A big Happy Black and White Christmas Day thank you to everybody who has helped make The Mag such an interesting place to visit this year and a very Happy Christmas to Newcastle fans wherever you are in the world.

Waking up today sees Newcastle fans looking ahead to hopefully better times around the corner, with three points at the London Stadium and out of the bottom three just the start of it.

The supporting and reporting on the goings on at St James Park continues to be a rollercoaster.

However, with manager, players, and fans all pulling together, all we need now is for Mike Ashley to make way for new ambitious owners, who can give Newcastle United the opportunity to be the club it should be.

Following a normal football club just wouldn’t be the same…

Thanks to every single one of you who has visited the website.

Special thanks go to the supporters who have contributed literally thousands of articles to the site over the past twelve months.

Take care of yourselves and why not join that ever growing team of contributors?

    An Alternative Christmas Message:

It’s the Roman God Mithras’s birthday too which Constantine’s mum rebranded quite successfully.

There’s no such thing as God…. it’s just something people invented to stop themselves going nuts before they die….
    Crichton.

All religions depend upon the suspension of rationality, we are not born believers, but socio-geographic-cultural influences deem the degree to which the mind has had freedom of thought crushed by group conformity.

New religions such as the worship of the retail God ‘Santa Claus’ have transcended a lot of the older ‘nastier’ death-cults….. that is what religions are…. and that is what they have mostly contributed towards civilisation…. death…. sanctified and dressed up to suite ignorance, and used by despots to justify themselves.

Santa rewards children not on the basis of who has been good or bad so much as by the size of parental salary…..
    Cunk.

The Queen will of course speak of the horrors of terrorism and death, but she is head of a religion which brought terror and death to millions through conquest and resulting liberation struggles…. she probably won’t mention this.

The Queen and her family have numerous offshore accounts to avoid taxes…… she probably won’t mention this either.

    Pay your Taxes Royal people!

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Religion is no more than another control system to keep the populace in line and adherent to the status quo.
The actual true story of the real Santa Claus is better than the fiction because the Turkish Monk who did the true charitable deed showed the true spirit of giving and selflessness.

      • nufcslf

Religious Vomit by the Dead Kennedys is my ringtone. All religions make me wanna throw-up, all religions me sick. Should be sad for a 51 year old other than the fact religion is so corrupt and the cause of far too many wars.

        • Danimal

You’ll be fine as long as there’s a fireplace handy.

    • BenMagpie

Brilliant. Just as I was losing faith in this site. Thank you.

    • Rich Lawson

I should know more about this but wasn’t he just the Sun God,one of many, rather than a single deity ?

      • Leazes Ender

        No

    • Andy Mac

“we are not born believers” however a lifetime of sucking up the carp that the RW media dish out is enough to shrivel anyone’s brain to the size of a small peanut.

Education is for the masses but only to be taken so far otherwise we’d be a risk. Noam rightly says “The general population doesnt know whats happening and it doesnt even know that it doesnt know”

    • Geordiegiants

I agree and so do most of the population of Britain, well that was until they let every lunatic in from around the world in backward countries, anyway it’s a control thing. Who believes anything that was written thousand of years ago? It’s onyl a few hundred years ago the we’re setting fire to women for being witches because they were on their period, in another couple of thousand year they will think Harry Potter was real.

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

Firstly, leave your racist nonsense at home please. Secondly, if someone uses a belief in a higher power to center themselves morally, and it doesn’t infringe upon your right NOT to do so, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Live and let live, as it were.

        • Geordiegiants

What are you on about you ignorant fool. RACIST?????!? You fu cking pure arrrsole. That is not racist that is my opinion, no wonder our country is a mess and political correctness is a mess with people like you turning and twisting peoples opinions. Everyone is allowed one now f uck off back in your kennel you f uckkng dog. There was nothing racist in my post you absolute fu cking moron.

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

racist and angry… “that is not racist, that is my opinion” is the sort of mental gymnastic idiocy that has led to the wonderful kind of jingoism the UK is so well known for. all racism is just someones stupid opinion…

          • Geordiegiants

Tell me one racist sentence in there? I happen to think this country needs A BIT of help from other countries work forces, as our low paid workers think they are to good to work nights and weekends etc, infact they think they are to good to work, but as your a far left extremist you probably think no one should have to work if they don’t want to, and everyone should be the same no matter what they do.
I happen to lean a bit more the right but I’m not an extremist like your self and don’t think people can’t have an opinion unless it’s a far left extreme view. You should be ashamed of yourself, our ancestors fought a war and died for the right of free speech for the people of this country, and if the majority of native British people feel like they have been treat like a second class citizen then it’s down to left wing extremist like your self.

          • Oooh bobbi fleckman

I tend to be centre right in politics but I do think your comment was xenophobic, you could have phrased it a little better.

          • Geordiegiants

I’m in exactly the same position as you for once Bobbi, centre right, but your saying xenophobic he is saying racist, that is exactly the point I’m getting at PC madness. I was simply saying it how it is. It’s perfectly fine for people to go on about make believe stuff, teaching it to kids in schools etc, but when I state a fact / the obvious I’m in the wrong?

          • Oooh bobbi fleckman

Your comment certainly wasn’t racist but came over a little on the xenephobic side.

I’m uber liberal politically and a bit to the right when it come to economics. For immigration, I am like Stuart Hall (there’s a simile I’d not normally use) in that in an ideal world I’m ‘sans frontiers’ in that I would let anyone in who wanted to come, I just would not offer access to benefits unless there is a 5 year contribution to the ‘pot’. I’d extend that to the Uk born folk too, we have far too many folk economically idle.

However, I sort of see your point in that we have appeared to imported terrorism but you have to remember most of the terrorist acts have been from British Born. Would stronger borders really have stopped it. It’s not just Muslim terrorism, we’ve had Christian terrorism too and in the 70’s & 80’s, strong border control did very little to repel that as one of the terrorists gripes back then was the fact they were part of the UK and Northern Ireland.

Yes, I tend to agree that it’s very strange that we stuff up the curriculum with what is a fairy tale but understanding religion certainly makes history and world politics easier to follow.

          • Geordiegiants

Very brave of you Bobbi, as I’m sure the far left loony’s will be on your back for that. 👍 It just amazes me how they get away with it, and the far right are classed as criminals.

          • Albert Stubbins

Leafy liberal s***** jargon. What a load of balls.

          • Mark Potter

I think he is referring to your comment about letting lunatics in from backward countries. Seems racist to me. But perhaps you would like to clarify the point?

BTW when you say “they” were setting fire to witches, I think you will find more than a little support from amongst the common folk, those who believed that the people who were burned summoned evil spirits and caused diseases etc. I’ve no doubt that some on this forum would have heartily joined in. It’s quite plain how those things happened, when you read some of the ignorant and factless posts here, with people wishing death and injury on people they don’t agree with.

          • Geordiegiants

So are we not letting lunatics in from backward countries? It’s a yes or no question.

          • Oooh bobbi fleckman

            Spot on!

        • Albert Stubbins

Another pc lunatic oot of the asylum I see. I thought this was a football site, apparently not.

      • Albert Stubbins

They still burn them in prudhoe apparently!! :)

        • Geordiegiants

          Ha ha there, and Sunderland.👍

    • Oooh bobbi fleckman

I agree with you for a change. Religion is about control, much of it is based on common sense but it is a control mechanism.

  • DC1964

Happy Christmas everyone. Here’s hoping to us being the first team to beat Man City this season! You never know!!!

    • Leazes Ender

Stranger things have happened…. although not that many.

      • DC1964

Everyone expects us to lose so we might just get a result! (hope springs eternal!!!)

  • Monkseaton Magpies

To Clarko Oli Bobbi Fleckman two sensible people on this site how I wish for a fourth.

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Xmas day and you still get someone who cannot be civil to anyone despite the fact they may have a different opinion on things.
It says more about your own mentality if you have to denigrate things to that level.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you all the same because life is too short.

    • Wor Lass

      Who`s the third?

      • Soldier

        nutty

      • Albert Stubbins

Not himself that’s a certainty. The three wise men, good bad and ugly, three amigos, stooges, wise monkeys. You choose!!

        • Danimal

The “three wise men” probably think today is something to do with the birth of Mike Ashley, they worship his every move so much. Anyway, best wishes fellow sufferers!

    • HarryHype59

They are more like the three unwise monkeys, who see, hear or speak no evil of this odious regime!

  • Leicester Mag

Missus bought me a book on the Jarrow Crusuade another on Red Ellen and a third on Nye Bevan. Must have nicked some ideas off Leazes!

Have a great Christmas and let’s hope our own Turkey finally gets stuffed.

    • Leazes Ender

      I have a feeling I know you.

      • Andy Mac

Ooooeerrrr is this Mystic Leazes grappling with the Tarot cards ? Pretend you never said anything Leicester ? Better still delete the comment altogether 🤔

        • Leazes Ender

Nothing to do with mysticism….. deductive reasoning my dear Watson.

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Merry Xmas to one and all.

  • anyobrien

Al the best people….. Enjoy the day. And keep the faith.

  • nufcslf

    Merry Christmas everyone and enjoy.

  • Steven05

Merry CHRISTmas everyone. Enjoy your loved ones and cherish your lives. You are lucky if you never turn to religion in dark times. If someone is gently knocking at your door and you don’t hear it, it doesn’t mean nobody is there. God bless us all

    • Leazes Ender

Where was he during the first and second world wars….. AWOL

There’s nobody there, why does your god kill innocent children?

      • BenMagpie

Best comment you’ve made on here. Constantine invented the whole fairy tale. All man made. Stole it all from the pagans.

        • Leazes Ender

It was his mum Helena really…. the temples to Mithras were not replaced ….. just re used with a bit of chiseling when the order went out from Constantine.

          • love toon despite

            Leazes….I’m an atheist, thank God

          • Geordiegiants

Leazes I’m with you, religion is backward on an educated society.

        • Mark Potter

Not true. The early Christians in Palestine and Asia Minor were responsible. From the story of a MAN who apparently said some great things in the first gospel to be written (Mark around 70 AD), they progressively convinced themselves (and the many new converts they were making) that he was raised to heaven a god, then he died a god, then baptised a god, born a god, was a god before he was born, then eventually that he was the original god who created everything. Just compare the last gospel John (100 AD) to the first Mark.

This was all many years before the Emperor Constantine’s mother converted.

It wasn’t until 313 AD that Constantine legalized Christianity, and Christians could publicly worship without persecution. But the old Roman gods were still worshipped by 90% of the Empire. It wasn’t until the Emperor Theodosius I in 380 AD that Christianity became the official religion of the Empire. And it would only be after that any temples to the old Roman gods (and Greek and Egyptian) would be converted, unless some privately owned temples were converted by their owners in the meantime. And converted to follow the early Christian beliefs largely encompassed in John’s gospel 280 years earlier. With the one addition – the doctrine of the Trinity deciding that Jesus was the one god who created everything.

We have over 5,000 early Christian manuscripts written in Aramaic and Greek. It is not in any doubt by historians that Christians were worshipping Jesus from Nazareth and proclaiming him to be a god nearly 250 years before Constantine. Constantine only has a significant role to play in the formation of the theology of Christianity if you get your history from novels by Dan Brown. Fiction not history.

      • Steven05

I don’t take my faith from any preachings or books, but from what I feel inside. And there’s no way I’m going to debate this today! Whatever your beliefs, however you feel about anything – have a great day and very best wishes to you

        • Leazes Ender

How about the ‘temptations of Christ in the wilderness’…. have a read of the ‘Buddha’s trials of Mara’…. and play spot the difference?….. five hundred BCE.

If it was a class essay somebody would get their ear clipped for copying.

          • GToon

            Hahahaha!! 😀

        Alexander the Great

      • Rich Lawson

That’s a bit of a swerve, but in a strange coincedence my father helped excavate the Mithras temple they found along Hadrian’s Wall in the 30’s.Funny old game.

        • Leazes Ender

Did he really…… There’s an altarpiece in the Hancock Museum.

          • Rich Lawson

That must be the original, presumably the one on The Wall is a replica for safety sake, stop Indy’ getting it.I think the bloke in charge of the dig was called Sir Ian Richmond who was one of my Godfather’s.I haven’t been to the temple (which I seem to think is tiny) since I was a kid,but you put an interesting spin on Xmas, all the best for the New Year.

  • toonterrier

Best wishes to one and all for the coming year. Just hope Amanda Claus doesn’t decide to go home before the deal is done. Hope her sack is big enough to put the fat man in.

    • Leazes Ender

She will take over, I’m sure…. there must a lot of temptation to ‘come home’.

    • Soldier

Amanda is a stalking horse and all will be revealed in the New Year

  • Mrkgw

Merry Christmas fellow Mags. All the best.

  • Sumit Sengupta

Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year to all.

  • GToon

Happy xmas fellow mags and especially leazes. I just looked at this link and was in bits laughing at your reply to that slightly religious comment by that bloke. He was probably just trying to be kind and now thinks you are the antichrist or something!!! Laughed my head off!! Anyway, enjoy the day as our announcer wud say! Glyn.

    • Soldier

God will smite leazes & he will spend the afterlife with Ashley or Lee Ryder

      • GToon

        In what relationship? Hahahaha

  • Andy Mac

Yeah Merry Hoohah to all Mags everywhere but I’m reading Seagulls have signed Dembele from Celtic for £18m. Everton have snatched Cenk Tosun for £23m and we’re HOPING to sign Danny Ings for the price of his bus fare ?

Is it any wonder there are just a few old NUFC fans left ? The heart just gives up after a while as Fat Freddy or Fatman repeatedly stamp on it ?

    • HarryHype59

I expect the old chess nut!

“We tried but couldn’t get them over the line”

Will be trotted out on the 31st of January!

  • Whickhamrobbie
