The latest Sky Sports Power Rankings have been published.

The Power Rankings methodology reflects a player’s performance over the last five Premier League matchdays by awarding points to players for 32 different stats.

A heavier weighting is given to the most recent match in descending order to the fifth last one, with the intention of showing who is most in form.

After the round of matches which included Newcastle’s 1-0 win at Stoke, the rankings have now been updated, with two Newcastle players making the top 32 of the 50 highest placed list.

Newcastle’s last five PL games have been (working backwards) Stoke 0 Newcastle 1, Newcastle 0 Brighton 0, Newcastle 0, Man City 1, West Ham 2 Newcastle 3 and Arsenal 1 Newcastle 0.

Karl Darlow is rated at number 25 in these latest power rankings, even though he has played only two of those last five Newcastle matches. The keeper did though keep clean sheets against both Stoke and Brighton, plus they were also the last two matches to be played.

At number 32 we have Jamaal Lascelles in the rankings, he actually played all five games and the clean sheets will also have figured large for him, plus the other three games saw only one goal conceded against both Arsenal and Man City, with two at West Ham. However, in all five games he won a lot of tackles and headers to also boost is score.

Newcastle now face Swansea in four days time and another clean sheet for Karl Darlow would likely propel the Newcastle keeper into the Sky Sports power rankings top 10 AND more importantly, be a major cog in what would very likely be another invaluable three points.
