Maybe Newcastle United should have skipped latest player of the month award…

The nominations for the official November Newcastle United player of the month have been released.

Maybe on reflection the club will wish they hadn’t bothered this time…

There are three players put forward for fans to vote on but that must have been a struggle.

This was a dismal month for Newcastle, losing three games and drawing one, with no wins. Conceding 10 goals and scoring only three.

Newcastle United official announcement:

‘The shortlist for the FUN88 player of the month award for November has been announced.

And while the team picked up just one point from their four games, there were still some notable performances from United’s players.

Jacob Murphy came into the side and caught the eye, earning him his first nomination for the monthly award.

Isaac Hayden was his usual reliable self – and was certainly missed when he served a one-match suspension against Watford.

While Ciaran Clark scored a vital goal at West Bromwich Albion as the Magpies came from 2-0 down to earn a draw.’

I like Ciaran Clark but this won’t be a month he looks back fondly on. He stuck at it but after coming on for Jamaal Lascelles against Bournemouth, he saw 10 goals fly into the United net in only around five hours of football.

As for Isaac Hayden, I have got to say he has really struggled to adapt to the Premier League and was pretty poor against Bournemouth and Man Utd, then did marginally better against West Brom.

Jacob Murphy was a late sub against Bournemouth and then started the Watford, Man Utd and West Brom matches.

Not very good against the Baggies but was arguably Newcastle’s biggest threat against Watford, plus had a few decent moments at Old Trafford.

Guessing Murphy will get the vote but pretty much by default in a shocker of a month.
