Premier League delay announcing next month of potential Newcastle United Live TV Matches
Another announcement on Newcastle United live TV matches was due to be made on Tuesday (12 December).
The games to be moved/broadcast in February set to be revealed.
However, yet again the dates (when live TV matches would be announced) provided at the start of the season by the Premier League and broadcasters have proved worthless.
It is now Friday and not only have the February live TV games not been announced, the Premier League (and broadcasters) don’t even feel they have to apologise and/or give a reason for the delay.
The Mail report that February Live TV matches will be finally announced sometime next week, which isn’t great news for Newcastle fans looking to get as cheap as possible travel booked for the Crystal Palace away match currently scheduled for Saturday 3 February 3pm.
The newspaper claims that the delay is due to a knock-on effect from the moving of Tottenham against West Ham, which was switched from 31 December to 4 January because Wembley would otherwise have had a restricted capacity, with tube services stretched for new year’s eve celebrations across London.
It just gets better doesn’t it, so Newcastle’s away fans who have to further than any other set of supporters, are delayed in sorting out their travel to Palace, as a knock-on effect of helping Tottenham to make even more money in using the national stadium, and assisting more Spurs (and possibly West Ham) fans to see that match.
Bear in mind, Spurs had 83,782 fans when they played Real Madrid, 80,827 for Liverpool at home, yet lost almost 30,000 of them somewhere when they played Brighton (55,124) in their last home game!
There have been 10 Newcastle United live TV matches so far, with two more also already scheduled, both against Manchester City…
The three under threat in the next upcoming announcement are:
Crystal Palace v Newcastle (Sat 3 February 2018 – 3pm)
Newcastle v Man Utd (Sat 10 February 2018 – 3pm)
Bournemouth v Newcastle (Sat 24 February 2018 – 3pm)
The Manchester United one must be a knocking bet judged on how often this fixture has been chosen previously, though it would be no great surprise to see Bournemouth away moved to a Friday night or Sunday lunchtime, just to keep our hardcore away fans on their toes!
Newcastle United Live TV matches already confirmed:
Wednesday 27 December
7.45pm Newcastle v Man City (Sky Sports)
Saturday 20 January
