Which 11 players would you pick in the Newcastle team v Chelsea for Sunday?

We have put together a list of the 25 players who could potentially be selected on Sunday afternoon.

Rafa Benitez indicated on Friday that Jesus Gamez is the only player definitely ruled out through injury.

However, he did refer to a few others carrying minor knocks, which will also go into the mix as well as the fact Newcastle have an important Premier League match on Wednesday night against Burnley.

Chelsea of course are also expected to juggle their resources, although whilst Rafa Benitez has his main focus on avoiding relegation, for Antonio Conte it is the last 16 of the Champions League and maintaining their current top three position in the Premier League.

In the last six weeks the only club Newcastle have lost to is Manchester City, whilst in their last six matches (all competitions), Chelsea scored four against Brighton but in the other five matches only scored two goals in total.

So who would be in your Newcastle team v Chelsea to hopefully take NUFC into their first FA Cup fifth round under Mike Ashley.

  • Mike Adam

At least Horselu is down near the bottom of the list where he belongs. Looks like the fans know more than the manager.

    • Mark Potter

      He’s 13th out of 25. Bang average.

      • Mike Adam

Not when I first read it he was 3rd or fourth from the bottom, he belongs, not playing.

  • Colin Brumwell

As the squad is so poor do we have weakened team totput out

    • Mxpx

The “weaker team” which could include aarons Murphy merino and mitrovic might be better than the “strong” team

      • Mark Potter

Players who’s focus is on the transfer window (read Mitro and Aarons) will not be included, according to Rafa.

It’s not clear that Merino is fit enough yet to play a full game. Murphy has done enough recently to start in the first team. Ritchie more likely to feature in a “second eleven”.
