Alan Shearer with (his latest) warning for Mike Ashley

Alan Shearer has yet another warning for Mike Ashley.

As Newcastle build up to a crucial game against arguably the best team in Europe, rather than adding points in the fight against relegation, all the talk has been about what is or isn’t happening off the pitch.

Alan Shearer says that ‘it doesn’t look like the Newcastle takeover will happen’.

At his press conference earlier today, Rafa Benitez said that some weeks ago Mike Ashley told him there would be no takeover happening in the near future.

The United boss though did indicate that transfer targets had been agreed with the club’s owner and that he was waiting to see if the club gets the deals over the line.

With Newcastle only three points above the relegation zone, things are surely set to look at least a little bit worse after playing Manchester City.

Alan Shearer says that he doesn’t know what promises Ashley has made to Rafa Benitez but if ‘transfer funds aren’t made available’, then the Newcastle legend believes ‘Rafa will quite rightly be considering his future at Newcastle United’.

With transfer promises in January 2017 and Summer 2017 not kept by Mike Ashley, what will Rafa do if it is third time unlucky?

Alan Shearer talking to Coral:

“It doesn’t look like the Newcastle takeover will happen.

“If it is off then that is very disappointing and if Mike Ashley doesn’t invest some money now in this transfer window. it is going to be a very tough battle for survival in the Premier League.

“This will again raise question marks over Rafa Benitez’ future.

“We don’t know what promises he has been given but I really do feel that if transfer funds aren’t made available, then Rafa will quite rightly be considering his future at Newcastle United.

“That would be a disaster in my opinion.

“They are in a relegation battle and it was always going to be a long hard season, which is why they need to free up some funds, and give them the best opportunity to stay up with Rafa in charge.”
