Dennis Wise speaking up on behalf of Mike Ashley, that’s no surprise.

Also, no surprise that it is Sky Sports giving him the platform to do so.

The fact Sky Sports work so closely with Mike Ashley is just so toxic for Newcastle fans, the final insult really when this is now the main way many football fans follow what is happening in the game, and sadly, form their opinions.

Dennis Wise has zero integrity or respect when it comes to talking about Newcastle United.

Kevin Keegan was told by Mike Ashley when he was appointed manager (for the second time) in 2008, that he would be in control and have the final say on all transfers.

Shortly afterwards Dennis Wise was appointed as ‘Executive Director of Football’ at Newcastle United, Keegan though reassured that this changed nothing with regard to his position/authority.

That all proved to be lies as Mike Ashley had appointed Dennis Wise above Kevin Keegan and when the summer 2008 transfer window kicked in, that became 100% apparent to KK.

He made it to the end of that transfer window hoping Mike Ashley would see sense and come good on his transfer promises (where have we heard that before…), only for nothing to change.

Keegan rightly walked out as he could no longer work with Dennis Wise and Mike Ashley, a court hearing later awarded Kevin Keegan £2m for constructive dismissal, having found that Ashley and his minions had constantly lied to him.

Now in the eleventh year of Mike Ashley’s rule, on Wednesday night Dennis Wise yet again tried to tell us that Ashley is only interested in what is good for Newcastle United.

It is really laughable but Wise talks of Ashley putting ‘money into that football club when it had quite a bit of debt’, as though he was a knight in shining armour coming to save some charitable concern.

Any money paid was just like any other business he has bought, it is for his own benefit, not for the benefit of anybody else. Just look at how he treats most of the staff at businesses he ‘saves’.

Dennis Wise says Mike Ashley won’t sell Newcastle United to just ‘anyone’.

Reality of course is that just as John Hall and Freddie Shepherd did, they don’t care who buys Newcastle United just so long as they give them enough money.

Of course we could all be proved wrong and tomorrow could wake up to headline news that Mike Ashley has sold the club for a pound to a syndicate of dedicated Newcastle fans, cute puppies and orphans, but that is difficult to believe, the same as anything that comes out of the mouth of Dennis Wise.

Dennis Wise speaking to Sky Sports:

“People have to realise what Mike Ashley is about…and I don’t think they do.

“He won’t allow that football club to go to (just) anyone.

“I think he wants to know that the next person who takes over that football club is going to take it forward.

“He could probably do a deal with someone really cheaply, get rid of it, get rid of the hassle that he gets time after time, or he can make sure that it goes to someone who he thinks will move that football club forward.

“That’s Mike for you, he’s that type of person.

“You have to realise he put money into that football club when it had quite a bit of debt, I think a quarter of a billion pounds he put into that football club to make sure there was no debt and buy it.

“He put his money where his mouth is there, he runs it in a structured manner because he doesn’t want the football club to get in the same situation as it did before, where it owes money.

“The fans don’t accept him, he knows that, but one thing he will not do is allow that football club to go to someone he doesn’t think will be able to take that forward.”

There’s nothing more we can say any more.

    • Peaky Magpie

I can say plenty mate but a lifetime worldwide ban on all social media would follow !

  • Damon Horner

Thank you Mike. From the bottom of our hearts. Saved us from relegation, mercenaries and public embarrassment. You have shown nothing but respect to those associated with the club and despite all this and the financial hardship you’ve endured, we don’t love you as much as we should.

  • grantham mag

    Could be our next manager after Raffa walks at the end of the season, remember he is a good pal of Ant and Dec, oh and he’s a very small man. { Bellamy as his no 2. }
It would not surprise me, after 11 years of dross it can only get.

          • Damon Horner

Without doubt. The question is how was Ashley posing in the photo?

          • MP01

Damon, i typed two responses, both of which i wont post as it might put you off your breakfast!!

          • East Durham Mag

  • Spider

He’s run it in a structured manner 😂😂😂😂that’s why we are subject to a tax fraud investigation, get real wise and keep your nose out of something you know nowt about.

    • Guest 2

Aye, so structured that the club now owes 144 mil to Ashley, which will be entirely repaid to him if a sale ever happens. Never mind the 29 mil he has also repaid himself.

  • Phil

We have an owner who admits he can’t compete. I don’t mean with man city before anybody pipes up!!

    We have a championship squad.

And we play Manchester city at the weekend!!

But it’s ok. Dennis wise. The guy who eats the private parts of exotic wild life. He says Mike has our best interests at heart. That’s reassuring at least!! 🐊🕷🐛

I think it shows how biased he is the way he kept referring to us as THAT football club. Funny how a lot of the people Ashley employed go on to do… Nothing! Dennis wise and joke kinnear being prime examples.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    • Kneebotherm8

      Is that a gonorrhoea?…..

      • Peaky Magpie

        😂😂😂

  • HarryHype59

Perhaps the diminutive Wise feels guilty about wasting £21m of Ashley’s (NUFCs) money on the uber flop Xisco! He has got to be one of the worst NUFC signings ever!

    No wonder KK walked!

    • Tony Mann

Nowt wrong with Xisco, He filled that space of the only toon player who’s name begins with ‘X’.

  • Peaky Magpie

Beardsley will be up defending him next, that’ll be something to look forward to……”eerrrrrrrrr obviously, errrrrrrrrr obviously”……..had enough of the whole f*****g lot of them me,what’s the collective name for a load of c***s ?????

    • Tony Mann

The collective term, I am led to believe, is an ‘Ashley’.

      • Peaky Magpie

        😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Back in the real world Swansea are about to bid £34m for a striker

    • Peaky Magpie

      Hoss ????

  • Monkseaton Magpies

The problem is it’s not just Dennis Wise who thinks the same most of football regards Newcastle fans as restless natives who are always protesting. They protested against the great Bobby Robson when we finished fifth. The protests against Alan Pardew with leaflets vans’ were sickening against a man who finished fifth and got manager of the year. The fans hated Souness, McClaren, Alladyce were not at all keen on Roeder with the taxi for Roeder campaign the list is endless.
Most of the country regard us as morons and ungrateful. Perhaps Coventry and Charlton can give us a run for our money but we are world champions at protesting always have been always will be. That’s why there is never any stability at the club and we never win anything as it’s always protests against the manager or the chairman sometimes both. We are a laughing stock in many peoples eyes.

    • Phil

People can think what they want. The only bit I agree with in what you say is that it is a disgrace that some wanted sir Bobby out. I don’t remember any protests though!

      Do you support NUFC?

      • Guest 2

He suggests he’s out No.1 fan! Not quite sure he can tie his shoes in the morning though.

        • Cockneytrev

But the glass keeps his tongue nice and cool!!!

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Yes will be there on Saturday. What happened was twenty five thousand fans walked out after the game against Wolves before Bobby led the players round the field on a lap of honour and he said what I have done wrong we finished fifth.

    • hetonmag

So we have stability with Ashley owning the club, just wondering have you been in bubble for the last decade of his ownership.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

While he has been here the fans have wanted several managers out and most were not happy when Houghton got the job.

        • hetonmag

Sorry but that is utter rubbish the only person 99-9% want out is the scumbag that is ruining this great club.

          • TheFatController

I don’t think he’s getting the ‘cause and effect’ of many Ashley managers not being popular with the fans …

        • Tony Mann

          Who’s Houghton?

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Take it you must spend most of your time in the libiary or doing crosswords. Still better than most on this site who play computer games go train spotting and wait for this one Guest 2 likes vintage cars a sad site for sad people.

          • Tony Mann

I do not spend most of my time in a ‘libiary’ as I don’t know what a ‘libiary’ is. I assume you mean LIBRARY – Are you losing the ability to spell again?
Nowt wrong with vintage cars – I own one – well, not really vintage, just ancient actually.
You didn’t answer my question – who is Houghton?
Unless you’re referring to Chris HUGHTON, and your spelling inadequacy is showing through again.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

A lot wrong with people whose main interest is cars and not football and people who spend their lives watching countdown and doing crosswords sound familar

          • Tony Mann

No, it doesn’t sound familiar as I do not watch Countdown, do crosswords, or have an interest in cars.
I do, however, have a grasp of the English language, hence, I am generally able to spell correctly and formulate a sentence with correct punctuation.
I can also spell my own name (without assistance) unlike yourself.
I assume that you did not do too well at school.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

This is a site about Newcastle not being at school you are a very said man with an extra N get a life if some one can not spell so what just support the club but like most people on here not much chance of that. Count down on at four thirty good luck.

          • Tony Mann

What is a ‘said’ man ?
            Are you English?
It appears you cannot speak or write the language properly.
If this is the effect of education cuts, I despair of this country never mind my club.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

It s a typo get back to watching the egg heads probably your mate on here the one who likes vintage cars.

    • FatParosite

We are not world champions at protesting Keith…. Otherwise the SJP would be empty & Ashley would not be here.

      • Kneebotherm8

Hull City were much better than us……..they DID empty their stadium in protests against their owner…

        • Mitros gotta start

          Did it work?

          • Kneebotherm8

Did the protest work?…………that wasn’t the question was it?…………their protest was better than ours, that’s the point in question,we’re lambs to the slaughter, the Hull lot put up a fight……..Cardiff fans did the same over the shirt colour change……going down without a whimper is not an option………letting your owner know you’re not happy with his actions is a must.

    • TheFatController

Why were there no protests against Keegan, hughton. Rafa then?

      End of argument.

      • East Durham Mag

        Short and succinct. Totally true.

        • TheFatController

Well, looking at the replies, he’s probably showing his Mum right now how much influence over people he still has in life.

She’s 85 and he’s 65. And is taking her Mills and Boon back to the library soon…

          • Monkseaton Magpies

My mum died after the Chelsea game won two nil Tiote scored then her machine was switched off on the final whistle to give me time to say goodbye but they waited till the match was over so thanks for that.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

After a two nil defeat at Arsenal many fans rang radio stations wanting Keegan sacked. You only have to read many posts on this site of people wanting Rafa sacked for his negative defensive football not just one but quite a few. A lot of fans or most were very happy when Houghton was appointed.

        • TheFatController

Quite a few out of 250k is not a representative sample.

Now, you type that it is, and I’m a moron.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Despite being called some great names I have never called anyone any names. What I said is the press and many of the supporters up and down the country regard us as morons.

          • FatParosite

You call people morons all the time Kieth.

      • ghostrider

        Keegan walked……TWICE.
Hughton was sacked, unfairly in my opinion but would have suffered the abuse sooner or later.
Rafa is riding on a fantasy of the world class manager tag and has been put on a messiah pedestal by many fans.
If Ashley doesn’t sack him soon or he walks, soon, then the fans will turn on him….but in this case it will be rightly so.

        • TheFatController

don’t you ever stop? The NHS offer six free counseling sessions. Bit of a waiting list, but some day you’ll need to sort yourself out surely?

          • ghostrider

I’m fine but one day if you get your Ashley out wish and new owners send this club into melt down, then you’ll be begging for an owner like Mike Ashley with his careful approach…..BUT…..you’ll never admit to that and would most likely see the club die than ever admit anything like that.
Cutting your nose, ears and eyes off/out, to spite your face.

        • Kneebotherm8

He’s not the messiah………….and you’re a very naughty boy to suggest he is…..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • Guest 2

Regarded as morons because of utter coconuts like yourself.

Ashley has ruined this club and morons like you, Wise and the very partisan Sky help perpetuate his lies.

All Ashley has done is saved himself paying initial interest on old debts when he took over. The club now has significantly more debt (144 mil) than when he arrived; He consistently refuses to invest in the club and has in fact profited from club assets such as the Gallowgate land, training ground etc etc.

The club has a net player spend of only 26 mil for the decade fatso has owned the club – and that is all the information anyone needs to assess what ‘investment’ he has brought.

      • hetonmag

Had to laugh at your first sentence 😀😀😀.

        • Kneebotherm8

          An Utter coconut?………………nice one ………..😂😂😂😂😂

          • hetonmag

At least we can have something to chuckle about at this depressing time.😀😀😀😀

          • Peaky Magpie

Hang on another couple of days mate there’ll be plenty to laugh about when we see the two teams lining up in the tunnel on Saturday 😳😳😳

          • hetonmag

            We live in hope.

          • Peaky Magpie

            🤞🤞🤞

      • ghostrider

Ashley hasn’t ruined this club. He’s actually saved the club from a fate worse than death but people can’t seem to see it for the hatred they have of him that was all started by the dummy spitting Keegan.

        • TheFatController

          Troll

        • HarryHype59

Will a highly probable third relegation, finally make you Ashpologists grasp that he is a terrible owner!

BTW are you related to Clarko?

          • FatParosite

            It’s Keith…

          • ghostrider

He’s afar from a terrible owner.
He’s a terrible santa claus for fans wanting trophy signings, I do agree to that.
We are lucky to have him in many respects, because this club would be dead or dying as it stands had he not taken over when he did.

    • Phil

Monkseaton has metro links I’m sure. Maybe you could get on one heading for the airport. Buy a one way ticket to let’s say I dont know… Afghanistan?

Once you arrive flag a taxi. Ask him to drive you to the mountains. Set up camp and live happily ever after!

Wifi will be non existent and the only people who will have to listen to your drivel will be goat shepherds and terrorists!!

If you need help in financing this move im sure a few of us on here will chip in!

      • TheFatController

What have terrorists done to deserve Monkseaton M…?

        • Phil

I know. But no vacancies left in government and Donald trump has all of his staff in place. So terrorists were the next ones up on the list!

          • TheFatController

Two minutes with MM and his love-in of Ashley and they’ll all be self-detonating…

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Sorry to disappoint but off to Man City on Saturday then Chelsea and Palace the two following Sundays so will not be able to fit it in.
Sure that some of the people on here love the protests which have continually ruined the club over the last fifty years.

        • Phil

          Aye I bet you are!!

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Coach Man City, plane Chelsea and train Palace so Afghanistan will have to wait.

        • TheFatController

I despair for those sat either side of you on Saturday …

          • Monkseaton Magpies

So would I if they start singing anti Newcastle songs during the game.

          • TheFatController

Are you the big tough guy to sort them out? Get over yourself, you’re overweight and never go out…

    • Cockneytrev

Some people might have wanted Robson out (not me) but only one person had his photos thrown in a skip,,
      You Ashley hoop licker,,👅

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Twenty five thousand walked out on him not one or two or half a dozen that got him sacked. Those fans should hang their heads in shame and nothing to do with Ashley although this site will give him the blame.

        • Cockneytrev

Was that just over 25 thousand? Or just under?
They didn’t have his photos thrown in the skip,,
          Hoop licker,,👅

          • Monkseaton Magpies

The crowd was 52,139 but over half left for the lap of honour leaving Bobby devastated an his job on the line went four games later in the new season. What happened to Amadas purse did she lose it over Christmas.

          • Cockneytrev

Who had Sir Bobbys photos thrown in the skip?
            You hoop licker,,👅,,

        • Tony Mann

I dislike your atitude (a lot) from your Ashbot licking posts – HOWEVER – I agree totally – The shameful treatment of SBR was worse than disgusting. As a set of fans, we forgot where we came from – much like some Man City ‘fans’ now. Nothing to do with MA – but that doesn’t change what he’s doing to this club, his business, his toy, his plaything, MY JOY.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

I dislike this site the protests over the last fifty years I love our club and backed them all over the world was one of the seventy two in Moscow the people on this site who have a go all the time are not supporters

          • Tony Mann

How much have you had to drink?

  • FatParosite

Every point made by Wise & Bellemy unchallenged by SSN’s lump mallet Shreeves. The Murdock lies factory enjoys cronyism & perpetrating cynical myths for it’s friends. Wise is intellectual plankton so I have always dismissed that jailbird, even before he poisoned our club. Bellend’s cretinous appraisal of the Ashley years beggars belief. I listened to it whilst out walking & let out a side splitting laugh when I heard Shreeves use the word “Integrity” in the same sentence as Ashley.

    • Phil

Yeah I thought it seemed very one sided for a show called ‘the DEBATE’

Wise did well to give the interview though. His mouth is usually occupied by Ashley’s Johnson!

As for that sheep loving, large gummed dwarf Bellamy! He is a waste of oxygen

    • Kneebotherm8

It was like the Mike Ashley mutual appreciation society.

  • TheFatController

It’s all about context. Which is what a good interviewer does when the interviewee uses selective facts;-

    – Mike Ashley paying £130m and putting in £120m loans isn’t a huge amount in modern football. £50m of those loans cover losses made in his time at the club, mainly the two relegations and subsequent loss of tv revenues
    – nothing has been invested in infrastructure such as playing staff, youth, scouting, commercial revenue staff – we break even or minimise in each area
    – he bought it to sell it is the reason only the bare minimum is invested. He’s relying on football PL inflation being way ahead of interest rates and normal inflation to make money from the sale of the club

So he is not a saviour – he is simply someone who has taken the club backwards in football’s boom period because he can’t sell it for a huge profit.

Why? Because investors realize that for all football’s boom, you still have to invest and progress – hence no bidders.

Take Mansour, bought City for £165m, now worth £2.1bn on the back of £1.5bn investment.

Ashley has simply covered debt to realize it back with huge interest when he sells. That was a gamble. If no one will pay £300m, it’s a gamble that failed. That shouldn’t be the club’s problem but the FA have failed us.

    • Cockneytrev

When he first bought the club, a friend of mine had a box, after a match he came down and joined them, for a drink, he was drunk and he told one of the lads there that he had bought the club to sell and would make £30mil.
If this was another one of his lies I don’t know , but this was when he was in his honeymoon period, drinking with whoever he could,,

      • TheFatController

It’s been reported that he had another buyer lined up already when he bought it. Hence the quick turnaround.

Then he also had another (eastern) buyer lined up, who wanted Keegan, so the report goes. That’s why he dumped Allardyce and took Keegan on allegedly.

Being a fair man, I do see the good things he does, and dumping Allardyce is filed under ‘good things’. Slim file though …

  • Dillon Tovak

    🙄 🤦‍♂️ shameless really.

  • Kneebotherm8

Hot off the press…….JFK is appearing on sky sports news later today to back up what (un)Wise has been saying about Fat Mike………..

    • TheFatController

I don’t think Ashley asking Sky to influence people’s opinion of him by giving screen time to his cronies is going to change the universally held opinion of him as a terrible man.

But good attempt Mike. At least we now know you’re sensitive to criticism…

      • Kneebotherm8

        Only a joke mate……………..that scenario could never happen……………could it?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

        • TheFatController

I gathered, but the Wise interview was part of him protecting his hugely fragile ego at a time of mass criticism of him as a man and as an owner.

I love that whilst politicians happily bring Ashley to task on employment practices, sky support him in his HMRC and two court case defeats era in charge of us.

It’s come to something when politicians have a stronger moral compass than sky…

          • Kneebotherm8

Politicians have always had a stronger moral compass than sky and always will,Ashley was a disgrace in his total attempted contempt of the parliamentary committee investigating the dire working practices at his shirebrook workhouse.
The man is one hugely manipulative individual.

          • TheFatController

            And one huge individual too…

          • Kneebotherm8

            Very……….

  • Guest 2

Seriously, man, it’s about time we all started giving Sky some stick for being so blatantly biased in Ashley’s favour. Shocking how they are the mouthpiece for his propaganda and do not critically challenge any of this nonsense.

    • TheFatController

I am sure most people just see odious Ashley people talking rubbish, it’s not as though they’re trotting our Thierry Henry or rio Ferdinand who people can be influenced by due to the respect they command in the game…

  • Kneebotherm8

Just a pity they were able to get him out the Jungle…………………they should have left the little twt there……

Oh what a surprise. A Sky Sports ‘debate’ where Ashley is painted as some sort of saviour and we’re painted as ungrateful thickos who ‘just don’t understand’. I support Rafa and the lads and daily wish for our owner and his bought and paid for sycophants to keel over. After all, it’s happy thoughts that keep us young!

  • Peaky Magpie

2 days to go before Rafa’s proposed transfer deadline……….we are waiting Penfold……….

  • Waxi

This is our big problem though as Wise will be telling the fat man what to do all the time and we end up getting nothing. Ashley has got loads of old football players coaches hangers on who will gain a pint or two down the Nags Head to give him [email protected] information. How the man is still in business is beyond me.

  • robbersdog

“The fans don’t accept him, he knows that, but one thing he will not do is allow that football club to go to someone he doesn’t think will be able to take that forward.”

What a load of rubbish. Ashley would sell the club to a bunch of ISIS terrorists or the Yorkshire Ripper if they offered him £350m.

    • TheFatController

Yes. Expect this deflection tactic trotted out now, not pointing the finger at PCP as not good enough directly but inferring it, like Mike’s the brave protector of the good SD, sorry, my mistake, NUFC heritage …

    • Kneebotherm8

Absolutely correct,it’s all about the Money, money, money………

    • Cockneytrev

      👌👌👌👌

  • thewildchimp

Well, nothing really surprising, knowing that they consider us only as tools. They rile us a bit with something like this and angry Geordies start clicking the headlines, talking about them and thus: making them money. Best to ignore them, then they’ll stop.

  • Dave Pattinson

Ah, I’ve been so wrong in my judgement of Ashley all these yrs. Thanks for putting me right Dennis, you lovable little Cockney rascal! How could I have doubted that Assley really cares about the club and its supporters? Slap my legs nurse , I’m a naughty boy.

  • Peaky Magpie

Oh dear Rafa I think you might have put your foot in it…..Fatso & Penfold actually do now believe that the transfer window closes on the 20th January…..

  • I was always prepared to bank roll Newcastle up to the tune of £20 million per year but no more. That was my bargain. I would make the club solvent. I would make it a going concern. I would pour up to £20 million a year into the club and not expect anything back.

    • Tony Mann

You’re a smashin fella you Mike. Can you introduce me to Bobby Moncur cos he was my hero in the sixties. Not so much now mind cos he’s turned out to be a bit of a [email protected] But…moving on….when did Dennis wise ‘Wisey’ to his mates… if he’s got any apart from you….become part of your defense league?

  • kingfisher

I wouldn’t trust the Corpulent Cockney Conman and the Munchkin Hobbit as far as I could throw them which to be fair, would be quite a distance in wor Dennis’s case.I would rather spit roast my kahunas over an open fire, than believe anything the poisonous pair of p***ks come out with.At least the original Little and Large were quite likeable as opposed to these two oafish buffoons😬😬😬!

    • Blackburn1066

Get in! Love it the little C-nt

  • Cockneytrev

If you watch the SD promo video on YouTube, it is packed with pundits from every TV channel, talkSPORT etc, it’s hardly surprising no one speaks out against him, they have been employed by him in one shape or form,,
Sky don’t want to loose his advertising so never bad mouth him,,,it’s left to social media and that doesn’t have the same effect…

    • TheFatController

Did those promo video pundits have to do the 5 minute stay-behind search of their bags before they went home?

One rule for some, another for the rest I’ll wager …

  • Haitchdee

Had to take a break from reading some of the comments guys, My sides are aching. Really funny stuff amidst some dross .keep it up.

  • 8prestondave

Admin, you have deleted my comment on this. Why.??It wasn’t disrespectful or nasty.

    • Tony Mann

      ‘Ashleygate’

  • Stephen Paylor

was so annoying watching him talk, he seemed like he was nervous and he knew deep down he was talking shixe. Worm of a man.

  • magpiefifer

I’ve had enough of Sky – my sub is going into the bin!
Sick and tired of their unbalanced coverage of NUFC,and their use of useless pundits.

  • Dillon Tovak

I wonder how many times Wise has been on The Debate before?
    I’d guess, not many.
    So why now? Hmmmm?
Why are Sky seemingly complicit in the great Mike Ashley scandal?
    Terrible!!
