Former Newcastle player James Milner holds a slightly unbelievable record.
Since making his Premier League debut for Leeds some 15 years ago, he has never lost a game in which he has scored.
Milner was signed from Leeds by Newcastle and has also gone on to play for Aston Villa, Man City and Liverpool in the Premier League.
For all of those teams, if James Milner scores then they don’t get beat in the English top tier.
When with Newcastle, the then winger only scored in six Premier League matches but they included some important ones, ensuring the Magpies didn’t lose to the likes of Sunderland and Man Utd.
Newcastle matches when James Milner scored for them in the Premier League:
Newcastle 3 West Brom 1 – 25 Sept 2004
Newcastle 2 Man Utd 2 – 1 Jan 2007
Newcastle 2 West Ham 2 – 20 Jan 2007
Newcastle 3 Aston Villa 1 – 31 Jan 2007
Newcastle 3 Tottenham 1 – 22 Oct 2007
Sunderland 1 Newcastle 1 – 10 Nov 2007
The subject came up when in his excellent Sky Sports column, Martin Tyler was asked about Anonio Valencia’s record in the Premier League.
The Man Utd player has scored in 22 different top tier matches and never lost.
However, Martin Tyler produced a list (see below) of the top 12 players and James Milner is way out ahead (of those still playing in the Premier League). In 47 different PL games Milner has scored in them and never been beaten.
Players who have never lost after scoring in the Premier League:
47 James Milner
46 Darius Vassell
32 Saloman Kalou
28 Oyvind Leonhardsen
27 Dele Alli
22 Antonio Valencia
19 Lee Sharpe
19 John Arne Riise
18 Denis Irwin
18 Bryan Roy
18 Seamus Coleman
