Paul Ince – Newcastle might as well not bother turning up at Chelsea
Paul Ince believes Newcastle may as well stay in bed today rather than bothering to face Chelsea.
Ince thinks the result is a foregone conclusion and says that the way Newcastle are conceding goals at the moment (nine in the last three matches), they are bound to struggle.
Whilst Rafa Benitez made five changes at West Brom, Antonio Conte also took a calculated risk on Wednesday night.
Despite dominating the match, Chelsea narrowly beat Swansea 1-0, with the Swans almost getting an equaliser in the closing stages.
Conte made four changes and Paul Ince believes this makes it even harder for the visitors, with ‘big guns’ such as Hazard, Babayako and Azpilicueta set to return after being rested.
The former West Ham and Man Utd player thinks Chelsea will score plenty of goals without reply, going for a 4-0 home win.
Newcastle have conceded six goals in their last two away matches but in the first five on the road, they only leaked five goals.
Meanwhile Chelsea have only managed to score more than one goal in three of their last 10 Premier League games.
As Wednesday night showed, Chelsea are maybe missing Diego Costa as they at times struggle to turn domination into chances.
Whilst they are missing captain Jamaal Lascelles once again, if Newcastle can get that defensive discipline back in the team, they may have every chance of upsetting both Chelsea and Paul Ince, especially if they can find a goal from somewhere themselves.
Another two goals from set-pieces in midweek a big pointer as to where a goal(s!) are most likely to come from.
Paul Ince talking to The Express:
“At Chelsea?
“Home win.
“You’ve got to fancy them.
“The big guns will be back after being rested midweek.
“Newcastle are conceding goals at the moment, you saw them get hit for three at Watford, and I think they’ll struggle again here.
“Prediction: Chelsea 4 Newcastle 0”
