, and Rafa, players, fans, opposition, agents, selling clubs etc know we are in crisis and desperate.

So now players won’t want to join, selling clubs will squeeze us on fees, as will agents, the players will fear the fans’ anger, the fans will be angry, and Rafa is undermined…

So yes, Mike, thanks for making it public we’re in meltdown (again) in mid Jan.

    Idiot.

  • Alreet

Come on ash.. do the decent thing for once in your business life and let this so called venture go. Some one wants to buy you out . This is your only exit strategy and you will not get any kind of further profit from the place.

Enough is enough. You tries but failed. It takes a bigger man to step away at the right time. You are way past that but you still need to get out of toon.

  • Mxpx

when we get relegated he’ll be begging her to pay the money she offered right now i’m more inclined to believe mandy than ashley too that there is a viable offer on the table

    • Martin Rooney

If I offer you fifty quid for your ten grand car and say the offer is on the table it doesn’t mean its a viable offer

      • Phil

We are not Manchester United we are Newcastle United. A newly promoted club with a poor squad of players and an even worse academy. The offer is about right.

Yes we get big crowds. So what! Nobody knows the advertising and marketing potential because our current owner hasn’t utilised the club properly. Instead he just blasted sports direct everywhere!

        • Oooh bobbi fleckman

We are not but we are one of the best deals available.

Investors can buy into a WBA, Stoke, Bournemouth and get a premier league team that will eventually fail to stop up. These clubs are in the £200-£250m value now.

They can buy into a genuine big city club like Leeds, Sheffield W for £100 -£150m but need to invest to get promoted and stadium.

They can buy into Everton, a genuine big city club for £300m but they need £500m for a new stadium.

Only Nufc offers a genuine big city club, premier league status and ready made stadium with a price tag of £300-£400m. All the other bigger boys will cost £750m plus.

Of course, the premier league status is the tricky issue.

          • HarryHype59

Without the premier league status the club is worth 60% less. Ask Lerner about Villa! We are 50:50 to go down! As such NUFC are a high risk investment!

          • Oooh bobbi fleckman

            Yes, you are right.

From Ashley’s perspective, he thought £300m was just acceptable given the risks of relegation. PCP thought £250m with a staying up bonus of £50m.

This is a negotiation game, he’s shown a card or two now in that he’s said no deal and will allow players to come in. This is him taking control to keep us up. As it happens, the players to come in will be the same had a deal gone through yesterday.

Get a few points on the board and the deal goes through, if we stay up, the deal is back on in the Summer but I bet Mike wants more money in the Summer.

      • HarryHype59

We are no longer an established EPL side and are 50:50 to go down! That makes an extremely high risk investment! Without the TV money the club is worth 60% less!

      • GeordieZebra

Fifty quid for a £10k car? She hasn’t. The offer is circa £8.5k for a £10k car with apparent add ons. To pay the balance, you’d want an assurance the car runs next year like it does this. Decent analogy but the numbers need to be representative.

  • East Durham Mag

An entire decade wasted under Fatty. He is disgusting. Anyone happy with this situation is a total fool.

  • Martin Rooney

The times owned by Murdoch as,is,sky I don’t understand how people think culkin and the times are any different an animal. One things for sure Amanda doesn’t have the cash to invest heavily in players and hasn’t made any movement on her initial derisory bid. If anyone, really thought there was going to be some sort of new dawn from PCP it must surely have been during a night high on angel dust.

    • TheNutJob

      you could well be right

  • 1957

I mentioned a few weeks ago, my business journalist relation in London said there was an offer, but the relegation issue remained a stumbling block. PCP’s offer included an additional sum only if we stay up at the end of this season, Ashley wanted the additional sum paid the next time we were confirmed as a PL side be that next year or in 10 years time.

Mike’s side being a little economical with the truth perhaps

    • TheNutJob

That condition seems fair enough as he was never going to accept £250m.
in the premiership Newcastle are worth a lot more than that

      • HarryHype59

The key words are “in the premiership’.

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

We are in the Premiership & i expect we will be next season

          • HarryHype59

If the club survives it will be by very narrow margins! We are 50:50 to go down as the home form is diabolical! If the teams below us strengthen, relegation is high on certain!

    • Oooh bobbi fleckman

I think both sides are being economical with the truth. My info was the same as yours, deal all but agreed until we slid in the table and relegation became an issue. £300m was on the low end of MA’s valuation.but £50m being withheld even if MA was not making decisions was not acceptable.

If we stop up, the deal will be back on but MA may just feel that de-risked, the club is worth more.

  • fistsofsteel2

Considering the state of the club – in terms of the poor quality of players, the academy, etc, and the investment that would be needed to turn that around, £250 – 300million seems like a reasonable offer.

Ashley is deluded if he thinks anybody will offer any more. If anybody was going to they would have done so by now.

Alas it looks like we’re stuck with the Fat Controller and a poor squad with only the possibility of more substandard £5 – 10 million signings to come.

    • TheNutJob

He`s had his lads value the club, she`s had hers, the gap at the moment seems to be £50m. He`s not going to sell for what he paid for it, more so with a new Tv contract due in a matter of weeks

  • robbersdog

As much as I dislike Ashley, I can’t help feeling that he’s been mugged off by Amanda Staveley. I think she knew all along that her initial bid would not be accepted, but she’s used the situation to generate significant amounts of publicity for herself and her fund.

She’s history and we, as fans, need to move on and get behind the team and the manager.

    • Wor Lass

She`s hardly generated the sort of publicity she would want so far. She`s been done up like a kipper.

  • TheNutJob

In the movies the bad guy always loses, Mike`s an exception to the case.
he always seems to win. the nightmare on Barrack rd continues with no end in sight, only an exorcism will rid us of the son of Satan
    😈😈

    • Leazes

      We live in strange times.

  • Desree

B0ll0x – this reminds me of the story I heard abput a young Mike Ashley and his cricket rules. As it was his bat, if he got out he went home takibg his bat with him and ending the game for everyone.

    Two things happening here.

Holding out for the new tv deal announcement

    Praying the club isn’t relegated.

The biggest gambler in the UK is this lad!

    • Vladimir Biggski

The whole season for Mike is a gamble on Rafa and abuse of his integrity. Ashley is a complete tyrant.

    • Leazes

He cant put TV money in his pocket, it belongs to the club….. its not Ashley appearance money, he never appears.

If he was driven with desire to make money from Newcastle he would have put us in Europe, embarked on a charm offensive to up merchandising and maybe sell it as a going concern after having some fun playing fantasy football.

Ashleys aim has always been to put the club onto hibernation, the appointments of Wise and Kinnear of the Wimbledon Crazy gang…. they showed how a club with no fans could survive for a few years on a shoestring. Kinnear was a bully, you can motivate with bullying for a while, any players who stood up to the regime were shipped out.

Ashley laid down the law from the start…. with United he’s not motivated by money but by hatred.

His shops are still doing business on Tyneside…. How after ten years of this nonsense are they still getting customers?

      • Cockneytrev

I also don’t understand why people still go into his shops, it’s incredible, there should be a total boycott,,

  • Damon Horner

I was disappointed. When it said in the headline they’ve “hit back” I was hoping it was full in the face with a shovel… Repeatedly.

    • Vladimir Biggski

They will be muted by non disclosure

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Never underestimate your opponent, Mandy did

    • Leazes

I don’t think she did. Ashley hasn’t won anything.

  • LEE

just from the bits i have read on here and else where, i always felt it was like a hostile takeover, of the offer was 250 then i believe it’s pcp at fault trying to use us the fans as leverage knowing our hate for the guy might help sway it.
Rafa might be backed now, but i don’t expect him to last long, he was clearly in the pcp camp.

    Ashley demands loyalty

    • GeordieZebra

How can it be hostile when we were put up for sale, a bid has been made with conditions admittedly, and Ashley has rejected it. We are worth what somebody will pay. Currently, we aren’t worth what he wants as nobody has satisfied the amount. Do fear your Rafa comment, as that’s inevitable but it’ll be Rafa who walks before Ashley sacks him.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

Liverpool & Spurs have valued themselves at 1 billion, yes they have the players but are they worth 750m more than Nufc
I think not. 250m isnt enough

        • GeordieZebra

He’ll likely sell for £300m so the comparison is irrelevant. Look at their trophies, premier league security and squads. They could sell 4 players and generate £250m. Our squad wouldn’t generate that selling 25 of them.

If we were a bargain, we’d have been bought. We haven’t.

All about egos now and the more it’s in the public domain, the longer we’re stuck with this chancer who is sucking the life out of the club we love.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

he`s not selling for £250m, end of story

          • GeordieZebra

He’s sell for £300m though which he’ll likely get if (big if) we stay up.

        • Vladimir Biggski

£250 is enough when you consider that our best player is valued at £12m by other clubs, our strikers are wanted by 2nd tier clubs, we are likely to get relegated, and the only thing keeping us together is a world class manager who is being deliberately undermined at every opportunity.

As a football club it is worth less than when fat Mike bought it.

          • HarryHype59

Too true, NUFC were an established EPL club when he bought us in 2007! Now we are newly promoted relegation fodder!

        • fistsofsteel2

Look at the cost of Liverpool players in today’s market -£20-100million……Newcastle players – £5-10million.
And then the cost to a new owner of buying quality players at Newcastle to make the club genuine top five contenders.
I think the difference between us and those other teams is about right…….Spurs could probably demand£200million for Kane alone……at a push our best player might get us £20million

        • HarryHype59

They are established EPL sides playing Champion’s league football! The value of the best player at each club is worth more than our entire squad!

        • anyobrien

Then reject it in the first week… It’s simple stuff
          “no not enough deal off”
          Look at that easy
It boils down to fatty and the TV money he’s seen it and wants it this could of been resolved months ago but the man is a idiot.

          • Cockneytrev

Exactly, he had the offer in November, if it’s not enough, reject it, there was no need to drag it out until January,,
What other club even announces it’s for sale? What other club has chairman who, make tv announcements, (most fans don’t even know what their chairman looks like,)
when he arrived a the club, it was said he was a private man,, what a joke!!! He’s never been out of the news for one thing or another and SD is always mentioned.
this whole saga is all more free publicity,,

      • Viru leckworth

Ashley won’t be bothered if Rafa walks as he can get in another yes man. If he does the supporters should walk away too.

    • Leazes

A hostile takeover is when an individual tries to buy a controlling amount of shares against the wishes of a board representing the other shareholders.

I felt that this was a stunt by Ashley to draw out a genuine buyer which failed. PCP are no more than a paper company owned solely by Amanda Staveley.

Why would Ashley do such a thing? …. Well he’s been stringing fans and managers along for ten years, whilst downsizing the club and hiving off land to the extent of killing the clubs future. We are a Championship side playing in the Premiership with a decent manager….. He’s doing this because he wants to, he likes harming the club.

Ashley is a malevolent narcissist, him nasty man.

Not so much loyalty as obedience.

    • anyobrien

Unbelievable….they put up for sale ya moron.
Wtf are people on.. Do you want to buy my club
      Yes
      How much?
      We’ll give you 250…million
      No thanks not enough.

Jesus that’s hostile stuff that.. Scary eh

    • magpiefifer

      It’s called negotiation!!!

    • Cockneytrev

What’s hostile about offering 250 mil , with clauses?

  • Vladimir Biggski

This alleged takeover was never going to happen. Mike ashleys valuation of the club will always be £100m higher than anyone buying the club as that is the difference between someone (Ashley) who is looking to pocket the tv money and any buyer looking to invest that money into the team. This was always going to be used as the excuse not to spend any money in this transfer window, and when Rafa leaves, this will be used as the excuse for relegation.

If we go down Ashley pockets £100m. If we stay up Ashley pockets this years tv money and next, ie £200m.

He is playing us like he always does.

  • Vladimir Biggski

We are destined to be a yo-yo club until Ashley has had his fill, at which point he will run it into the ground.

We need to get that fat [email protected] out of the club as soon as possible.

He has already pocketed a lot more than he has ever spent on the club. If we go down, he will have a modest gamble on promotion but if that fails I fully expect that one day he will take the balloon payment, claim financial crisis, sell off the remaining players worth selling and write us off heading for league 1.

Seems to be what is now happening to Sunderland, their owner is taking the balloon payments to cover his loses and then he will write the rest off. They are ruined, and we will easily follow with Mike ashleys continued involvement.

Trust Clarko to go AWOL just when we needed it all explained. My take is that the barrow boy is still pulling tricks. Saturday`s result and performance have proven that relegation is 50-50 at the minute. He doesn`t want to conclude a deal in that weakened position so he blows everything out of the water, lets Rafa have a few bob to keep him and the fans quiet for a few weeks and scrape into 17th place or better. Then he can restart negotiations with a stronger hand. He was never going to accept less than £300 mill – unconditional. He`s a cockroach and knows how to scuttle for cover in any terrain.

    • MadMag83

I believe Clarko is busy having an oral enema.

    • HarryHype59

      Who, Clarko or Ashley?

      • Wor Lass

Ha ha – take your pick!

  • MadMag83

Poor Big Mike, always the victim. Those scumbag NUFC fans always on his back, and now Staveley & co are undervaluing the club! Yes those fans he has repeatedly walked all over, and that same football club he has used to promote his dodgy Sports Direct empire, whilst selling it’s star players and under investing.

Is it really any surprise to him that Staveley & co don’t value the business when he treats it with utter contempt?

  • Mr wobert

It seems to me that fatty has no need to sell ,he’s in a win win situation he doesn’t need to sell or am I missing something..?
