West Ham 2 Newcastle 3  – Saturday 23 December 2017 3pm

Elliot 7 –  If it wasn’t for saving the penalty then it would have been a low rating because he wasn’t very good in all departments. but he was responsible for the key moment in the game which gives him a minimum 7 for me. A massive penalty save. Massive is probably an understatement actually.

Yedlin 7 – Brilliant going forward as per usual. Should have done better with the one chance he did have but linked up with Ritchie well and in the last few games has been our main attacking threat from full back.

Clark 4 – One of his worst performances in an NUFC shirt. I rarely say a bad word about him but he didn’t look fit today. Arnautovic walked past him for the first goal and he didn’t look comfortable all day.

Lascelles 9 – Safe as houses. Look like a far different team with him back in the side. Nothing noteworthy to speak of, which says a lot actually. No doubt that he’s a massive player for us now.

Manquillo 8 – Brilliant defensively and even offered something more going forward. Dummett will be a welcome return to the side but Manquillo can hold his head up high.

Ritchie 8 – Bucked his ideas up since being dropped last week against Arsenal. Looked far more of a threat than usual. Another one who did his job well. Unlucky not to score a great goal after hitting the post.

Diame 8 – For the first half an hour I thought Diame and Saivet were up to their usual tricks but since we got back 1-1 the two of them were brilliant. Diame wasn’t great on the ball granted…but when is he? He got around the pitch well, broke up play and scored a great goal.

Saivet 8 – Would be a 9 or a 10 if it wasn’t for that first goal which was a right howler. Recovered brilliantly with a great free kick and like Diame, they were all over the midfield breaking up play. By no means world beaters today but they did the job Rafa would have asked of them perfectly.

Atsu 9 – Our best player today for me. Going forward he caused West Ham all sorts of problems and put in a good shift defensively too. A real player on his day, it’s just a shame he doesn’t have them most days.

Deserves some credit for the penalty save too. Noticed him have a word in Elliott’s ear before the spot kick. maybe he knew something about his compatriot that we didn’t.

Gayle 6 – Did his best to hold the ball up and link up play. Should have had a goal for himself but missed an absolute sitter.

Joselu 7 – You know what you’re going to get from him now. Won almost everything in the air. Sloppy when the ball is at his feet but does his fair share! A great assist too.

Perez – N/A (Not on long enough)

Mbemba – N/A (Not on long enough)

Murphy – N/A (Not on long enough)

given half the chance and a £30m bid fatty would sell Lascelles.
Rafa puts SloMo on the list to go & a day later he pops up with a goal
    it`s a funny old game

  • Leazes Ender

The chronicle are running with Saivet the saviour….

See what I mean about them sabotaging the club constantly…. within days, they’re trying to drive away our best player and keep the worst….

…. it is instinctive of the Lancastrian duo of Ryder and Douglas.

As if it isn’t bad enough not getting marginal calls from the Referees Association, as if it isn’t bad enough having an owner who ties the clubs hands behind its back!

    Ryder will always do this!

    • Mitros gotta start

Saviet showed some bottle coming back from that howler….most players would have crumbled….well played….made up for it with that free kick and got stuck in…..cant have been easy with slo mo beside him.
Credit where its due….the lads looked up for it today….for a change.

      • Soldier

the dynamic duo in midfield & a goal apiece to boot.
        sell Merino & Shelvey

        • Leazes Ender

          give me strength

          • Soldier

            i`m kidding

      • Leazes Ender

he did…. he put himself in the shop window.

    • toonterrier

You shouldn’t read the Evening Comical. Its a joke.

      • Soldier

        that`s why it`s read, for a laugh

        • Peaky Magpie

I’m sure Ryder is a real life fully living Roger Melly.

    • Soldier

      the enemy within

  • GToon

The only problem is the next game we play. That will halt any momentum I would imagine unless we get the bit of luck we deserve against that lot.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

we’ll be lucky to lose 4-0. I say play the U23’s and highlight the farce that is having an entire side full of players worth more than other PL teams’ entire roster.

      • Scooter

it`s scary just thinking about Man C

      • GToon

Nah, play like Wimbledon used to and we will be fine!

  • Scooter

the team had a strange look to it, anybody notice he had 2 left backs on the bench ? anyway we won and a precious 3 points gained

    • Martin Rooney

Yep won the game well done , not only two left backs and two left wingers on the bench blokes off his rocker

    • Jimmy_toons

2 left backs and 2 wingers on the bench because we have nothing else. Have a word with the purse strings‘ holder, he’s robbing us of many things, inludng a squad to compete in the premier league. Only bloke off his rocker is the eejit with initials MA.

  • Martin Rooney

Effin hell bloke saves a pen and gets a seven who publishes this dross its alright for people to be mad we should support them but not let their bo larks loose on the public

  • Mrkgw

Interesting ratings and good for those who raised their game. Great result.

  • Peaky Magpie

The run of Citeh will be ended, why shouldn’t it be us ? As Leazes said the other day you just never know in football.

    • TheNutJob

was that before you watched MOTD, not going to happen

      • Peaky Magpie

        Lesson learned,Jack Daniels & a keyboard divvent mix 😂😂😂

        • TheNutJob

the old man was on Chivas Regal last night playing

  • Peaky Magpie

    Here we gan on MOTD,going for a 3-2 win ! 😂

  • Mrkgw

Having watched MOTD, that looked to have been an excellent performance. Atsu and Yedlin to mention two in particular, looked good. The players should retain their places for the next game.

    • Peaky Magpie

Yes bud thought Yedlin looked really good, let’s hope we move on and kick on.

      • Mrkgw

Yes, lets hope that this proves to be a decent Christmas all round with results in our Christmas fixtures. All the best.

    • TheNutJob

i watched the match, both of them were brilliant

  • Peaky Magpie

Can someone please tell me when the rules were changed this season so you can’t book or send off Spurs players ??? Kane & Ali are both a pair of dirty effing cheating c**ts ???

  • Peaky Magpie

It would just make my Christmas now if Big Al swings aroond and knocks Danny effing Murphy into New Year !

  • Whitehurst

    Liking Saviet’s attitude!!

    • TheNutJob

      he played well

  • TheNutJob

thought for today, Man Citee has a centre back that`s scored more goals than any of our strikers.

  • TheNutJob

I`m taking Hoss to score first & us to beat Citee, buying a villa in Spain with my winnings.

  • Paul Patterson

The victimisation of Elliot continues . .

    • TheNutJob

him & Dummy always take stick

  • hetonmag

If Yedlin could improve his defensive duties we would have a cracking RB on our books, we got our third goal mainly due to his pace out of defense.

  • Philippines

Thanks for that. I think you gave a fairer and more balanced view than most of the recent fan ratings. I think Joselu is beginning to look quite useful.
